Anyone have experience with Axglo E-Carts?

Had my E5 out for 18 the other day, worked flawlessly. While using it, I was thinking about some of the criticism in these comments with regards to remotely controlling the unit. This cart is not meant to be a remote control cart, it is a follow me cart. Anyone who thinks this is something you are going to 'send to the next hole' while on the putting green, is likely to be disappointed. If you expect a great follow me caddy, then this is going to exceed your expectations. You can look at my previous posts to understand how I think the cart is best used and enjoyed.
I agree they are exceptional follow carts but I wouldn't discount just how well they also perform as remote carts. Different courses and who I'm partnered with play a role in how my usage breaks down but I've yet to play a round where I didn't use 'remote cruise' and 'remote' most. Saves me significant steps and time (I'm often with 3 in carts) and provides the safest passage. I send mine toward the next tee on many holes too. Sometimes from the green but also right after playing my approach when the next hole runs parallel(ish). Even on the holes I use 'follow' most, it's not expressly 'follow'. I typically send my cart slowly down the rough in 'remote cruise' as we all tee off and then intercept it 100 yards or so down the hole. Put my driver away, grab my rangefinder, drink etc... while walking beside it and then switch to 'follow'.

Hi all,
Hope this finds everyone well.
I’ve been looking at the Axglo E5 golf trolley and came across this forum.
I appreciate there is some good input here, but would like to hear everyone’s views now that you have had the cart for some time. I’m particularly interested in the follow function, reliability ect. I have now tried 2 follow trollies and have been disappointed in both in regard to the follow function which I found to be a bit hit and miss and for the price of one £1800 with accessories would have expected more.
Would appreciate your findings on the Axglo.
Many thanks in advance

Hi,

Which 2 follow trollies did you try? (just curious tbh and why did you think the follow function was hit and miss?)

There are more experienced users on this forum - I've had my E5 for about 3 weeks and 5 rounds.

I'll summarise my thoughts from day 1:

Round 1: Some random stuff going on - trolley won't follow, remote cruise doesn't work, manual mode is a bit of a maul - have I made a mistake?

Reread this forum - thanks to all - J0nesy, Daddio, Golfnutz, Sopel etc.

Round 2: Oh, so that's what they (above) meant I see - actually the cruise control works really well it was just my incompetence. Follow mode much more consistent than R1 but did have one or two refusals....

Round 3: Really good - getting used to follow now = nearly flawless. Remote a little hit and miss but better (again me). Stability astounding.

Round 4: Flawless - I beginning to like remote cruise and the follow function is fantastic - I keep the remote on my right rear pocket and the E5 follows at a respectful distance

Round 5: Flawless - I really like the remote but use the follow mode about 85% of the time - this has been a great buy and I should have done it earlier....

So, a little bit of a learning curve but well worth it in my experience. perhaps the longer term users will chime in with their perspectives..

Said it before and will say it again. If something happened to my E5 and I needed a replacement, the only e-cart I would purchase at this time is another E5.
I have a hard time watching my playing partners navigate their non-follow e-carts while I'm leisurely walking down the fairway(s). Their focus is always on the cart, while my cart is just following me.

Hi,
Thanks for the info.
I tried the Stewart golf Q follow first. When it worked it worked well, however it was inconsistent with connection and to be honest at times was aggressive in its movement. At times when establishing a connection it would swing right and left really fast and was jerky on follow.
Also tried the Alphard V2 with the omni cart and CB sidekick. This was when it worked extremely pleasant to use. The follow me with an option of tracking left, right or behind was brilliant. Sadly it too had lots of connection issues, detracting from the golf as I had to keep returning to it to make a connection at times having to switch it off and on again.
As a result I’m very dubious regarding buying a follow trolley as I’m not sure the technology is right at this time. The remote on the Alphard was very smooth but the Stewart was quite jerky and lots of wheelies. May have just had a bad one.

Haven't had a wheelie yet, and I've gone up some pretty step hills with my cart, both in follow and remote controlled.

Axglo folks in the US...anyone have to pay taxes and custom fees? Our Axglo is supposed to be delivered this week and UPS emailed a bill for almost $400 for taxes and fees. We didn't realize this was a thing and didn't factor it into the budget!

I bought mine over a year ago from Bighorngolfer.com and didn't have any issues with customs whatsoever. Maybe the vendor you bought from has different policies?

Bought it from Axglo directly. There wasn't any taxes or fees listed at checkout. Thanks for the info!

Just had something similar happen. Mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow and UPS said I still owed $259.00 in import fees. I reached out to Motogolf (who I purchased it through). They replied very quickly and said the manufacturer was supposed to have paid that but it slipped through the cracks somehow. They also said not to worry it has now been paid. I checked back on my UPS tracking number and sure enough the balance had been settled. All this took place within literally 5 minutes of my original email to Motogolf. Excellent customer service.

Today is Canada Day so we have to wait until tomorrow to talk to Axglo. I looked at the US Customs website and it appears that from Canada, up to $1600 is duty free, and after that amount is subject to a 3% fee. That would be less than $50.

I've had my E5 since March 2024, like most said it takes a few rounds to get use to it, I use the follow me 90% of the time unless navigating through tight areas I just tap the button and manually push it which I dont mind

Very compact for transporting, the bag a must unless you dont mind a dirty car, mine came with the umbrella holder and beverage holder as part of the price

Comapring the price and experience of others like Stewart (which my freind has) the E5 looks better and the follow me is much more reliable and cheaper!

I'm in the UK and wasn't sure if I would pay taxes from abroad but found they have a UK seller axglo-golf.co.uk

What is interesting is we bought our axglo from the Axglo US website in US dollars. We just called Axglo and they claim it is a UPS issue and would take no responsibility for it.

EDIT: called UPS and they said that Axglo's shipping filling states that the product is manufactured in China even though it is coming from Canada. Thus it is subject to steep tarrifs. UPS bases their service fee on the tarrif amount so that is why it adds up to $400. Just checked the Axglo website and I couldn't find a manufactured or assembled country.

Axglo may have good customer service for repairs and returns bit have been zero help for this issue. I complained to them that it was not reasonable to assume we would be paying steep China fees, since the product is coming from Canada and is designed and assembled in Canada, that the tarrifs would be either zero or a smaller amount. Unfortunately the sales on E-Carts are final so we can't even cancel and order from Big Horn. The cart may be great but I would recommend buying from Big Horn as @pkellz25 did

Disappointing. Sorry to hear that they aren’t being beter about this. It doesn’t make for a great purchase experience. Motogolf or Big Horn are probably the way to go for an Axglo apparently. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you’ll save some others from going through this.

So...some good news to report! After spending some time with UPS they were able to refund some of their service charges known as warehouse fees. A lengthy phone call with Axglo finally resulted in hearing from a manager who was working remotely today and who agreed to cover the customs and duties. It took some finessing and convincing but they did come through for us.

I still recommend going through Moto or Big Horn to avoid the hassle and uncertainty. The package is delayed a few days because of the customs hangup.

What a stupid hassle:confused: but huge thanks for sharing all this @Cruskater. Definately might help others going forward. Hope you enjoy your Axglo as much as many of us have when you eventually receive it.

Guess what? The cart shipped on June 26 and we are still waiting on it. Not sure why a $1800 cart ships via UPS ground (to me this is partially an Axglo problem. Come on if its that expensive an item ship it with a higher service) but it was originally supposed to come Tuesday, then the custom thing was resolved, then today, and now Monday. A UPS customer service agent was great and on Wednesday said it would fly out of Buffalo for Boston and be delivered today. Instead it went via truck to Seacaucus, NJ. Going to Sand Valley Monday afternoon so if it doesn't come by Monday morning we'll have to have them hold it.

No taxes, no custom fees, free shipping - motogolf.com

The cart shipped on June 27 and finally came today! Excited to get it out on the course. The key is crunching the numbers to see what your customs, tax, and shipping will be on top of your order direct from Axglo and see if it is still less or more $ than buying from Bighorn or Motogolf.

Happy zipping around the course!

Got mine this weekend. Still haven’t had a chance to get it out on the course yet but initial review coming soon. I played today but it was raining so I took out the trusty old Clic Gear. Looks like it will still have a spot in the rotation on inclement weather days.

Heads up for motogolf buyers: my battery shipped separately and came a few days after the cart (I got the bigger battery). I didn’t see the second tracking number initially and thought they’d accidentally left it out.

First two rounds with the e5 are in the books! Played today and yesterday and I am absolutely loving this thing so far. Like many on here, I’m 95% follow me and only use the remote mode for tight spots or to send the cart around to the other side of the green. Thanks to this thread the learning curve has been very easy, and I was comfortable with the operation of the cart pretty quickly.

This thing works flawlessly. I’ve had absolutely no issues, and have not tipped it over at all. This is mildly disappointing as I’d promised my friends some entertainment. I’m sure it will happen sooner or later.

Pick mine up hopefully end of the week or early next week. Had confirmation it’s in now, batteries apparently shipped separate to unit, and once arrived they’ll ship out to me. Really looking forward to it.
Glad it’s all working well for you.
Have to say I’m slightly apprehensive in regard to the follow feature. Tried 2 other makes and have been disappointed with them

What was the major disappointments with them? Which brand were they?

So far that’s been my favorite part. The follow feature is really good. I‘ve been keeping the remote in my back pocket and it seems to have no issues with that (no need to hold it in your hand). It’s a little spottier in the front pocket due to line of site issues but other than that it’s pretty impressive. I’ve even been using it over bridges that aren’t too narrow.

I‘ll also add that switching between follow and remote operation (and back) is seamless, and much easier than I was expecting. You will get used to this thing very quickly.
