2025 MLB Thread + Hot Stove Off Season

The Dodgers were the first team to invest in all things Japanese baseball. It goes back decades. And because of that Japan is Dodger territory. That’s a big part of why Japanese players want to come.
It’s also geographically the closest mlb city to Japan

Woke up this morning and of course watched the replay. At the end my wife walked in and I had tears in my eyes. She starts making fun of me but I had to explain that I wasn't tearing up because the Dodgers won. It was the broadcast showing Vladdy crying at the end. I am over the moon that the Dodgers won the 🏆 but I do find myself heartbroken that there had to be a loser. I like that Blue Jays team an awful lot.

He validated his contract in every possible way. He's pure. He's Blue Jays baseball. last guy to leave the bench last night. Watched a hell of a lot longer than I did.

Also, I didn't notice this. BIG respect to this guy.

I do truly hope he wins a ring. Heck... I like every player on that team (even Springer has grown on me). I pulled for them every other round so I could get to go to a WS game and they really are fun team to watch. They play baseball how it should be played.

I actually noticed that on the replay this morning but wasn't sure if it was a nod to Vladdy. These 2 teams genuinely liked each other... which made the benches clearing funny last night because no one really wanted to fight.

What a game 7 that was and what a series overall. Having watched tons of sports over the years you just had a feeling the Dodgers were going to win it somehow.

I didn’t have a dog in that fight but Extra innings a game 7 is everything I could have asked for as a sports fan.

Yamamoto is something, you just don’t see starting pitchers pitch 2 days in a row like that anymore.

Dodgers payroll aside, that series and game reminded me why baseball is so good and especially in the postseason. In a day and age where they refs often steal the show or make an egregious call that affects the outcome this was played between the lines and I really enjoyed it as a fan of sports.

So I know what you’re saying here because of Nomo starting the run the brought Ichiro (to not LA mind you) but ignoring that the Giants were actually the first team to have a Japanese player is peak Dodger fan.

I totally get it and actually agree that system is dumb. Everyone forgets that the Dodgers filed bankruptcy 15 years ago tho. Literally couldn't make payroll.... they just got great ownership coming out of that.
Frank McCourt was such a good owner. The Dodgers funded his extravagant lifestyle with his wife to the extent that he had to borrow money make payroll and run the team. Then there was his divorce. That ended up being really expensive too.

The Dodgers bankruptcy was tied in with the owners’ divorce proceedings and the Ownership of the Dodgers was a huge issue in the divorce. And McCourt literally had to sell the team because of the divorce.

Yeah... he basically bought the Dodgers on credit. Very thankful for the ownership group they have now.

Let’s not ruin this great day with use of the M word.

you're out of your ******* mind with all the anti Toronto ****.

That was one of the gutsiest performances of all time.
One of the best series in a long time. The Blue Jays put up one hell of a fight. By the time we were late in the game last night, my wife was saying “I want the Blue Jays to win!” I gave her a look and she said “sorry but they’re the underdogs and doing awesome. It’s a fun story and I’d be proud of them.“

It was a hell of a series and the Dodgers are lucky to get out of that one. They played well in big spots, but definitely needed some luck to go their way.

The ability to actually see what the pitcher said was interesting.

Yeah... stuff like that gets said all the time. Especially in college. We just don't usually get to see it.

A seven game series, a very dramatic 9th inning and extra innings in the final game was a great script. that was missing was a huge walk off moment and a Toronto win.

I was a huge Mattingly fan as a kid, so I was pulling for the Jays.

Dodgers, blah…but it was a great series.

Toronto fans need a scrapegoat and points to IKF didn’t beat out the throw at home plate cause he took small lead at 3rd base
There is so many plays in the game can’t really pin blame the loss on one Blue Jay player but salty Toronto media has too do their job
