Backyard Hitting Setup

Just ordered a net yesterday, in search of a mat that won't break the bank. Prefer one I stand on vs small ones that go flying at impact. Any suggestions/sources?
This is the one I bought. Don’t think I paid that much but prices are higher due to demand. Just looked and it was $57 in October. Backyard Golf Mat 3'X5' Pro Residential with Foam Pad

Never an issue, the turf is very forgiving. Just leaves a bit of a film on my iron soles.

Rukkett net and mat I am not sure where I ordered from.

How did you attach the 2 different mats? Or are they just sitting next to each other?

There's a plywood backing I glued both mats and the cut up ball holders to. So far they ahve held up well. I had to reglue part of the larger mat but nothing crazy.

Found these hitting mats. They look pretty good. Depending on budget they have some really nice ones to. The link is to the economical mats but browse around. Prices are reasonable. They also offer nets. https://5stargolfmats.com/5-star-premium-residential-golf-mats/

That's what I ordered. My setup above is made out of 2 of their clearance pieces: Zoysia Fairway in a 11.75" wide strip and a 3'x'5' Perfection ReAction mat. See my pic above.

I had not seen them before. I think I may order their net with frame next time. I like it a lot better then mine. Of course it costs more.

Got my net set up in back yard to get some swings in. With no work getting in the way this week it was time to put some work in.

An upgraded net is in the plan for later this summer.

Nice placement showing off the new Cobra Clubs!
Really liking the Speedzone irons. No idea on distances, but gotta say they feel so good with the Catalyst shafts.

Have this until I get my outbuildings g built that I will put full sim in. Not perfect but this works not that the weather is decent

Yeah I can’t hit anything over a 9 iron unless it’s just chipping.
Started to get a couple 4 iron shots squeeze through. I already pitched a ball to my neighbor’s pool over the net too. Think it’s time to build myself a cage

(A couple of balls that got through already today :/). Have had it for maybe 2 years and between my kid and me abusing it, the net has held up ok.

Fortunately if anything get through mine it either hits the fence or goes up the hill behind my house.

I don't have a lot of room to work with, but I have made pretty good use of space available. The most time consuming and labor intensive was laying in artificial turf 16 x 45 feet. Next several iterations of nets, cages over past several years. Here are a few pics: I have also made several training aids which I feature on a You Tube channel

Welcome to the club. I have managed to do the same thing even though I am swinging from only 9 ft. Even with a cage, I have hit a driver on the crown and went over the cage. "A man's got to know his limitations"

Looks like you could have joined a nice country club with the dough you dumped in that set up.
Nice job

Thanks, It wasn't all that expensive, just labor intensive. I probably spent maybe $2000 for turf and rock. The net and frame (several over time) less than $300 and many pieces of PVC and portions of cage net, were used over. The last rendition has withstood about two years and has endured lots of storms, wind.

Mine is the Maxfli net and 3x5 mat from Dick’s. I added a rubber mat underneath for a bit more cushion. The net doesn’t return balls so I needed something to hold them and let me easily feed them onto the mat. I used a plastic paint roller tray that I cut down on the front legs, notched, and drilled a few holes for drainage. $3 vs $34 for a store bought one.
