@bigbov @thscott05 and tagging @Muchmore as well but I'm assuming he's already got his travel locked in and will be arriving at GrayBull early.

Let's go boys! Can't wait to meet everyone and have a blast.

Use this thread to talk travel and a pre-round hopefully. Did some preliminary flight checking and it looks like the flight from Denver to North Platte arrives 6:20PM-ish, so too late to fly in Sunday. As of right now, my plan is to fly into Denver then North Platte Saturday 6/7 and get a hotel room for the night. Play a round Sunday morning and then over to GrayBull. Flights out of North Platte to Denver leaves 11:30am, so get a room Tuesday night and fly back home Wednesday.

I'm up to splitting a van and carpooling if that works.

Thanks for setting up this thread. I checked flights and came up w/ same plan. Get in Saturday night & stay in hotel. Find somewhere to hopefully play Sunday morning and then to Graybull. Tuesday night hotel back in North Platte and then fly Wed.

I am all for splitting a Van as well.

I will be flying in to NP that Sunday at 10 and then leaving Wednesday morning. No need to rush out of there on Tuesday. So if anyone wants to split a hotel room Tuesday night, I’m in

Just looked and it seems like flying in Saturday morning and leaving Wednesday makes the most sense for me as well!

I'm now toying around with the idea of driving in from Texas. 14 hour drive. Stillwater, Oklahoma is basically exactly halfway which would provide an excellent excuse to stop and play Karsten Creek on the way there. Haven't done a proper road trip in a couple years, which is one of my favorite things to do and this would be a heck of a reason to do it!

Looking at flights this morning. $600 round trip from Syracuse to North Platte to fly economy. $1200 to fly first class. $90 bag fees each way so now $780 economy but no bag fees first class obv. This is w/ United and if I open their reward CC I get $300 off basically. Can get the $300 off economy too I think but not really counting that. So $780 economy or $900 first class.... what would you do?

You deserve it! No manifesting needed!

I mean for that price difference first class seems like the easy choice… live it up!

Wildhorse is a great course in Gothenburg, NE

If getting a credit card is something you want to do, first class. But I wouldn’t open a CC just for one trip

I would have to check and make sure no annual fee. We have 2 main ones we use for the points and pay off every Friday. Try not to carry any real open debt. Got burned years ago and learned the hard way. This one I would open for the trip and then pay it off. Probably not really use it again unless I wanted miles.

Usually travel cards do have annual fees, especially airline cards. I have a Delta one and it's steep but has enough that it makes it worth it.

Yeah... I will def check now. Appreciate the heads up.

Flights booked! In on Saturday out on Wednesday. Just did economy with free seats, hoping once we get closer better seats will open up for less.

Will look into a rental and hotels at some point; the hard part’s done.

Awesome.. I’m out of town this weekend but was looking to book right away as well. Doing same schedule and assume we will all be coming in on that Sat flight to North Platte. Lmk what hotel u come up w/ and I will book rooms there too. Thx!

Paging @Wonger to this thread. Don’t want you to miss the shenanigans.

Booked my flights this morning. Starting to feel real. Cannot wait for June.

I have a deadline tomorrow for work, but I'll start looking at hotels for Saturday and Tuesday nights as well as looking at rental vehicles.

@thscott05 have you confirmed you're driving or still undecided?

Not 100% decided but strongly leaning towards driving.

Some options here but unsure of which I will do. Best flight option is to book separately into Denver and from there into North Platte. I would plan to arrive Sat night and depart Wed so all that pretty consistent with the rest.
My other option is driving which would be 10ish hours. Have done way longer drives before but do not enjoy them.
But I could break this one up. 4 hours, stop in South Dakota, the motherland to overnight, then the remaining 6 on Saturday. Lot’s of 2 lane highway through nowhere SD and Nebraska. There is a more direct route keeping me on interstates through Iowa but the overnight there is not as appealing.

All that to say lots of options to which I have not decided on a one!

I am doing the separate flight to Denver and then Denver to NP if that means anything to ya!
