Are Your Irons Fitted For You

Yes I was fitted to my irons by my instructor.

Yes, R9 irons, 4-PW, KBS Tour stiff shafts (stock is KBS 90), +1/4 over, 0.5 degrees flat.

was fitted for the nike machspeeds - dynamic gold s300 shaft - high launch. We didnt adjust lie angle, length or anything though - kinda surprised me. I wonder if i need to have that looked at.

I just had my first fitting this past Friday, which took an hour and a half. I learned that my current irons are way off spec. He said I'll be hitting the ball much more solidly when I get my new irons.

My current set isn't but my Next set will be.

Mine currently are not. I really want to get fit though. I just need to find someone with a good rep to do it.

Yes. Fitted by HotStix at PGA National last August.

Mine are not, as they were my beginning set. The next ones will be without a doubt.

Yes; I was fitted for my irons.

Yep, I went to a independant club maker who made my clubs for me. 1" long, reg lie/lof with 3 tapes on the grips.

I would say yes and no. I was fit for them but Pings system is a little wacky. I would say that 7-GW are fit perfectly but 4-6 I think are a little too flat due to them going up in .75* increments instead of the standard .5*. If it ever gets cold in NC I will send them back and get the long irons bent a little more upright. Definitely feel like the toe is sticking into the ground with those clubs. Everything else about them are perfect though. Length is spot on and the shafts are incredible.

Yes everything is fitted with the exception of my 3w and 5w. Even though I play Mizuno irons which maybe by virtue of their country of origin are a little shorter in the shaft than others, I still needed to have the shaft length dropped slightly and the lie is -2 flat. Shaft type is not the standard Mizuno shaft either.

My Supertri driver was a disaster until I had that fitted. Not sure what to think about the 3 and 5w. I asked if anybody was doing it because it appeared that all of us that have gone to Miyazaki shafts for drivers have been very happy. Thought maybe somebody might be tryin' it out on the fairways.

Nice to see somebody else on the site playing MP-58 irons. Like em' h2ojon?

I just went to a split set and now play the MP-68 scoring irons with my MP-58 long and mid irons. I did also get the MP-68 5 and 6i as I really got a good deal on them fitted and all and do think I will get the opportunity to play them. No real complaints with the MP-58 irons. Just love the fell of the 68 irons and at my game got strong enough to play some of them. I don't think I would ever be able to play 68s' though the whole bag.

I seem to be pretty close to the standard setup. But I haven't really had them checked by a pro.

I went through an online fitting, so, yes but more no. My next set, which will hopefully be within a few months, will be fitted at a club fitter that got recommended to me.

Yes, I got mine fitted at The Golf Tour Trailer Fitting Studio at Westfields Golf Club over the summer. Before the fitting session, they took the spec of my clubs and found that my clubs were -4 degrees FLAT. So, after about 1 hour of testing, they fitted me w/ standard length and -1 degree lie. Now, I am able to hit the ball a lot more solidly.

However, I have changed my swing quite a bit since then by taking lessons and practicing, and I just ordered a new set of Mizuno JPX Pro from Golf Galaxy and got fitted w/ standard length but +2 degree lie angle. So, we'll see how it goes, if I am not hitting it well, I might go back to the Golf Tour Trailer Fitting Studio to get fitted again.

Oh, and I got to used the Mizuno shaft optimizer and here are my readings from the 3 swings:

swing 1: 84mph, tempo = 5, toe down = 5, kick angle = 3, release factor = 7
swing 2: 84mph, tempo = 5, toe down = 5, kick angle = 3, release factor = 7
swing 3: 83mph, tempo = 5, toe down = 6, kick angle = 4, release factor = 6

out of all three swings, I would say my last swing felt the best.

No

*hangs head in shame*

My Ci7's were an internet purchase before I even knew you could get fit. I had the flex and length "fit" for me at Dick's on my Adams. If I ever get a set of CG16's, they will be fit for sure.

Nope...not readily available at the time of purchase 2 years ago.
My next set will be for sure !

My irons are fitted...1/4 inch longer than standard and 2 degrees up.

No way was I going to spend that much money on a new set of Diablo Edge's just to find out months later that they "didn't fit right" for me.

Haven't been fitted for my 3 wood, driver or putter but those are next on the list when I buy something new. What I have now are all hand me downs in one way or another.

Yes.
Length and Lie are standard. I use Midsize (Golf Pride -New Decade) grips, and Project X 5.0 shafts in my Burner 09 irons.

No but I wish they were - any thing else I can get out of my head before I swing is appreciated!
I was also reading my latest golf mag about putting - this guy saw the author putt and told him the putter was the wrong type for his putting - intriguing.. I would love to be fit for a putter that would seem to make a lot of sense as well

you and me both! i actually sent in an email to seemore today, looking for help with a starting point. who knows, there could be a seemore at the end of the inquiry.

I got mine fitted at Golfsmith.

I agree. I inquired about putter fitting, but I wanted to get my stroke sorted out before I got fitted around it. I'll probably do it next season.
