Ball position with putting

A ball forward of center. I've never heard a putting coach advocate anything more dramatic than a couple balls forward of center, and certainly never behind center.

No offset, putter sits dead center of body, ball is one ball forward. As offset increases, the ball position comes back to center. Putter shaft/grip is always at midline.
