2025 Callaway Utility Series – Apex UT

I think that’s fair based on how it felt to me on the range at ECPC. Pretty similar to the Ai150 I hit that day in fact. Maybe a little firmer than the 200/300 but still very pleasant.

Granted I was also hitting the 18°
I promised myself I wouldn’t hit one below 20. It was hard to say no but it also gaps perfectly for me.

A lot of UTs in the past have been very clunky and don’t thru the ground well. This is about like hitting a 7 iron in that aspect.

When you talk about ground interaction what are you specifically referring to?

There are some other utility irons out there that seem to be designed exclusively to be a tee club with little thought to getting it thru the turf if you want to. The Apex UT does not suffer from that.

Yes but what does that feel like? What can you do with this that you can’t do with a standard 4i?

It's a bit more forgiving and gets up in the air easier, but not as high as a hybrid. If someone prefers the look of an iron behind the ball, but wants some extra help, a UT is great choice.

With some larger irons I have had issues with soles actually going thru the ground. They feel like they are going to bounce upward or get stuck.

This UT feels great on impact and has little to no vibration or “catch” on impact or post impact.

What are the results low in the face? I struggle to take divots and often make contact there.

For me it doesn’t spin as much and flies a little lower. More penetrating I guess is how I’d describe it. I also get a few extra yards.

I hit a couple off the bottom groove during my fitting with the 18°. (I also struggle to take divots). I think the best way to describe it would be piss missile.

So far about what you'd expect. A slight loss in distance but not harsh feeling. You can tell you've missed but it definitely isn't the hand stinging vibration.

Boredom had me attempt to chip with this today in my yard. I really do think it could be a great lag bump n run type club if you really need to avoid trouble. Its soft enough to have good feel and control. The concern would be the fast face. I'll try this on some slower greens and see where it works out

I used the UT primarily as a tee club today on long par 3's into the wind. I would normally pull a 5 iron from 175 yards, but the wind was to my face on this particular tee shot. I hit it within 11 foot to set up a birdie look, which I missed.

It’s a much easier to hit off deck than I expected. Works as a 4 iron really well.

A little offset preview in the 20 degree

Were you trying to line it up on the toe?
It’s not setting flush on the face Pending I swing correctly that strike should move more towards the middle haha. I had just gotten of the exercise bike and was struggling haha

Looks like a tight lie
Just a little. I hit one ball with an older club one day. Didn’t feel well. There isn’t a green part of my yard right now to take any pictures outside

My 18* UT arrived yesterday. I went with the standard length even though I plan my irons half an inch over standard. The stock length feels long enough. Anyway, I went with the UST 110 Proto shaft. Based on the swings on the sim, it should be a good pairing for me.

I’m currently using the new 21* UW in the spot the UT would go. Comparing the two, the UT was lower spinning by 1000 rpm’s. The UW averaged more ball speed though. I’m having an issue with Foresight at the moment and can’t see peak height, but I was surprised to see that the descent angles were the same.

Why the 18° to challenge the UW and not the 20°?

First swing at the range with the 18* felt amazing.
