2025-2026 College football thread

Honestly outside of that one Alabama win, the BK lawsuit is the most effort I’ve ever seen out of BK…

It's funny about the Penn State comments on the cold like Saban isn't from WV, didn't play and Coach at Kent State, Syracuse, Michigan State, Navy, OSU and for the Browns.

It’s needs to happen.

@Pharaoh wjats your take on Saban to LSU
Saban has said that his biggest mistake he ever made was leaving LSU to go to Miami.

He can make things right.

Number one song of Nick to lsu fans right now

I am loving that this is also from little Texas 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You mean on if he’ll go? I think there’s really no chance at all. LSU is in a war with BK over his contract which is gonna turn candidates off. I think he’s an a$$ but they made the contract so they need to follow through. But Saban is happy. He hated how players acted as far as NIL. People said Saban retired due to NIL. That’s not true. He was returning and his players came screaming for money the day after the playoff loss. He knew the team was bummed and he came to them with his plans for winning a national championship the next season and some players who will remain unnamed told him more or so to F off until he ponies up for their services the next year.

That made Saban decide it wasn’t worth it anymore. Those players then transferred. Saban’s hates this era which is why people keep suggesting he be college football commissioner to pull things back a bit from the Wild West we’re seeing. If you hear his wife she’s made it clear that he’s living his best life. Receiving awards, being on college gameday, blowing out candles in a recliner at home, etc. He’s done. He wouldn’t even return for Bama tbh.

Saban has nothing to prove by taking any HC job. He hates the NIL and mentioned that recruiting loyalty isn't what it used to be. I think he's having too much fun now with zero pressure to perform.

Saban being the one to pull the reigns in is funny. He started this...it's just now everyone can do it, legally.

Pretending like it started with Saban is funny. There’s plenty of evidence of extra benefits being given by colleges long before Saban. Nevermind the idea he was the only one is funny. UNC, Duke, USC, Arizona, etc come to mind real quick (You think Zion was the first bank account to have deposits in them?). Yeah Coach K and Roy got the best classes every year only because of their coaching lol. The non majors are the ones that get punished (Usually something ridiculous like 3 year ban for a new textbook for a player or better housing. NCAA makes examples of schools that won’t fight back..). Anyone thinking it was one or two schools or that Saban started hasn’t been paying attention. Mich has a novel written about their scandal. You think Mich with how desperate they are to win weren’t doing stuff behind the scenes? Or even Ohio State? I bet if we did some digging Cam would have some skeletons in the ole benefits closet.

This is a great point that’s seemingly been lost in the mix. Nobody Put a gun to their heads to sign that contract. To borrow the line from Rounders, pay the man his money.

If you look at all sports, I think it's been happening to some degree at most if not all colleges.

The guy that ran my school’s Collective swears this is the story of this era - now everyone can do what some schools have been doing all along and it isn’t as much fun for those guys.

It’s a seriously bad look. It also makes Nick seem like the odds on favorite. You don’t do that if you’re courting on the open market

The bama boosters are spent and I think Nick realized that. They can’t compete in the open market. That’s why the “SEC” is pushing the score act. Texas A&M and Texas Tech are taking all that oil field money and splashing it everywhere.

To your original point yes all the elite programs have ways of getting “funding” to their recruits. They also needed to fund officials as well. It’s why the mid tier guys always got their wrist slapped.

Ok, you are correct, Saban did not start it, he just perfected it.

And there is no need to dig on Cam Newton, we paid him $180k to come to Auburn. That's well known facts these days. $180k for a Heisman and National Championship is chump change in todays market.

Bama isn’t spent. I’m good buds with someone very close to the boosters. Bama simply was behind with NIL and Yea Bama collective but they are rolling now. Saban has high end businesses that puts money in too. Bama has endless scholars with money. Bama literally has the top 3 recruiting class coming. This year they got the top QB who is sitting behind Simpson who is a heisman candidate. They arent forking down 25 mil like Oregon who has the Nike founder but Bama has plenty of money.

That's why there is so much parity in CFB. Everyone is on a level playing field.

The incident with Trigg caught up to him.

I’m going to need you to adjust the number for inflation. It’s still a freaking steal but not as egregious as it seems 🤣

Saban didn’t step down from being on top because he was tired of winning…

that's like hitting on a 7th round draft pick

Not this year. And the dirty little secret is the conference's elite teams really have not been all that elite for a while.

FSU - 2 "real" winning seasons since 2017; like 5-20 the past 2 years.
Miami - has not won an ACC Championship game in forever
Clemson - since 2021 they've had 3, 3, 4, 4 and 5 (and counting) loss seasons.

They have brands but that's about it.
Correction...Miami has never won the acc championship, only been once and I left in the 3rd quarter because clemson was making them look like a high school jv team.
