Are the Balls Amateurs buy Different than the ones the Pro's use?

Sorry if this has already been asked. But I wonder about these things.
 
I think it varies brand to brand, but Definitely in some cases

If you look at the conforming ball list, you'll see the balls that have special "tour only" versions - they're marked differently.

And some play older versions of a ball. Stacey Lewis switched after Titleist told her they wouldn't make the 2009 version anymore just a few years ago.
