2025 MLB Thread + Hot Stove Off Season

I'll be honest, I'm gutted. Everyone counted Toronto out from the second it was announced.

That said, they showed who they are, and took the absolute juggernaut of baseball to extras in seven games. Anyone sending any sort of disrespect their way is either unfamiliar with the sport, or an a**hole. That was beyond gutsy, with massive chunks of their payroll (Varsho and Santander) being basically dead bats the entire series.

I'm proud as hell to be a Jays fan tonight. I'm absolutely completely gutted, and honestly it's been a bit of a **** week for being gutted, but I can't wait for them to run it back - hopefully with some great new faces.
Man I know exactly how you’re feeling right now unfortunately. I really wanted them to do it.

I'm happy for you Dodgers fans. You've shown a lot of grace during this series and I really respect the ability to make the experience enjoyable from both sides despite clearly rooting for the opposite team. it was nice to enjoy it with you, rather than fight and argue the whole series.

I hope your team gets obliterated by some sort of emergency CBA adjustment to save the league, but, that's not relevant tonight lmao - Enjoy every second of it, back to back is a generational experience it seems.

Must be nice to buy every all star and get first dibs on every top player that comes from japan. What an accomplishment/cinderella story.
It really is.. Boo ******* Hoo

No disrespect Sir. I am a **** talker and that was a hell of a series.

Dude... I'm sorry someone had to lose this series. I was just texting my buddy who I went to Game 2 with and we both agree that it sux there is a loser here. I'm a big Blue Jays fan going forward. Thanks for being awesome during this series my man... was so much fun.

The sad part is, until they are breaking the rules, how can you possibly blame them? It's one group out of 30 who are willing to spend every penny to get the job done.

Well, I guess technically my team was down to spend a lot too, guys just don't want to live in Toronto lmao

Thats problem though. You saw players take less money simply to stack on the dodgers. They pass up money simply to get an easy ring. So the dodgers can buy who ever they want buy and they don’t even have to as they get any big name who is ring chasing and funnel every good talent from Japan over. We’ve seen Japanese stars take significantly less money just to join the dodgers for an easy championship. The sport is broken when one team has a grip on international talent simply gloryhunting. First thing needs to be done is a draft or something so that one team can’t monopolize the pipeline like that.

I don’t think the Japanese players are looking for an easy championship. They’re looking to play with their countrymen. And since LA is giving half a bil to the two biggest stars in those ranks, that’s where they are.

The dodgers WS topps cards are already out

Dodgers luxury tax more than over half the league's team total salaries. League is broken.

They also put like 80% or higher of all revenue back into payroll. Look up other teams percentages. It's not that simple.

Championship makes them legends in their countries. Japan is built on an achievement mentality. That’s how they are measured. They know that. Status and achievement is everything in that part of the world. There’s a reason Son got out of military duty in South Korea for winning a trophy. In Asia winning a national title of any kind is the ultimate honor. They don’t care if it’s an easy championship. It’s not a coincidence you see them pass more money to play for clear WS favorite.

Clayton Kershaw just going shirtless in postgame celebration is perfect.

Any professional league should have competitive balance. If the breakdown results in a team having 3-4x the avaerage team salary, then the system is broken. Not LA's fault. They took advantage of the situation. But as a fan of a team that cant compete with New York or LA, it's ********.

I totally get it and actually agree that system is dumb. Everyone forgets that the Dodgers filed bankruptcy 15 years ago tho. Literally couldn't make payroll.... they just got great ownership coming out of that.

The Dodgers were the first team to invest in all things Japanese baseball. It goes back decades. And because of that Japan is Dodger territory. That’s a big part of why Japanese players want to come.

Man that was a good World Series probably the best full playoff stretch in baseball in a few years with drama and good matchups right from the start and going all the way to a comeback game seven World Series win.

Also nice to see the dodgers taking some of the payroll to big heat of my Yankees.

And if you told me six months ago a Dodger pitcher was going to be MVP of the World Series I would not have picked that one but I think it show how much impact, even with all the publicity of Ohtani as a two way player gets, just a great regular pitcher has on a team

Congratulations to the Blue Jays on a great run and season. Really loved watching Vlad Jr.

I’m gutted for you bro, but that was one hell of a run by a team many counted out. I hope you guys lift that trophy soon.

Exciting game 7. Side rant, I wish major sports coverage would eliminate an on-field reporter asking a manager questions during play, especially live play. Get their ass off the field! Rant over.:)
