2025 MLB Thread + Hot Stove Off Season

Meh... tame by old days standards....

That was funny until the brawls started. The number of times the Padres failed to hit Pascal Perez was comical. And they finally hit and he was so far away from the plate.

Also, it was interesting to see some of the people involved especially the ones with the Yankees connections (Nettles, Gossage, Chambliss, Torre and Ed Whitson)

I have always found it stupid that umpires try to stop brawls.

Let them go, eject who can't act like an adult, and move on.
Yep... agree 100%.

The Dodgers and Padres don’t like each other. They have had something like 11 or 13 hit batters in their games so far this season. Last night the managers nearly got into a fight after Tatis was hit in the wrist by a rookie doing mop up work in a game the Dodgers conceded.
To throw at a guy when you're down 5 in the 9th is a typical Dodgers move. I grew up a Padres fan and have watched this rivalry for many years. This garbage doesn't happen when the Padres aren't on a competitive level with the Dodgers.

Like JB pointed out, Tatis has been HBP three times in this series, a total of 6 HBPs by Dodgers pitchers, but only 10 HBP in his career. You can't convince me he's not being thrown at.

The weird thing is, the first two plunkings of Tatis seemed far more intentional than this one. The 2nd one, there's no way it wasn't on purpose. But in general, it seems like the Padres manager is most upset teams keep pitching Tatis high and inside. But.... wouldn't you?

This is ugly.

ohtani is the man, he knew it was coming and took it in stride. i also can't stand PED boy tatis but i never want to see someone take one on the hand, elbow or head....if you're going to hit someone hit him in the butt or thigh.

In looking at the box scores I see that Tatis was hit 2x in this series and once in SD on June 10.

If I'm SD I don't care if it is intentional or not. He's one of my stars, enough is enough. Also, a lot of this started with Pages getting hit in the 1st game and getting heated about it. Pages was wrong. They were not throwing at him. It is worth noting that Pages and Ohtani were also hit 2x in this series. Both of Ohtani's were obviously on purpose.

I know I am biased but I don't think they are throwing at Tatis on purpose.

Top of 3rd, Dodgers winning 2-1 with a runner on 2B and 0 out. Trivino pitching.
Top of 1st, 0-0, nobody on nobody out. Trivino pitching.
Top of 9th, 5-0 SD, runner on 1st, 1 out. Little pitching.

The 1st two are obvious situations where you are not going to put a runner on base on purpose. The last one is a situation where you could plunk somebody but see the pitch - it was a 93MPH fast ball on the white line of the batters box. He didn't get out of the way.

Notice the pitchers...Trivino and Little are journeymen / minor leaguers. It was Little's major league debut and he wasn't exactly dealing - he walked in a run earlier in the game.

Here's hoping Tatis' MRI comes back clean.

big early season series between the mets and Phillies. the Phillies are definitely a roller-caoster team up and down and very streaky. right now the Phillies are on an up swing and the mets are on a down swing but the mets have owned the Phillies lately. the Phils being home and having Wheeler and Luzardo 2 of the games should help. i'm hoping for 2 out of 3.

Looks like I may be taking my son to a Mets game at Citi Field in August. We will be driving up from Deleware. Anyone who's been and can offer tips... I am all ears. Send me a PM if you prefer to not clutter this chat. Thanks!

Saw Kershaw throw a 2H CG there years back. He was perfect in to the 7th and Granderson broke it up. Neighborhood sucks from what I remember but this was a while ago now. I do remember being able to park basically next to the stadium as I got there early. There was a nice Irish pub/restaurant attached to the stadium as well so thats where we hung out until gates opened.

Short delay in Rays game and learned Caminero is not playing today for a rest day

3 more hours till Red Sox vs Devers

I actually haven’t been to Citi Field. I had been to Shea numerous times.

Good start with first batter going deep for a Yandy bomb

4-0 Rays and still in the 1st.
Let’s go @jdtox

I didn't get notification the game started. Gotta fire up the second screen.

Back to back struggle performances for Flaherty. He needs to get it together.

I don't hate these Rays unis. They're better than a lot of other City Connects.

Skyway Bridge into Ray.
Plus a bit of skateboard culture.

I’m not a huge fan of them, but part of that, as I think it dates a little back to the devil rays, and I just like the sun-ray kind of thing more

Riley Greene HR and now it’s 4-3

Riley Greene doesn't know how to hit short home runs. It's all or nothing.

Well this has unraveled

Let’s go Rays
8-3 now and have a chance for more

@ddec

The Yankees are owning the dessert game
