Appropriate Usage of the Word Golf?

The middle one is the only one that sounds right to me.

Played golf only.

All of the above & "I hit the sticks!"

All are acceptable. But on certain days, none would describe what I did on a course with clubs and a ball.

I just golfed...what does that mean?

I might be on the purist side with this, but I played golf and I'm playing golf sound better to me.

I'm fine with all three. So long as the point is made, it's all good.

Don't think I have ever used "I just golfed". Maybe I just played golf.

my 3yo nephew has a plastic golf set that g-pa bought him and last weekend, he kept exclaiming "golf!" each time he tried to hit a ball.

"Golf!" ... run, swing "Golf!" ... run, swing "Golf!" ... run, swing "Golf!"

I did not know the most appropriate usage of the word until that moment! 😂😂

He also said "I golfed it over there" when explaining where the ball went once. That was less appropriate I supposed. :D

I played golf..... that is the only one that is acceptable.....

Use them all.

I also golf the hell out of my ball.

the only time i will use golf as a verb is if i’m complimenting someone for “golfing” their ball. that guy can golf his ball. dude, you really golfed your ball today.

other than that, it’s a noun. i play golf. i love golf. what am i thinking about? golf.
