2025 MLB Thread + Hot Stove Off Season

Toronto fans need a scrapegoat and points to IKF didn’t beat out the throw at home plate cause he took small lead at 3rd base
There is so many plays in the game can’t really pin blame the loss on one Blue Jay player but salty Toronto media has too do their job
I coached for a long time and I really emphasized base running. It was bad fundamental base running by IKF. But it is also fundamentally true that we win as a team and lose as a team.

There were several baserunning mistakes for the Jays in not just game 7, but the series as a whole

What are we looking at here? I don’t understand it.
When the ground ball is hit the runner is still basically standing on 3rd. No secondary lead with bases loaded and third baseman not holding him to the bag. Only concern is a line drive to 3B but batter is lefty and runner can react instantly on ground ball vs line drive.

Seattle/LA, close enough. It's the closest willing to pay half a billion ha.

does Seattle have a MLB team? for decades the joke has been, "Why does Seattle have the Mariners? Because if they got a major league team Portland would want one"

(sorry Seattleites...cheap shot. I wanted the mariner to win this year.)

First post will be all about the competition...first off let me say...what a great series. The Jays probably deserved to win. I feel like they had more hits ,scored more runs overall, played great defense.

Additionally, they took the Dodgers perceived greatest advantage...starting pitching...and completely turned that on its head. Snell, Glasnow, Ohtani...Jays had their number.

They also had some epic performances...how can you not love Yesavage? Legend. What a series that guy pitched, coming out of nowhere. I expect him to be a thorn in the side of teams I am pulling for over the next few years. Dude made his name...then topped it.

Clements...what a series for him as well, record for most hits? Gotta tip the cap.

I wish Springer and Bichette had been healthy. Incredible players, not able to perform to their standard due to injury sucks and I feel for them.

Make no mistake, I wanted the Dodgers to win, but holy smoke were the Jays great in that Series. Dude whose name eludes me at the moment with the epic porn stache that looks like he could ride with Ponch and John...yes, a CHiPS reference...dude is a player.

Having been on the wrong end of those moments, I feel for the Jays fans but I hope you enjoyed the ride. Your guys showed up, showed out and much respect to them.

It's kinda crazy though because the Mariners won at least 88 games in 8 different seasons since they last made the playoffs. ~80% chance to make the playoffs with that win total, and also hit 93 wins twice and didn't make the playoffs.

Fans were disappointed when we didn't get Ohtani because he wanted to play here and we have Ichiro but realistically we never had a chance.

Now for the Dodgers...

was texting with my sister who was watching the game and how weird was it to be hoping we could survive getting past the heart of the order to get where we thought we had a chance to score, the bottom of the order? Just absolutely shut down the best hitters.

In the 9th, I had to eat crow...was whining about not pinch-hitting for Rojas. Well...I missed that one. What a moment.

If you told me before the Series Will Klein and Yamamoto are the only guys with a win in the Series I would not believe you. If you told me after that epic performance, Klein would not see the field again? Seriously? I mean, it worked but...how weird was that.

In the end, it was an entertaining series start to finish with some moments that will stand out for me for years to come. Congrats to the Dodgers on the win.

And...I actually kind of agree with the Jays analyst who is not convinced the better team won. But for all the heat they take for the payroll, etc...Dodgers showed a ton of heart.

Final note...should have mentioned this in the Jays post...class move by their relievers wearing Vesia's number on their lids. Heartbreaking for him and non-sports stuff.

why is called the “world series” when the rest of world isn’t invited. Sounds better than MLB championship I guess. At least this year Canada and Japan got involved.

They also put like 80% or higher of all revenue back into payroll. Look up other teams percentages. It's not that simple.
Correct, it’s not simple. But it is reflective of the current economics of baseball and how and why teams may make payroll decisions. People should look at how much revenue the teams put back into payroll. Teams are making considerable money by having really small payrolls. And I think the Mets may have put a higher percentage of revenue back in to payroll than the Dodgers. That didn’t turn out well but Cohen is definitely willing to spend.
