My family has massive cribbage tournaments during the holidays that last days. Seriously. Singles/teams, etc. It gets violent sometimes and more than 1 glass has been broken over a cribbage game.

That's fair. I've just seen it played more without a board... In my professional experiences we didn't allow large pieces of wood...

I wouldn't call cribbage a board game. It's a card game where the score is kept on a board.
