2025 MLB Thread + Hot Stove Off Season

Games were definitely more accessible when I was a kid.
When I was a kid, the games were on in the afternoon. We used to bring transistor radios to school with ear pieces to listen to the weekday games.

I grew up a Cubs fan, so daytime baseball was the only baseball most of the time.

The last time the Jays were in this position, I was like.. 8. I remember moments but not a ton.

What's hilarious is that Cal can't stay up as bad as he wants to. He gives up somewhere between 9:15 and 10 every game. Wife has stayed on the couch (albeit asleep a bit) every game and I love her for it.

8pm starts SUCK for young fans.
8pm sucks for us old early risers too. At least game 6 and hopefully game 7 will be on Fri/Sat.

I don’t know. I remember games in the middle of the school day, trying to sneak radios into class to listen. This is better than that.

Depends on what coast you are on.

1973 was the first time that the weekday World Series games were at night. The first series I remember was in 1967.

I understand why. It’s all about TV. But the night games should start at 7 Eastern Time.

I am trying to figure out how the Jays are ahead in this series. The only things they are doing better than the Dodgers are pitching, hitting, defense and managing. Dodgers are either breaking even or dominating every other category...

Still hoping the Dodgers find a way to pull it out but everything I am seeing says the Jays are the better team.

And in a sick way I think that is funny; this Dodger team core has been around for...well, this run feels like a decade and if they end the run with 2 series wins...it would have to rank with the Braves of the 90s as most underperforming "dynasties" of all time...

The simple fact is the Jays have been the better team this series.

hopefully you caught that in the part where I listed every facet of the game sans baserunning I could think of and gave the Jays the edge there...lol...both teams have...lets say scuffled in the baserunning. But the Dodgers are playing the role of last years yankees...shockingly poor defense, no hitting, tiomely or otherwise...

i may not have been clear in my lame joke attempt but I agree with you wholeheartedly...the Jays have been excelling while the Dodgers have been...uh...not.

7pm would be a dream for me. I woke up and watched the 12th inning on during the 18 inning game. The others I have fallen asleep and just grabbed my phone 1st thing when I wake up at 4:30. Has not been kind the last 2 nights.

It may feel that way to us Dodgers fans fans but they did win 2 World Series in 4 years and 1 out of 2 (presumptively) since Ohtani signed.

I did not catch the sarcasm either. I legitimately started running through the facets of baseball outside of hitting, pitching, defense, and managing.

Like spending and deferring?

Still a ring. 😁

potential hot take incoming.

Barry Bonds should be in the hall of fame and highly revered.

"He was a roid monster"

And your point is? A LOT of guys were...not a lot of guys were hitting 70 home runs at an age a lot of players retired. He took an advantage and turned it into something. A lot of guys took an advantage and were...less successful.

Kid of reminds me of the Lance Armstrong discussion..."roids"..Yeah, came back from double testicular cancer, rode in an era where they just decided there were no winners from '99-2005 because they might have to go as deep as the 24th rider to find one not known or suspected of doping...

He rode in certain conditions. He won. Move on.

The Astros played in certain conditions. They won. Let it go.

They did something no 'Stros had ever done before, lets let them enjoy it.

I agree but the only things I am going offer up in this thread today is I hope the Jays win it tonight.

I've never been more fond of you lmao

3–2 for Toronto
One more win for the Blue Jays to save baseball

That was so much fun. One year when I was in high school for a Cubs opener one of my friends had a battery operated TV. Somehow we managed to watch the whole game by cutting class sneaking it in and being late for practice. I know I’m WSOX but I had to join in the fun.

Been a long time since there has been day games
