Because you need coverage when the inevitable mechanical failure or accidents happen. All or nothing in a sport where constructors points mean so much monetarily its too risky
That's just the thing it isn't all or nothing. Supposedly Checo was faster, that doesn't mean Max wasn't as fast or right behind him. I envision what McLaren did this year could have been them but on a different level.

Which is fair from the team. Unless you can consistently build a car that is at almost every level identical, and you have two drivers who can both extract the maximum out of the car, then you have to favor the driver that brings points, wins and podiums.

Don't get me wrong, the '#2' drivers on the grid 'could' be as good, but when you have generational talent (see Schumacher, Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton) that can make a car do things the designers couldn't design and get results (ie points & podiums), those drivers will wipe the floor with their teammate consistently
And when the team is winning that is fine, but when the team doesn't win either driver/constructors and they have not had a consistent 2nd driver since Danny Ric left, that really calls into question the validity of that ideology.

Seems like any other team on the grid has a car that both drivers can perform with except RB.

Faster doesn't equal points tho. You can be faster in the race but can't put a quali lap together in 3 sessions so your 'fast' in the middle of the pack.

Agree but all thing a being equal he was in a RB car not a HAAS or Alpine

True, and look at his qualifying positions vs Max. Same car, should be similar results but they weren't. And remember, almost every other driver to drive that other car could not get the same performance, consistently, that Max did.

The test would be Sainz and Checo in the RB, take Max out and let's see what happens.

True, but we are stil back to the car being set up for Max and not the #2. If Checo had the car he claims he was fast with but wasn’t brought to the race for qualifying that might change performance results

If that's true, RB severely hindered their chances of 1-2 finishes, that's all I will say.

I know the ego of Max is so great no one will go against him but IF RB were happy with 1 car at the front then have a 'do your best' with the other, seems rather against their interests as a constructor.

Do you think the new F1 regs will be good?

This is cool. Has all the names that helped get the car ready for the grid

I like this a lot

h the RB/Ford powertrain cars look amazing honestly. Really glad to see some gloss come back to the Blue RB! And as minor as it seem the white outline makes such a difference.

Will say the cars actually have some key aero differences which is surprising for RB to not just show a "stock" car unless I'm just seeing to many different PHOTOCHOPPED pictures now
