@McLovin started a thread about the best OEM overall in 2019. That conversation led to many (including myself) saying they’d have to break it down by category. So....here it is.

Best of 2019 Edition: (This is less personal NO BRAND BIAS) preference and more opinion on which OEM won the category in 2019. Perceived or not

Pick your OEM winner for each one

I haven’t tried every OEM in each category so I’m basing on 3rd party knowledge in some cases.

Driver: Cobra - I think the F9 speedback was the best step forward for a company
Fairways: This one is hard. Maybe callaway? Maybe Taylormade?
Hybrids: Callaway - they have been crushing hybrids recently, and 2019 was no different
Utility Irons: I have a hard time remembering release dates and if certain ones can qualify as 2019...I’ll say Titleist because their Utility game was severely lacking previously, and their new ones are pretty solid. Unless I’m forgetting something, I don’t think callaway or Srixons recent releases were 2019?
Irons: I’m going Titleist here as well. Their new T# lineup is extremely solid top to bottom. The T200 especially surprised the hell out of me with how good they are.
Wedges: I feel like TM with their new milled grinds.
Putters: I’ll say odyssey, but specifically Toulon. Going full face milling looks incredible, and the stroke lab shafts work better for the Toulons than they do for the odyssey’s.
Shafts (irons / woods): PX continues to bring out fire products.
Ball company: Triple track. So, Callaway.
Clothing: no idea
Rangefinder: no idea. Probably bushnell again.
Golf Bags: sun mountain, to me, makes the best golf bags hands down that aren’t outrageously priced. Until someone else comes along that can legitimately beat them, I can’t say anyone else.

Hybrids - Didn't work for me during my fitting so I don't feel I can give an answer on what is the best
Clothing - I have a few different manufacturers in my wardrobe there, but I haven't really got one I could say was the best - if I like the fit and style I will potentially purchase
Rangefinder - I don't have one

I’m confused on how to answer. The original post says less this is less about personal preference and more about which oem won the category.

So Is winning based on Brand perception? Sales $’s ? Gross Margin ? Units sold ? Tour presence ? EBIDTA? Market share ? Forum perception ?

Lol. Shouldn’t be this difficult. Take out your brand bias and decide who won each category. There’s no wrong answer here so not sure I understand the confusion.

And not from a personal perspective...?

I have explored several of the newer irons and balls and a couple new wedges and putters but don't have any direct experience with drivers, hybrids, and utilities. I'm on a rapid shaft learning curve now that I have access but too early to make a call. With clothing and accessories, I'm a luddite. Here's my limited take:
