Astral Putters Review

Thanks that's great feedback, and something that I know has come up in discussion here. Curious to hear how testers get along with them, and experience that balance first hand.
When I think about “balance” with putters I feel like what we’re really talking about is does the putter rotate the correct amount for the golfers putting stroke. If it doesn’t you can feel that. For a very long time I thought I hated mallet putters. It turns out what I actually hate is the feel of face balanced putters because I could feel the putter fighting me. Being able to dial in the rotation to match stroke to the CG is a huge win for golfers.

If we need a mallet tester I would volunteer as tribute! :p

How many color options are there for the heads and inserts?

What is the limit of customization art on the sole, etc? Or is there?

I may need to just get one for my birthday in September...

That Hawk guy does good work.

I've read them before. I thought I saw some pics from the fitting that weren't in the articles, different finishes, etc.

They do some special finishes and releases, yeah. Kinda cool.

Yeah, those are what I mean. Like, could I get a teal insert or body?

I'll probably wait to see the new mallets, especially if there is a 7 style coming. But the Mid does look really versatile.

I don't believe they are doing custom finishes at this time.

Also, they've got a mallet shape that is their own and hits a wide range of looks, I like that they're not simply copy/pasting a traditional winged mallet.

The current mallet is a little too sharp for my eye. Looks like something Batman would whip off of a tool belt to throw at a bad guy. :)

I respect them being unique, same goes with the blades. It is a totally unique system, so the visuals of each shape really lean into that and I dig it a lot.

And to @gkeller813 point about weight, our blade is the exact same weight as the mid-mallet (349g without hosel, 379 with 2.5 hosel) and about 7 grams less than mallet (356g without hosel, 386 with 2.5 hosel). We are big fans of heavier putters (up to a point), but very specific about how that weight is distributed throughout putter, which is why we don't offer interchangeable weights.

Interested in the tester's thoughts on balance, as that is something that I think comes through as unique for most golfers, especially with the blade.
I am so ready to receive my Astral. Supposed to arrive Saturday. I am also not a tinkerer in terms of weight @BC.Astral Once we get a couple of settings dialed in, I will be sure to include balance, weight and feel in my comments.

Really excited for you all to have them in hand and to get rolling (pun intended).

Will be super fun to follow and ask you all about 1,000 questions on hahaha

Check out the Astral website.
He has, he's also making conversation on it about potential custom offerings in the future. Its good discussion.

The possibilities are very intriguing. That mallet shape in the tempered steel finish, with a Damascus insert and the grip and sight line of the Nova would just one incredible option. The possibilities feel nearly as plentiful as the adjustability of the hosels.

Wasn't sure, and I knew there was mentioned of stock offerings.l in thr articles. I did see a video of them doing a custom putter for a military vet that was full custom, just not sure who all they offer that to.

I’m leaning mid-mallet. Consultation will be early next week.

I’ve never used a mallet but not out of the question. We will see what comes out of the consultation.

@BC.Astral I’ll send an email shortly to work out the date/time.

Between cerakote colors, paint fill colors and laser engraving there is a lot of potential for Astral to offer custom.

They had these in the window of the assembly room

This reminds me a little of my fav putter's. Think I would lean here first to try.
They are just west of downtown off of 38. We can make that happen.

Getting fit and walking out with the putter in hand the same day is a super cool feeling.

Will live vicariously through you and the other fellas this year. Who knows maybe I'll start putting left handed and try yours

Would be great to visit their facility though. If you're "forced" to go back for a mallet fitting, I'll tag along.;)

So if I read this correctly, 2 blades and the balance are mid-mallets?

@leftybob embrace your duty as a THPer to test the mallet. Not that you have a choice in the matter, you were voluntold by @BC.Astral ;)

I’ve played rounds with a right handed putter as a way to handicap a round. It’s doable. Pro tip putting from the other side use your regular grip and you will be putting cross handed from the other side.
