super thread, I showed my son the kind of terrain we had when he was born in Colorado. He was impressed.

We did lots of hiking in the Sierra Nevadas from our condo in N. Lake Tahoe. Now we get in at least a few 5+ mile walks each week on the trails around here but the scenery is a bit different in lake country.

Beautiful! I hiked that area many times in my youth. My kids grew up in California and we haven’t had a chance since we moved back to MN two years ago to get them up hiking on the North Shore of Lake Superior yet but we are planning to do it next summer. So much to see between Two Harbors and Isle Royal.

I’ve hiked the AT, though it seems like a lifetime ago now.

We still hike all the time and my wife enjoys Geocaching along the way. Last year we went to Maine and hiked Cadillac Mtn. The year before it was waterfall themed hikes in Shenandoah, VA.

In two weeks we leave for the Adirondacks and will do plenty of hiking during our stay in Lake George.

We have a lot of local trails being in the Finger Lakes, the dog loves it too...

We love hiking, we just don't do it often enough. We've been to Utah several times, most recently in June, where we spent a few days in Moab and Arches NP (Pictures below). Zion NP is another favorite, been there a couple of times. The first time we did the hike up to Angels Landing. Just beautiful up there!

One of my favorite hikes is along the Lake Superior shoreline at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. You hike 3 miles through the woods and come out on a trail 200 feet above the water, hike 4 miles along the cliffs, then 3 miles back to your car with unbelievable vistas.

this trail was particularly easy to navigate and not far from the parking lot listed on Google Maps (not far off MN 61), plus I had cell service most of the time if you are worried about emergency access and speed. Will post some more later
Yeah, sometime soon. Now is not the time. I've been to some state parks that are a great day hike just off the highways. But your photos just show me I have vacations in our backyard if I want them!

One of my favorite hikes was a 3.5 mile round trip hike to the fire lookout about 700 verticle feet above our condo in King's Beach on the north side of Tahoe. The lower center of the last pic shows the pier and buoy field in front of our condo. The first pic with a bigger view of the lake is from a bike ride about 1700 verticle feet higher than the lake that we used to do a few times each year on a trail above Sand Harbor on the east shore.

We've been doing a lot of hiking post convid. Done Miur Woods and Point Lobos a bunch of times in the last few months. There's a ton of hikes near my house on Mt Diablo. Been doing a bunch of those. Some in the Oakland hills too.

Angels Landing is such a fun hike. That last section with the chains,.

I have seen these sites in person, more than once.

We live in the Pacific northwest and the Mt St Helens area is our favorite to explore. Lava tubes, Canyons, Waterfalls, Rivers and creeks abound! We have two young boys and my wife and I are not in great hiking shape so we keep it to under 5 miles lol! That will change as we get more involved in Scouting as our kids get older.

I love seeing all of the gorgeous photos. It is amazing the beauty that we find all around us in so many different areas. This was a hike I did this morning, literally within 30 minutes of my home.

I really enjoyed my brief visit to SLC last year. Cottonwood was really nice and had some great mountain views. My next trip is going to get up into those mountains some more for hiking (and maybe some golf!).
