2025 Handicap Challenge - Let's Go Low!

Jumped to 8.2 after yesterday round.

Broke 80 again today but the cap will go up again. Sigh.

Scores are trending well and I’m playing consistent level of golf so I can’t complain a lot about it

Where do play in and around Rockport. When we're down there we usually play Lozano or Oso. We've done Palmilla and North shore also.
Typically, Rockport Country Club. I’ve played Lozano a few times. Been meaning to play Palmilla, but haven’t yet.

Isn't RCC members only? Palmilla is fun. But reduced to 9 holes after the hurricane.

Now that I work fully remote and the kids will be home with a sitter over the summer I may start getting up and going to the range or playing 9 more before work. Should help really get in a groove and see the scores come down more. As of now I went down to 4.5, my lowest ever, but quickly back up to 4.9 and my next posting will have it most likely jump as one of my better scores to end the year last year is falling off.

I had a decent round yesterday that dropped my handicap slightly, but could have been so much better. 3 OB balls cost me a really good score.

I've stayed level at 3.9...need to get some to drop into the 2's

Played an easier course on Sunday. Narrow but clear under the line of trees that separate the holes. Played well despite tee shot woes. Back to sub 9! (8.8). Clearly its my tee game that is holding me back.

Another good round this past weekend has me hovering close to my 12 month low.

Finished out May with my two worst rounds of the tear and in a long time. Because of that, I saw a slight bump up. Hoping I can get rid of the case of the **** that I’ve developed with my wedges pretty quickly here in June.

I'm thrilled to see so many of us in this challenge! 71 to be exact at this time. That's going to be a lot of dropped strokes at the end of the year!

I know many have good score from last year dropping off, but the year is young and we've seen several members here drop an impressive amount already. I believe in our goal, I believe in us. I'm currently trying to get swings in at home while taking care of the baby, but come July and normal schedule, I'll be shooting to go low and fast.

As an end of May update, I'd like to ask that those who've not filled in some data do it in the sheet, unfortunately I can't be counted on picking them up from the thread right now.

Added in my May handicap. As expected my trip to Bandon moved me up a little bit as I had a few good rounds drop off, and while I played good at Bandon it's still incredibly hard to shoot well there. Since then I've had a few decent rounds back at my home course and am back down to a 11.7

How do I make the change to add my index as of June 1?

How do I make the change to add my index as of June 1?
You open the sheet (here) and put in your end of the month indexes to the boxes for HCP 4/2025 & 5/2025. You're on row 9. The sheet is built so that it just needs what your index was at the end of each month.

Updated.

What do you mean by open the sheet?

How do I do the update?
Tell you what, just tell me what your cap was at the end of April and May and I'll put it up :)

But if you want to do it yourself, click on this link and it opens a Google sheet. Then you scroll down to row 9 where your info is at. Then add the indexes for the months of April and May. If you're on mobile, it takes a click more.

I'm actually not sure if it's the same on iOS, but on Android, you click here:

And it guides you to open the Sheets app for the edits. On desktop it's much more straightforward.

If anyone has issues at some point this year getting the scores up, just tag me in the post with the index and I'll sort it when I can.

I think I'm headed the right direction after my career low round, hoping I can keep it going!

I don't want to be dramatic but I've been playing some really bad golf. Luckily I have a few more rounds before I have to post a good number. Unfortunately, a very good number is lurking in the not so far off future. June's a new month to get after it.
