93civiccpe Chasing Confidence

Great to see it’s moving forward again, as well as your stack training. Keep you off those stouts and you’ll be running marathons and hitting bombs.
I'm down almost 20lbs.. haven't had any alcohol in weeks. This is the year of getting healthy and hopefully fixing my ugly swing and playing better golf!!

Another quick update:
As for the metal building, I talked with the company and provided final measurements and they are hoping to have it up at the end of this month (weather permitting). We are excited and they should only need 48 hours to get it installed once the kit is ready. After that I'll get to go back through permitting to get the electrical planned and run to it but we are getting closer.

As far as lessons are concerned, the most recent one is kicking my butt. It's an aspect of my swing that I've hated for a long time but has been difficult to change. Following the drills the swing is looking much better but as soon as I introduce a ball and try full swings I revert right back. I am trusting the process and keeping going. With the nice weather I set this up to keep grinding at the drills.

I had another stack sesson and some more personal bests when it comes to individual swings and sets. I also had a driver shaft fitting at club champion as I've been playing the Diamana BB in 63s and enjoying it but wanted to see if it's the best for my swing. It actually finished in second place. The main reason was that the spin was between 2,600-3,000rpms. The winner was my Ventus Velocore Blue 6s which was straighter and a little longer. It's spin was a little lower (averaging 2400rpms with a few dropping to 1900s). I was worried about the low spin but I was hitting up on the ball between 10-11 degrees and the fitter actually said he liked a little less spin with that swing pattern. I plan to have it in play tomorrow when I'm meeting up with a good friend. I plan to get there early and really focus on the drills and try to trust the new swing.

Quick update on my round yesterday it ended up being a little colder and much more windy than originally forecasted. I got there early only to find out that their range was closed and they said it was cart path only. I was confused as we hadn't had rain since Wednesday. I went to the practice green and saw that they had punched the greens and not sanded them. Fortunately everyone gave the starter a bunch of crap and they checked the course and changed it to 90 degrees. I was going to have to go out cold and told myself to just have fun since I hadn't been able to work on the drills and see where my swing was. The front 9 I was surprisingly hitting the ball decent and scrambling well and was only a few over par. It got more windy as we played and the back was more of a grind and I definitely started to revert back to past swing patterns and lost focus. I still ended up shooting 85 which wasn't terrible. My driver was surprisingly solid as I was focusing on the new feel from the lesson. I only had one OB drive when the wind was harder off the left than I realized and my draw up the right started on a great line but the wind just took it. All in all I'm excited to keep working on the drills but it will take some time to trust it.

Been way too long since the last update. Continuing to slowly lose weight. The metal garage is scheduled to be installed at the end of next week (fingers crossed). Something clicked from my last lesson and though my swing was feeling completely different I was hitting the ball better.

It was just in time for a short golf trip to Orlando where I could put my swing under pressure. The good news is that my driving was under control and I didn't see the repeat of what I experienced in Victoria National (which was a legitimate fear). My rounds were between the mid 80s to mid 90s and I was swinging confidently. Unfortunately we played 72 holes in 2 days and I tweaked something in my back. Just another reminder why I need to lose this weight and continue to strengthen my core. I'm excited to get out again as each round I'm starting to stack confidence though I'm talking it slow as I don't want recurring back issues this year

Another overdue update.. I'm having to learn patience and flexibility this year. I had great ideas and intentions going into the off-season and nothing has gone to plan. The good news is that the new standalone garage is up and is even better than we had imagined. The downside is that I couldn't get an electrician out to estimate doing the electrical work. (Their wait time just to get an estimate was over a month). Therefore I'm going to run the electrical myself. I just got the permit from the county and will trench in a feed line from my existing house panel then run the conduit in the building myself. I'm one step closer but once again it's going to take more time.

As far as golf, I haven't been able to practice or play near as much as I had planned. Once I get my attached garage back as a hitting bay I'm going to be playing catchup and hitting most nights. I have continued to do the stack system and have seen some gains. I am also continuing to slowly lose weight and get in better shape. As for golf, I'm much more confident off the tee now but still too inconsistent. When I am able to get out and play I take the rounds seriously but never forget to enjoy the chance to get out. I know I haven't been able to practice the way I want so I've adjusted my expectations. I'm hoping I can get the electrical work completed and approved over the next month and a half and finally start playing catchup.
