I'm a bit of a fair weather golfer, at least when it comes to rain. I'll play in the summer when temps get up to around 100*, in the winter down to the low 40s, maybe as low as high 30s, I'll even play when it's pretty windy, but I draw the line with rain! If a light shower blows through while I'm on the course I'll stick it out, but other than that rain is a no go for me.

So, where do you draw the line when it comes to the weather?

I lived in the SF Bay Area for many years, so I'm used to year-round golf. Now that I am in Pennsylvania, I still fight golf as a 'season'. I've got a robust set of rain gear and cold-weather golf gloves, and layers, lots of layers.

I played yesterday and today in weather in the '40s to barely 50 with lots of cold wind. The weather app said the 'feels like' was in the 30s. When the weather gets worse, like lots of avid golfers around here, I'll book time on a simulator.

Each decade older I have gotten, the temperature must be 10° warmer for me to play 30’s when I was 20, 40’s when I hit 30, now 50° is as low as I will plan to play in. I got out here in Jersey today it was 50ish but cloudy and windy and I did not enjoy that much at all. I will play in light rain if it isn’t forecasted to last the entire round. I had to play enough in inclement weather in section events so now that I don’t have to, I’ll stay home.

Rain is fine as long as there's no lightning and it's above 50 degrees. Any colder than that, I'm not playing in the rain outside of a light mist.

I'll play in the low 40s/even upper 30s as long as it's supposed to get warmer and it's not windy.

Not so much a fair weather golfer, I’ll take the heat, cooler temps but no wind. I always wind up with a head cold from the wind when it’s cool out. 2 serious bouts of Covid bout done me in. Rain is a no go for me though. I’ll wait out a shower but if it’s calling for a storm of sorts, I’m out. Got caught walking one evening and had the guy in the pro shop meet me half way. Was on back side of the 9 hole course. Never again, and I keep up with the weather app. That one day, it came way quicker than expected though

I'm getting close to fair weather golfer, has to be 50 degrees and not hot and humid.

Rain, I’m usually out. Cold, below 50 I’m usually out. Heat, I’m ok with.

Golfed today in the mid 40s. it was actually an enjoyable walk.

I"m kind of in the same boat you are. If it's a light passing rain during the round I"ll stick it out. If it's in the forecast to be raining I'll just stay home and wait until tomorrow

Our senior club’s tournaments go on as long as the course is open, it is safe, and carts are running. I have played in some pretty nasty weather. Outside of tournaments, I won’t play in a steady rain that is forecast to continue the entire round. Everything else I’ll consider playing.

Not at all. I played pretty regularly in high winds. I drive out to the Palm Springs area in the summer and tee off at 11am when it’s 115°. And I’ll even play on cold days where there’s a little bit of rain. I just want to play golf.

Warm weather and raining is okay. If it’s in the low 60s and below I might find a way not to.

Yeah, I’ve become more fair weather as I’ve gotten older. I think it’s largely laziness with a bit less motivation to bother playing if the weather is poor. I don’t mind heat…. It’s cold and rain that gets me.

As far as heat goes, I'll play in anything. Heat doesn't bother me one bit.

Weirdly, as I'm getting older I actually don't mind playing in a little cooler weather. If it's in the mid 40's I'll bundle up and deal with it as long as it's not windy.

Rain is my issue. It's not so much the playing in the rain as it is wearing glasses and constantly trying to keep my glasses clear of water. I hate that issue.

Nope.

I mean im not gonna go start playing in a deluge of rain or freezing temps. But, theres a reason i own good rain gear (galway bay) and layers of 1/4zips, sweaters, winter hats, jackets, vests, cold weather golf gloves, rain gloves..........

I dont like playing in the rain and I will avoid it if possible. A small, quick shower is fine. But if it's rain the whole round, I'll pass unless I'd be letting someone down.

I usually won't go if it's raining Unless I'm with @snafu or at the Morgan Cup!

I've played in temps over 120° and down into the low 30°s. Wind and rain don't bother me in the summer, but combine either one of them with cold and I'm out.

Yes. I live in Florida.

I'm limited on my time to golf so I usually tough it out for most anything. Snow might be a deal breaker.

If it’s above 40° and no lightning, I’d play. Throw some rain gear on and let’s go have some fun

I never play in the rain. If it's a slight drizzle then maybe. I just don't enjoy it. In fact, I do like watching tournaments when they have rain.

Not just golf, I don’t like cold weather. Been going to Florida twenty years. One of my biggest problems is that I don’t dress heavy enough so therefore get cold. Have taken the position for years that if I have to put on long pants I haven’t gone far enough south. Got pretty cool yesterday 59-60* and breezy, wore an extra vest just in case and never took it off. Since we’re late going south this year I’m probably going to get cold a lot more than I want to. Have played when I took relief for casual water with snow on a green in the shade. We usually play on Thursday due to playing partners work schedule but I told him yesterday that we might have to start looking at the weather a little closer.

Nope! Love golfing in the rain actually

About 50° is my limit.

If it's actively raining before the round, I'm out.

If it starts to rain while playing, as long as it isn't pissing down, I'll keep playing. But I hate being rained on.
