Looks to be at least touching - they gave it the ol' filled in circle treatment.

Definitely less in than the ball called on the second pitch - but still in;

Toronto got some juicy ones late, for sure. Bottom of the zone was a mix. I remember that Gausman pitch vividly lmao

Was more bitter about the no swing call on Julio early, but that's fine. It was definitely close.

I think the guy actually did alright for a big spot. He wasn't a big factor for most of the game which is nice.

I love umpire scorecards so much. They are a fun follow.

well played Blue Jays. did a great job of getting off the mat after the early punch in games 1-2, they played better, and deserved the win. Congratulations and enjoy the moment. Well deserved getting to the World Series, they earned every bit of it.

Would have been iconic moment for neutral fans to watch Cal R face Hoffman

It's hard because the first one was probably a strike but it was called a ball. The 2nd was a makeup call but was less of a strike and you already conditioned Geno to see that as a ball which is unfair.

Personally I see consistency in umpiring being more important than right/wrong but I'm not sure it's seen that way anymore.

I'm with you. Very interesting that the second one in a similar spot (yet further away) gets the call. Kirky can sure frame the crap out of a pitch, that's for sure.

I've always been intrigued by the umps who have a clear shift of their plate vision, and I'll admit it's kind of fun when it's consistent throughout the game. Where the box shifts uniquely for them vs the natural plate.

When it happened, I was thinking "that's too close to take with 2 strikes Geno!" - still true - but then I saw the umpire cam catching what Geno said to the ump. He said "that was the exact same pitch as the other one!" And I realized he had a point.

I booked the room a while ago which is basically half of the price now so that was a win. The GA tix have been coming down in price everyday. We just want to be in the building.
 
I was wondering what to do tonight, and now I know. Yay.
