Hello all,

I received a very nice pair of Nectar Sunglasses in my Bagboy Mystery box, but unfortunately for me and a benefit for you all out there in THP land, I need prescription sunglasses, so these are up for grabs. And since Karma saw fit to bless me yesterday, I can't think of a better way to pay that spirit forward than to get these out into the world to another THP member.

So here it is: if you want the glasses, all you need to do is meet the following criteria:

1) Be a 2025 AC Member
2) Comment in this thread on the following topic:

I now have approximately 6 months to prepare for my first THP Golf Experience. As a high handicapper who has been focusing on getting better the last couple of years, I really want to do my best to hold my own and be a good teammate, taking into account that most of my prep is going to have to be during a New England Winter. If you were in my shoes, which would you pick and why:

1) Golftech Lesson Package (need to find a coupon code if anyone has one)
2) Indoor Sim Monthly Membership
3) Just my the Basement Putting mat and Chipping work and weekly sim league is enough
4) Concentrate on Golf Fitness and Flexibility

Looking forward to seeing what folks think, and if you want to see what folks think of your possible new shades, check out the Bag Boy Unboxing thread for some thoughts on them:

I will randomly pick from the eligible posters made before 11:59 PM EST Sunday, October 12th, and message the winner on Monday for details to get them their glasses

Cool contest. Nice of you to do this.

Yes I’m an AC2025 member.
I’d probably choose the lesson package AND the simulator membership. Ask the teacher to focus on building consistency, pitching and chipping. Sim to practice what the teacher has you working on.

Awesome gesture my man... not a sunglass guy so I won't do an official entry. I would suggest the GolfTec lessons though. Just seeing the progress made by those in that thread is proof enough. Pretty sure those come w/ indoor practice time too.

Great gesture and not going to enter as I have enough sunglasses as it is, but if it were me I would concentrate on 2 and 4, with especially not giving up 4 once you go to the experience.

GolfTec lesson package. The others are great and I would strive to do those as well, but lessons will transform your game and have you understanding your golf swing at a deeper level. I still make plenty of mistakes on the course. It's golf. And it's hard. But now I usually know why and can have an opportunity to fix it. Where as before, I was guessing what I did wrong.

Congrats on the win!

Not an entry because I already have an awesome pair of golf sunglasses but GolfTec lessons are the way to go. It has completely changed my game for the better.

If it were me & I was trying to get ready for an Experience, I would gravitate to the lesson package from GolfTec & the physical fitness. Both for obvious reasons

One of the reasons I am excited to be part of this one is number 4 and keeping up with it just started to really walk more rounds recently as part of a fitness reset and what better way to keep up that routine then to nerd out with the makers of the best golf push carts

Agreed. I've been big into fitness the last few years and it literally changed my life! Excited to see where you go with it.

I'm not entering since I have some already, but as someone in your shoes (minus the upcoming Experience) I would focus on #1 and #4. The fitness doesn't even have to be golf specific since some of those programs can cost quite a bit.

Yeah for me it would be general fitness. I am down to 295 from a high of 350 but want to focus on getting some muscle back and improving flexibility this winter so I can hit spring hard. Would be nice to role into spring in the 270 range as I get to my goal of getting back to my XL only days in the 240 range

Great getsture and good luck to everyone entering, I have my own set from the mystery box so I am all set.

That's awesome! Don't want to derail this thread since there are workout and nutrition threads already, but PM me if you'd like to talk about this some more. I was able to drop almost 60lbs using nothing but free workout programs before.

I would go with a 5 lesson package and then use the rest of the time to really hone in on what you have learned.

Thanks for doing this. I use Prescription so I will bow out

Not an entry but I would say GOLFTEC

Nice gesture! I also have prescription sunglasses so am OUT!

Congrats Pat on going to your first event in 6 months!!

Honestly not a fan of Golftec. They have an ideal swing, and depending on your instructor, he may want to try to change you're whole swing. Which IMO never truly works. + I find GolfTec to be a bit overpriced in our northeast area.

I do recommend you go to a local pro and do a lesson every 4-6 weeks just to make sure you are not introducing anything bad into your swing, and do a monthly indoor SIM - to get constant feedback. Near me, I have a PGA toursuperstore - which has sim that you can rent by the 1/2 hour, or get a free 1/2 hour per day if you become a member. Membership is like $200+ dollars - good value there. I find its better to swing for 1/2 hr per day then to go 2X a week and swing for 2hrs.

1 thing I started doing in practice is putting a towel 2 club lengths behind the ball on any driving range mat. You be surprised how often us high handicappers hit behind the ball and the mat cheats/helps our ball. Its painful how many times I hit the towel, but hopefully will improve my swing in the long run.

Good luck.

I’m a big believer in putting on a line indoors… working on those 8 footers and getting the ball to roll end-over-end with a line on the ball gives great feedback. It’s simple but super effective.

That said, I’d have to agree that golf fitness is probably the biggest priority for most, though it depends on his situation. If I were in your shoes, I’d be rolling 8 footers, getting a TPI screen done, building out some tailored workouts, and doing a bit of speed training. That combo gives you the biggest bang for your buck heading into spring.

So my answer tends towards 4. Haha I think this gives you the biggest bang for your buck and time management.

If I had a GolfTec near me, I would be taking lessons. Since I don’t, I usually try to figure it out all on my own. While that has worked in the past, there can be some real frustration with not having someone you trust tell you what’s wrong. GolfTec would be my choice.

I also understand that everyone’s disposable income is different so I would also highly focus on fitness and flexibility. Not necessarily golf specific fitness, but fitness overall. Every winter I get big in to the gym since there isn’t anything else for me to do and it does wonders for my mental and physical health.

So if you have the means, GolfTec AND fitness and flexibility. Otherwise F&F for sure

I am lucky in that I had already kind of decided my big xmas present was probably going to be lessons to some degree I don't currently need anything new club wise having started walking more I was thinking about investing in a better push cart but I will be waiting on that till I get some face time with the best in the business for sure

You won’t get better than a Nitron for a push cart, but I understand waiting! Never know what you’re going to be getting these things!!

You should check out the golftec lesson thread. That certainly is not the case with many people currently taking lessons there, myself included.

Not entering as I have a box incoming but for GOLFTEC you can use this referral link

It'll give you (and anyone who wants to use it) $100 off
