2025 Cobra King and King X Wedges

I’m loving that the testers are getting out there in poor conditions to really put these through their paces

Just completed a wedge matrix on the SkyTrak+ with these.

Interesting stats here from the Wedge Matrix. Exactly what I expected to see based on early use with the Cobra King wedges. I can pretty much pick a target line and hit these on it. As you can see the 54.12 D grind has been the star of the show from distance and accuracy.

As I’ve mentioned previously my 58* is typically a club used out of bunkers and around the green for flop/touch shots. I have confidence and the club delivers for longer wedge shots. 3/4 swing is the hardest I would go with this wedge.

The 54* has been the workhorse so far through testing. I have dialed this club in for those 70-80yd shots and can drop it on a dime if you give me a distance between those numbers. The ball comes off the face on the center every time and the club is so simple to deliver to the ball.

The 50* is where things get dicey. I struggle with full swing wedges, but feel somewhat comfortable full swinging from that 95-105yd distance. Anything longer I have no idea what the result will be.

Another 18 with the Cobra King wedges this morning, and they are still refusing to disappoint me. Some good work with the 60* V, mostly 1/2 swing shots that needed to get up quick and land soft, which they did, and a couple of very nice full swing shots. It was wet early morning conditions, so spin wasn't going to be all that great, but the high shots landed soft and stayed close to where they landed anyway. The 56* D is getting more and more use in the chipping game, my 50* has always been my go to club for chipping, but this 56* D is starting to take over a bit, the D grind is just so confidence inspiring.

For those that use a 58/60 for greenside bunker shots, what grinds do you recommend?

The 58 WL is what I went with and has been exceptional in the limited bunker shots I’ve had with it.

Had to run into the PGASS and my bag only having the V grind. I decided to find the king wedges to see the other grinds in person. Wow both the T & W grinds I could easily see myself playing.

What kind of sand are you playing out of mostly?

I’d really like to see the T grind. I don’t think any of us testing them went with that grind.

I'm with @leftybob on this one, depends on the kind of bunkers you play. For nice soft fluffy sand I'd say the high bounce D grind, unfortunately we don't have much of that kind of sand around here, mostly either real hard, or real heavy, so the V or WL is what should work best. I went with the 60* V.

I refused to allow this to be a data filled monitor review. I've done that along with my other reviews in the past. If you guys want numbers I'll go get them this weekend. Instead:

Today on chip shots I hit the flag stick 3 times. From 100 in the confidence is GROWING

The flight is easily kept low or hit higher. Pick your shot and set up. These give it to me.

The V grind at 50 degrees hasn't been great for chipping until today. Hit some really nice chips that, along with the Chrome Tour, had enough spin to allow me to be aggressive and go after the pin.

The D grind today from some thick rough checked up really hard when I played for release. I didn't think there was any way to keep that ball short of the flag. The control was surprising

WideLow 58 degrees today was really strong. Down hill lies have been conquered. The ball gets up in the air. On a 50 yard shot I threw one high and long into the bank about 55 yards. It spun back beyond the hole to leave me a 10 foot par putt (of course I missed it) I had no reason to believe spin was that high on such a short shot.

The widelow doesn't dig. The D grind also moved across the grass today with no issues.

Very happy with the first two weeks of testing

Would you say the courses you play on is the turf firm or soft? And would you say your swing is steeper or shallower? What’s you normal miss with a wedge? Do you think these wedges and grinds help you with that miss?

I’m afraid of the T grind, feels like you’d have to be more exact with that than I am.

Coming back to this thread.. these look so good in the black finish!

I play on all types. The courses are usually between mountains and also exposed on the other side to wind. Can be very hard to very muddy.

I change swing depending on shot need. Normal miss is a pull or short.

SO FAR these seem to have helped with the left miss and the proximity is better on fuller shots

It’s not fluffy and not really hard pan. Something in between
Last Sunday the bunkers I was playing out of were full of firm wet sand and the 58V was really good. The V really is the do everything wedge grind in the cobra lineup.

Sim time at noon. Gonna see if I can remove the cover of a golf ball

Versatile grind 50 degree: 120 yards carry, 122 total. Backspin 8600 rpm

D grind 54 degree: 106 carry, 107 total back spin 9000 rpm

Widelow 58 degree 94 carry, 95 total back spin 10800rpm

They spin in a very acceptable rate. The flight isn't crazy high to get stopping power. I done some chips and short pitches around the green to see what the numbers were. A 50 yard pitch shot with a widelow was spinning 6k Thats more than enough.

As stated in previous review notes, greenside spin isn't an issue at all.

Great results. I agree with the amount of spin these wedges generate. I haven’t had many shots into a green release more than I want.

I was going to get out to the course this afternoon but expecting rain, so it’s going to be some time in the SIM with these.

I've had some check in ways I didn't expect. Spin has been much improved from the Snakebite version. Feel is really good. There isn't much here to not like. This testing saved me some cash because these are staying in the bag. They do everything I would want, well.

Got another round in yesterday and had a chance to try the slightly open 56D hop and stop shot I love a couple times. The first time I had a slightly uphill lie and about 30-40’ to the hole which was on a shelf that I didn’t want to go past. I mishit it a little and missed my line but it hopped and stopped exactly like I wanted and needed it to. Otherwise I would have had 15+ feet to save par instead of 3-4’. The second attempt with a similar shot was from 30 yards and I got a little frisky with it, I think I thinned it slightly. Not a one hop and check this time, I left myself 8-10’ for birdie and missed the tricky downhill putt. I know I can hit that shot better but it was a decent miss at least and wasn’t the fault of the club.

I had the opportunity to use the 56D with a more straight face a couple times, and the results were stellar at least a couple times. The ball pops off the face nicely, almost with a springy feeling when you center it. The height is pretty predictable and not overly difficult to manipulate.

I also had a second attempt out of sand with the 60V. This one was from wet firm sand and unfortunately I didn’t get down into the sand enough. The clubbed bounced into the ball a bit but I managed to keep the ball barely on the correct shelf. It was a couple inches from going down a massive hill and leaving me 40-60’ up a 5’ hill so I was pleasantly surprised and relieved with my ”miss”.

These wedges are so good. Pick a target, put a good swing on the ball and watch the ball fly. After my SIM round hit 5 shots with each wedge at varying greens. 50* - 100yds, 54* - 85yds, 58* - 65yds. 15/15 greens hit.

Data from those swings below.
