2025 Callaway Utility Series – Apex UT

At 18*! You'd fit this club so well!
Done. Order placed. I love my UW, but I want to experiment with something different. I think the UT would be even more workable than the UW.

When the THP Tech Studio was in Nashville, there was a running joke with @JB that a UT Iron never came in that I didn't think that I could game. We would go into the sim and that theory was never proven to be true. "Stick to the hybrid, Dax" would be the common refrain. But after seeing these in person, and taking a few swings, these could be the one. So good...

Only two members of Our Time have these in their bags:
@K.P. - 20 Degree
@hedley_lamarr - 20 Degree

What I think makes these special is the FlexCore Technology, basically allowing the face to flex lower on the face. Most misses with irons are on the low side, so being able to maintain ball speed low on the face is important.

really really intrigued by these. My last gen apex UT is good but does tend to die a bit on the low toe and launch a bit too high at times.

might not be immediately but I think an 18* will have to be given a shot at some point.

At the very least go hit it, I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.

Sorry @baylrballa I did not order you one.

I wasn't a huge fan of the last UT, but I want to try something different and I am hitting my Elyte Ti HL so well that I don't feel the need to have a higher launching option like the UW. The UT would be a more controlled, lower launching option off the tee.

I think a lot of golfers could really benefit from the Tec in that 20-24 degree range. So good on low strikes.

The lower lauch was something I was concerned about in my initial thoughts about this lineup. Once I hit it all of the concerns went away. It really is a smaller, less offset, lower launch, super game-improvement iron. The most notable in short use is the toe side forgiveness. It doesn't over draw for me at this point. I'd recommend trying it.

Don’t say that or I’ll start believing I can game one. Lol

AT 24 degrees I think you could. Proper fitting would gap it in your bag.

It would be in that spot that I currently have a 4 hybrid maybe, it would be hard to gap in somewhere.

Its worthy of a head to head

Love the satin look. The back of the club isn’t as bulky as I thought it would be. The first time really seeing the club was at a fitting. It’s not oversized so it blends we with my Ti Fusion 250 5 iron.
Really interesting looking club that looks even better in person! I wish I had taken the opportunity to try one out!

Its funny how much time we had to be fit, that was more than enough, but still didn't hit "everything." I'm glad I stream-lined mine and kept it simple. This club was a gap filler and we didn't like the woods in my hand at this loft. Excited to give this more of a go

26 Apex Utility 20 degree with Ventus Black 90TX
OFF DECK
Total distance 225yds
Carry Distance 209yds
Back Spin 3200rpm
Ball Speed 135mph
Peak Height 70ft
Launch angle 15.3

Off tee
Total Distance 224yds
Carry distance 206yds
Back Spin 3500rpm
Ball Speed 133mph
Peak Height 78 feet
Launch Angle 14.4 degrees

Perfect test? NO. The direction of this club off the tee makes it an absolute missle. It doesn't want to over turn left. Off the deck was solid strikes and very playable to be a 20 degree utility. It basically can be thought of as a smaller game improvement iron in my opinion. The amount of tech inside the head makes it very user friendly.

Off the tee has always been a struggle for me with utilities more so than off the deck. I didn't feel lost at all today in either situation. More hard numbers to come with time and some eye opening things with an equipment change.

@hedley_lamarr you are absolutely nailing that off the deck. My 2024 model 20 degree was superb off the tee this year, but other than on the range I'm not sure if I hit it in anger on a scoring round from the deck.

That was instrumental in my decision to go the 2025 model but in an 18 degree to maximize distance off the tee, on tight fairways, rather than trying to either have both or go to the 20. At some point I'll be trying it off the deck in 2026, and I'll be using the winter to get it bedded in at the range and get the consistent results I'm looking for again.

I played the 1 iron from Titleist part of this season and the diminishing returns of being a 1 trick pony wasn’t worth keeping it in the bag.

I am using the 20 degree UT basically as a 4 iron and a tee club. Any par 4 under 375 this club comes into play.

Yesterdays sim session off the tee it was never more than 5 yards off center line.

That club looks cool.
I think it would be an absolute blast at 24 degrees. I should have done the Internet golfer thing and got one.

If I had to give a comparison I think it feels like…. The Apex 200. Soft but not exactly the one price forging like the X Forged. BUT in its defense, it’s not a one piece club. It feels better than I expected for its design.

I need to try this as a replacement for the 4i

Also love the sandal look in WV
Concrete basement floor is cold in the winter time. Got myself just before I went to bed haha

I think that’s fair based on how it felt to me on the range at ECPC. Pretty similar to the Ai150 I hit that day in fact. Maybe a little firmer than the 200/300 but still very pleasant.

Granted I was also hitting the 18°
