2020 Bridgestone Tour B Golf Balls

Must try these! I’m diligently losing my collection of old srixon qstars to make room! Yellow, tour b xs!!!

I played the Tour B X most of the weekend and then the RX for most of today. My original thoughts are still the same, solid distance, good spin around the greens and an overall great feel.

So at the Distance Bash, I got fitted into the Tour B X and I don't think I am looking back. The ball feels fantastic. I put so many shots onto greens that o had no business holding and it just stuck. Hit a 210 yrd 5wood into a 30mph wind, landed it pin high and instead of rolling off, hit on-hopped and stopped. That was happening to me all weekend even in really bad conditions.

Not to mention how the ball just jumps off the face of the driver. Hit some bombs with this over the 2 days. 325 total distance on 18 at the conservatory for example. It's a great ball.

One thing I noticed, and looking for @rehbirdie to see if he confirms or not, but while these balls are great into a strong headwind say 3 club wind, when hitting down range of the same wind, I expected more wind help and I seemed to see less help from a tailwind. Anecdotal of course but wondering if the better wind management also effects downwind by helping it less.

I played 18 holes today with the RX. It now has 36 holes on it and still looks great. Although it is still difficult to judge based on temperature, I believe the ball is plenty long. However, it also has plenty of stopping power. Full wedges seem to dance and stop. Full iron shots stop very quickly, as well. Love the feel off the putter. So far, I have two balls that in in the final grouping for which will be my ball for 2020, this and the AVX. Both seem to do about the same thing for me.

I will certainly be putting this lineup against my current gamer this year

What is your current gamer?
Currently the best performing ball for me is the Taylormade TP5x. If I want to save a little I get similar performance from the Snell MTB-x (not quite as good but for the price it's worth it when I'm spraying shots)

Tour B X has been acquired. Just need to get out and play. All the feedback I’ve read here has me wanting to put these in play ASAP.

Great question. Our goal is to make the most aerodynamic cover in the biz. We legit have “dimple engineers” working only on this. We always strive to make it perform BETTER into headwinds. When we test any players, from amateurs to Tiger Woods, the first thing we ask is “Where is the wind blowing?” and then we hit right INTO it! Always. I think you are seeing the insane stability into a headwind and it’s effecting what you might think it should do down wind. So you are seeing the ball more closely perform into a headwind like you would in calm or downwind. We also strive to not make the dimple pattern create “fliers” downwind. That’s also a factor of stability when you are discussing dimple spec.

Hope I somewhat answered your question!

Thanks @rehbirdie . Appreciate the feedback. And yeah I think it does, or rather it aligns with what I think you were going for from a design perspective. Driving into gale force winds over the weekend, I wouldn't expect any ball to not be affected but when we would flight it lower and drive it into the wind instead of across it, the ball was really stable. No harsh dips or wierd variations on line. We got caught a few times expecting the ball to go longer when down range and now it explains it. Essentially, a ball designed to minimize wind impact on a shot affects both down range and into the wind shots. :)

Loved the ball by the way. Will be my gamer going forward. It really is that good. Just have to go stock up. Only have 4 left after the weekend.

Conservatory or Ocean Course?

Bridgestone is one of the biggest names in balls that I haven't really tried. I might have to remedy that this year.

Grabbed a dozen RX last week to give a go as the season (hopefully) starts to open up here in the coming weeks. Was always a fan of the previous generation, so expect good things with these as well.

Full 18 holes with RX albeit an executive course with the wifey......I'm truly , truly finding my comfort with this new rendition of this golf ball.
Like others have said, still spinning into and around the greens with great feel and distance for a 90s clubhead speed......

Had 2 drives in particular that finished 15yds past previous spots in very similar conditions! Really excited about the possibilities of the RX golf ball for my game!

Sounds like we have similar swing speeds and the RX is the first ball I want to try out from this lineup. Sounds like it has potential for me!!

I was fit into the Tour B X this past weekend at Distance Bash. Looking forward to sharing some additional thoughts along with the other participants.

The ball felt great on Sunday. Saturday was a bit tough to judge for me with the crazy wind conditions. I also didn’t complain about how it felt off the putter which is a huge plus for me.

Distance wise it was very nice. Even at sea level the ball seemed to carry normally with solid strikes. Balls held greens nicely from what I could tell too.

I’m interested to get this out again over the weekend to provide some additional thoughts compared to my normal gamer.

What's your driver swing speed Mike?

Even at this speed I've used both higher and low compression to find that unicorn......chrome soft was very close but shorter than this RX version yet the RX works in and around the greens like the CS ....tons of good/great balls out there .....srixon Qstar tour is another near ball but I don't get the spin I desire......the RX isn't a high spinner but between the feel , distance and into the green spin, color me happy !

I got the 2020 RX out on the course on Sunday and came away pretty impressed. It's hard to gauge performance completely since we're still dealing with winter-esque conditions in the Boston, MA area (some frozen greens, hard and soft spots in the fairways that'll significantly impact total distance, cooler temps even though Sunday technically hit 50 degrees or so), but initial results seemed very promising.

Hit driver everywhere I could (even though I may not have needed it with the winter course set up) and other than two really wonky swings, I really liked what I saw. For me, driver is the weakest part of my game and out of 13 tee shots, six were great, three were very serviceable and four weren't great. Two of the "bad" ones would have been fine if the course was playing it's regular length so hard to ding those and two were just crap swings by your's truly. Distance on a few of the good ones were really good for me.

Irons and wedges felt good but this is where performance is a little tough to tell since the greens were, let's just say, less than receptive for most of the day.

The RX felt great off chips and putts too with a similar caveat to the irons and wedges where the greens aren't super true yet, but that should just lead to these being even better in season.

This has a real shot to be my gamer for 2020.

I know these are brand-spanking-new, so it's early to ask this question, but does Bridgestone do any beginning of season Buy X, Get X Free or is my best bet for a stock up just to luck into a website discount code?
