Bridgestone VS Prototype Golf Balls

This is interesting. Maybe the premium lineup is getting some of the E12 splash RPL-X cover treatment?
If so that is a plus. Hopefully some of the other testers can confirm my observations.

Looking at their current ball line up it looks like all of the alignment lines on their balls are really small. Wonder if they have a reason for this overall

I don't use alignment lines when putting. But If I did I think I would gravitate to something smaller. Less distraction.
I had an excellent day putting yesterday with the VS Black, and I am coming from using the Triple Track for the last 8 months or so. I think the small line was just fine.

I also much prefer it over the Tour BX (and related) alignment line, which had the blank center arrow before the full arrow. Its minor, but I feel like I can focus on this version better since it is all solid.

On the VS Black, the overall line looks longer, at least to me, because its all solid.

do you use the "point" of the arrow, or try to use the line of the name? I can see how the wider and more pronounced TBX arrow would be better in that application.

Could be that a lot that actually use alignment aid mark their balls anyways so why spend the extra ink to make them longer or larger? Just a thought.

While i am waiting for my VS greens, are there any tests i could do on trackman that anyone is interested to see?

I was thinking of starting with a couple

1) 7 iron launch and spin
2) 25 straight shots with a lob wedge (both for launch, but also to test durability of the ball)

I will likely compare the ball to a Chrome Tour X and Prov1x early on

If the pervious colors align with the new VS proto, maybe that is how the Blue vs. red should perform. Since X and RX are on the "distance" side and XS and RSX were on the "Spin" side.
That would definitely make sense. I did play the previous version of the Tour B XS for a little while. I’ve always been a low spin guy, and that ball spun a ton on me. There was no one hop and stop with the wedges. It would rip back five or six feet. This ball seems much more controlled.

I use the black line closest to my putter, if that makes sense. That’s where my eyes are focused.

it does. I prefer to envision the line of the stroke...since I'm such a SBST putter.

Played a little hooky at lunch and hit the SIM. Incoming shortly but I think I found my ball.

I will say hitting, putting in this case, the ball outside really changes the acoustics for me. The feel is the same, for me sits right between Chrome Soft and Chrome Tour. The big difference is that inside I was hearing a slight “click” at impact and that was virtually non existent outside. Weird but something that stuck with me after practicing outside.

Driver, 7 iron, 75y lob wedge.

So I grabbed my bag, ran out of the house, and hit the SIM earlier today. Problem was I only had the VS Red balls on me. Will bring others the next time for comparison purposes. Did get some good data though.

As mentioned before the VSR feels softer then other balls I recently game including: CSX and ProV1X. But I like the feel as it is not too soft. Sound to me, at least indoors, is a bit more muted than the other balls that have a bit more of a clicky sound to me.

For the screenshots below the clubs used were:

Irons: Mizuno 245 with Recoil Dart HDC shafts
Hybrid: Titleist GT2 Tensei Blue
Driver: Titleist GT2, UST LINQ Powercore

I'm not the longest hitter, but am fairly straight and consistent-and the data below backs that up.

Now to jump into it.

The ball speed with the PW and 8 iron is about as high as it's been in years. And still rebounding from the rotator cuff I love this distance. Spin is still a bit on the low side but higher from what I recall with other balls. Good launch angle. No matter what I'm a low spin iron guy. But with the VSR I do get a bit more spin but more ball speed. The angle of descent is good-so that helps as well as the peak hight being consistent. So this iron, ball combination hits my windows and is an absolute winner.

Hybrid-again low spin but good metrics otherwise and I'll take a 1.49 smash factor with a hybrid any day. Again a home run here.

Driver-this is where it gets tricky. For a low spin iron player I tend to have more spin with the driver. I also seem to hit the driver shorter, proportionally when compared to the irons. On a good day my ball speed is around low 140's. Is it the ball or club/shaft combination-I'm not sure. Either way the shot is playable.

I'll get some more SIM time in and work with other clubs. I'm playing on Sunday but given the cold windy conditions that is forecasted I'll have to discount any distance numbers yet will be a good exercise on how the ball performs in the wind a well as on the greens. Last time out the ball was great in the wind.

I agree. The solid lines are better than the arrows.

I’m loving the distance but this numbers from the VS Red with an 8iron.

Are we looking at the distance on the left or that you apparently are hitting the ball too hard lol
On left. That message is from his eagerness to record that swing.

Not that I hit the ball to hard movement causes that message to pop up. Just hit 10
Shots with the VS Red and all carry numbers were over 150yds. I don’t ever see that…my carry with 8i has been around 140-145yds. I’d like to see spin and descent angle higher as I had some rollout of 11yds on that particular shot. Going through the data and will get that posted shortly.

Just a few days in and this Bridgestone VS Red could see me putting this ball into rotation in the future.
