I love the crust at the end with fried eggs. I usually skip it and push it against the loaf to help keep the rest from drying out

Heal goes in the trash
Start with the next one

I'll eat the end, but only if there's nothing else left.

I skip the heel and go straight to the prime pieces in the middle.

Toss the heel and grab the next piece.

Skip it. Start with the 2nd slice. Save the end and keep skipping over it until reaching the other end. Then use them together out of desperation instead of going to the store to get more bread.

Skip it….never eat the heel, feed the animals with it.

Skip it.

The heels usually go to the birds

Skip and throw the ends to the birds.

The heel isn’t eaten. It goes back to cover up the next slice and keep it from getting stale. Bread should never be given to birds. It provides no nutritional value to them.

You go grab a new loaf of bread. Do you eat the heel first or do you skip past it to grab a regular slice.
Skip it and keep it in the bag to stay as the end cap to help keep the center of the regular slices from drying out.

This is how it is supposed to be done.

The heel is used as bait when fishing for some sunnies, the rest of the slices are for human consumption

I've always been considered a Heal.

Skip it. Unless it's a nice rye. Then I tear into it.

No idea, i can’t recall the last time we had ordinary sliced bread in the house.

But toasted on a sandwich or with butter. I’ll take the heel.
Who are you and what did you do with JW Smoove?

I'll eat the heel first, unless I'm using more than one piece of bread and the other one is the heel from the last loaf. I'm not eating two heels at once - in that case I'd skip over it and eat it next time.

Glad to see there are only one or two bread heal eating monsters in here gives me faith in the community as a whole

I concur, but it's not a heel, where did this term come from???

Throw the heels to the side, then butter up and enjoy the rest

And i feel the same way about bread.

Per google search.

Depends for me, pre-sliced I'll skip it and save it to use with the other heel. A full loaf, I'm eating the heal first every time.
