I'm kind of open to any ideas. I obviously know Myrtle is a great spot, but looking for something a little unique that won't be SWELTERING hot in August. Bachelor trip with 3 of my closest friends.

Anyone ever done a bourbon trail/golf trip?

@KY Golfer - You know of any solid golf resorts in KY near the bourbon trail by chance?

I’ve done several trips along these lines. One option you could look at is the Marriott property in Lexington. Decent hotel attached to a golf course and gives you a pretty good base of operations to hit various distilleries.

Not sure about resorts but that Marriott is nice.

Book your bourbon tours as soon as you can because they fill up fast but I would worry too much because Lexington has bourbon everywhere

Spent a lot of time in that Marriott and agree it would be a good home base. They have bourbon dispensers in the lobby. Just go to the bar, get credits, and you can get a bourbon every time you pass by 😂

Cool idea, but Kentucky can be pretty sweltering in August. Check out some of the photos from when they played the PGA champions in August in KY at Valhalla. Most of those pros looked like they had been swimming.

It doesn't happen in KY every August, but more are pretty darn hot and humid than less.

Griffin Gate Marriott would be a good choice. It has a Rees Jones golf course on property that used to host a Senior Tour event many, many years ago. Several of the top courses in the area are private, but you may be able to get on with a call from your pro (If you play private at home).

I know it’s not KY but northern Michigan would be great weather wise in August, and lots of great courses up there.

My only issue with bourbon trail is how repetitive the tours get. Each distillery has some unique features but they all make the bourbon the same way. Do you want golf to be the main focus or bourbon? If golf is the main focus then you have a ton of options. If you’re staying on bourbon focused, I’d stay in Louisville then drive about an hour north west to the French Lick courses plus other closer ones. If you want golf plus nightlife hard to beat Miami. Trump Doral is 45 min away plus multiple other courses within 20-30 min from Miami.

As most have said, that Marriott at Griffin Gate is a nice place and the course is decent. They usually have some sort of stay & play as well. Kearney Hills is also close to the Marriott if you wanna look into another course. Get those tours booked asap because they fill up fast.

Did this for my son's bachelor party last August. We used one of the Touring companies to coordinate the Distillery tours (https://mintjuleptours.com/). They did a great job and provided us with plenty of options. Also played a round of golf at Heritage Hills (per @KY Golfer recommendation). The entire trip was a lot of fun. Good Luck, have a great time.

I haven’t done it, but I hear McElmore in Georgia is perfect for bachelor parties. Apparently 2 courses there, one of which is supposed to be extremely picturesque. On-site resort.

If you’re on the east coast, I’d consider Ireland. Flight there is only 5-5.5 hours, which is the same as a flight to Vegas. I’ve done two golf bachelor parties there. Airbnb in Dublin. It’s awesome.

If you want something low key — particularly if you’re based in the northeast — there’s always Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun in CT (both have courses… Mohegan Sun course isn’t great though)

Last one from me: Evermore Resort in Orlando. It’s new and all of the housing options are sick (villas, apartments, houses). 2 very difference courses onsite — one of which is links style. Massive man-made lagoon in the center of the property that you can swim in, has water slides, bars and cabanas, etc. And, you’re within 15 mins from multiple other golf courses. Hell, maybe even buy Epcot passes one day to “drink around the world.”

After all this, I think they settled on Pawley's/Myrtle Beach, which I'm totally ok with. So many great courses for value to be had down there, it's just gonna be hot as hell, but I'm fine with heat.
