Bag Boy Volt Electric Cart

Kudos to Rodney and Christian at Bag Boy/Dynamic Brands.Loaned my Volt to a friend who wanted to try it out. He got a E01 error on the console. Verified error and contacted Rodney, he knew what it was, referred me to Christian in customer service for the replacement controller (replaced under warranty). Just got it and installed it. Works fine. Total elapsed time : 8 days ( I live in Hawaii ). Remarkable ...

Even my Volt hates winter.
It just has to sit there, doing nothing, like me.

Upside is that we should be able to start walking on course around here in only a month or so if the weather cooperates.

I read all the info on these pages before purchasing m first electric trolley a Bag Boy Volt. I had a long list of criteria that I wanted before I was going to make the move to a electric trolley. I love all the extra storage and the design of push trolleys and found most electric electric trolleys heavy and badly designed. I also didn’t like that you couldn’t just push it when you wanted to without damaging the motor.

When I saw the Volt it ticked nearly every box so I asked for one for my (big) birthday in September. I loved it.

I havent use it much because of British weather but three weeks ago it suddenly stopped working on the course the screen went black but there was still plenty of charge in the battery. I assume the motor was engaged because it was really difficult to push. I alternated between struggling to push and trying to lift the back wheels of a fully laden bag and cart and to try and get the trolley back to the clubhouse.

I filled in the form for a warranty repair, but was then told I had to contact the UK distributor who they told me I need to get a refund or replacement from the retailer. Who then told me they had to investigate it first, so I needed to send it back to them.

Has anyone else had an issue like this? I’ve been without a trolley for over three weeks now and I have heard nothing since the retailer. Im concerned that the motor being engaged and having to push it will have worn the motor, so I dont just want whatever caused the problem fixed because the motor will have been damaged too. 12 months doesn't feel like a very long warranty if you can get catastrophic faults like this, so id prefer a new trolley with a new 12 month warranty.

Yes I purchased a Volt at the beginning of the 2024 golf season. As you mentioned I also loved everything about it, especially being able to put the cart in "freewheel" by simply pushing the control knob. Unfortunately I had TWO breakdowns exactly like you had. The first time I repackaged everything and shipped it back to BagBoy. They replaced some parts and it worked fine for about 3 months and then the same thing happened again. I returned after that one!!

That's interesting because the retailer said "They have advised they would need this back to take a look at as they have not faced this fault before"

It's such a shame to have such a fantastic product that people want to buy, but by only having a 1 year warranty many people will be put off. The worst case scenario is spending £1500 for 13 months use and then it braking. Im not sure how much out of warranty repairs would be? Does anyone know?

If they offered a 5 year warranty which you could purchase, it would make most people much more confirmable investing in a new trolley at that price.
The price they charged for a 5 year warranty would be a good indication of how much confidence they have in the longevity of the product

The other option would be to have a maximum repair fee like companies like Dyson do, so you know the worst case repair costs if it does go wrong.

my Volt got its first workout for the year at Mountain Top. everything ran great once again, and the electric motor was a huge benefit climbing some of the hills. it was super windy on top of the exposed ridge, enough to dump one of the Rovic push carts, but the Volt was stable the whole round. such a great cart!

that's a killer photo with the course in the background.
How was it climbing hills? Were you mostly on grass of cart path while doing so?

Mostly grass. That's actually Payne's Valley in the background which we drove. We walked the Mountain Top short course which is 13 holes with plenty of up and down on the ridge top. I was glad to not be pushing and the stability was good. It was windy enough to blow over a buddy's push cart! There's a couple sections of narrow elevated metal walkway and maneuvering was easy.

Just such a smashingly great electric cart.

This is high on my ponder list, really want to check one out in person around here

It really is a great option for an e-cart. I've had mine for a year and I've had no issues with it.
