2025 MLB Thread + Hot Stove Off Season

About time. At least it was a former Brave.

That was pretty nuts.

At this rate @THE BOV will just be waking up in time for the 20th inning!
lol.. I’m old. Fell asleep in 6th and woke up in 12th cuz I had to pee. Couldn’t go back to sleep and miss this.

FREDDIE!!!!!!!

Just realized it was Little again. That guy has had a rough month.

Blue Jays used up their bullpen Dodgers will have a BP advantage for the next game
It was a hard fought match by both teams
Blue Jays came up too Little too late

Sounds like a crazy game. I just watched the highlights from when I went to bed in the 6th onwards. 9 pitchers for TOR, 8 from the pen. Not too bad. 10 pitchers for the LAD, but good for Klein eating 4 innings there. Would've been hilarious to see position players coming out to throw in a WS game.

Time for game 4 already haha? Sox won game 4 in 2018 after losing the 18 inning game.

Dodgers used up their bullpen too. They were ready to send Yamamoto in for the 19th inning. Not sure they have any advantage tonight.

They broke the Win Probability chart last night.

Went to bed at the bottom of the 7th tied 5-5.
Missed more than half a game.

exhausted.
gutted.

I am grateful for every second of this ride. This team of ragtag lunatics with some extremely big talent mixed in. But man it hurts to go to bed like that.

One thing I can't stop rattling around in my head from last night.. So many of Toronto's big names were out of the lineup by the time it got to extras. In a 9 inning game it's fine, but it shows how problematic that choice can be. Also, Lauer was a demon. So proud of him, and Fisher. I'm a bit mixed on pulling Bassitt so early but again, who could have known it'd go that long.

Ugh.

Same. Roberts used two starters - Kershaw and Sheehan - for a combined 3 innings and had 3 relievers go a combined 1 inning. Turned out that was seriously playing with fire.

Ohtani got on base in all 9 at bats last night, that is bananas

what an incredible game. So many things.

1) if Dodger fans really cheered Springer getting injured...(had to leave the room for a few seconds to see wife off to work so did not see that moment and my wife insists on the $%^& RoKU so don't have DVR. then again, that is the biggest complaint I have about my wife so I am blessed, she is truly special)...I am embarrassed. Classless move. I like Springer. Fantastic player, seems like good dude and you NEVER cheer an injury. I hope he comes back full strength this series.

2) I would love to see the umpire grading and who it favored. There were a number of early count calls both ways that flipped at bats. For some inexplicable reason I am extremely sensitive to that right now. And I think Jays fans can make a credible argument it favored Dodgers and Dodgers fans can make credible argument favored Jays but some of those calls..oh man, those sucked.

3) I laughed out loud when Smith bat flipped the warning track but was laughing so hard I woke both dogs when Hernandez posed a fly out that did not even reach the warning track.

4) walking the nine hitter intentionally is stupid. Making the mistake of not getting the next guy out is worse.

5) Ohtani seems to be out of his slump. Good news for my side...

6) what a game. Guys on both sides coming up again and again, whether pitchers or defensive gems...that play where an inch lower Freeman catches it and it is double play but instead becomes throwout at third for one...Jays throwing guys out left and right...

I asked for a scoring game with lots of traffic., Until 5-5 it looked like it and then...lol...the second game of the double header was a pure pitchers duel.

When Kershaw came in I was thinking he would do classic post-season Kershaw...give up some fluky defensive slow roll single that found a hole that wasn't there to bring in two followed by a monster home run followed by an emphatic punchout after it was too late. Pretty funny that a generational pitcher is so poor in post season the announcers were even "probably last pitch of his career"...

I feel for the Jays fans. So many gut punches. What an incredible game.

And happy for Frank and I. I go to bed at 8:30 so staying up til midnight...something I don't do for new years eve...it had to be something special and it was.

Yamamoto complete game gave Dodgers bullpen more rest than Blue Jays bullpen
Also Dodgers have an extra pitcher on staff in Shohei So even more rest for Dodger bullpen

Not sure if you caught it but later in the game the announcers shared there have been 22 balls hit with the same exit velocity and launch angle this season as with Smith’s fly out. 21 of them were HRs.

All this talk about your pen being trash, and we went like an entire baseball game inside a baseball game without getting a runner into scoring position with them out there. Unsung heroes for sure.

I think I read the Dodgers went with 12 pitchers and the Jays have 13. They are short on arms. Their most reliable reliable reliever and his wife potentially encountered a late stage lost pregnancy last week, their closer had minor surgery / a procedure @2 weeks ago, two of their normal set up guys are injured. Klein, Henriquez and Wroblenski are guys who spent substantial time in AAA
