NEWS Brooks Koepka Back on PGA Tour?

2017 at the BMW Championship, completing 18 holes in 89 minutes, shot -2. That's still the PGA record.
Yeah that was fun. But that only happened because he was in last place after making the cut. Lol

It is funny to me how the PGA is moving the goal posts to get Koepka to play immediately. However, with their new PGA "Returning Member Program," it looks like they are also opening the door for Cam Smith, Jon Rahm, and Bryson DeChambeau to return to the PGA if they want to. The Golf Channel laid out a lot of the new guidelines.

And he did win the 2017 RBC Heritage

Currently, George is the better of the 2................just doesn't have the mind for it

I think this was a fair policy put fourth by the PGA for Brooks to comeback. I mean Liv paid around $100 million. Him giving $5 million to charity is a drop in the bucket. Him not being part of the rev share costing him anywhere between $50-$85 Million he made at LIV. I bet Rahm and Byrson stay on LIVbut all bets are off after this sesaon

Slight correction to the bolded. The newly proposed equity share is not costing him anything he made at LIV. The PGAT is saying he cannot share in whatever PGAT revenue gets generated for the window they determined. The problem is there are no concrete numbers to even figure out what that would look like and the $50-$80 million is an estimate only.

I believe he is not eligible for PIP either.

I mentioned earlier but i don't think this is the PGA Tour caving. This is more Brooks caving. I am guessing he really hated it at LIV.

I'm glad he's back but what did he lose not much . His dream was to play on the Tour why did he leave ? This all about the dollars and what he didn't lose to come back.

The LIV tour battler is starting to feel like a Rocky movie.

I think the biggest issue with LIV is the travel for guys like Brooks with young families. I think the elite players and the PGA tour want a reconciliation. It will be very interesting to see what happens with Byrson. He makes a ton of money on with his Youtube stuff.

Bryson can still do all of his Youtube stuff on the PGA Tour, he just cannot use PGA footage or PGA marketing materials. He almost certainly would not be allowed to film any content at PGA events.

But his breaking 50 stuff? He could still do that all day if he wanted

His dream was to play on the Tour why did he leave ?

He thought his injury had ended his career, LIV threw $100 million at him, and he left.
Now he's playing healthy again, hated LIV, and now is back on PGA where he can pick and choose where and when he plays.

I wonder if this is also about the Majors, and getting ahead of things. He only has a few years of exemptions left for some of them and if LIV doesn't get ranking points, unless he won another one he'd be out of the Majors by 38-39yrs old, which i think would crush him.

Thinking about it more, this is likely the reason he was willing to take such a bad deal. Otherwise any fun he has playing golf could be done sooner than you think

Can Bryson even leave now or is he locked up for the year? He sounds at best lukewarm about staying. Rahm I assume is truly locked up.

Honestly I don’t think Phil would’ve taken it anyway.
The only reason Phil would have taken it would be to play the Champions Tour

Koepka's earnings on LIV

7. Brooks Koepka
Events: 48
Earnings: $44,710,115*

*Koepka was awarded $4,000,000 for finishing third in the 2022 LIV Golf points list

Lets hope this opens the floodgates and a lot of them come back. LIV is a non starter with meaningless tournaments. Thats what these guys miss. As Chamblee said folks watch sports when the games/tournaments have some type of importance. LIV doesnt have that

Koepka had 1 more year left on his contract with LIV, and they let him out of it.
Bryson has 1 more year left.
Rahm has 3 more years left.
Smith has 2 more years.

I think PIP is a moot point, Brooks isn't exactly a PIP kind of guy. Engaging like that would mean he would have to look like he cares about something, and that doesn't jibe with his aloof, "too cool for school" schtick. Probably the only person who looks less like they care about anything would be DJ.

i wonder how big of an impact letting Phil back would have on the Champions tour for any event with Phil and Tiger. Seems like it would get better ratings and more money. I would absolutely watch.

Bryson has 1 more year left.
Rahm has 3 more years left.
Smith is 2 more years.
It may depend on the specific language of the contract and the ability of the parties to rescind or terminate the contract prior to the end of the term stated in the contract.

From what's been posted online, Rahm has no interest in returning to the PGA and Smith has said he has no interest as well.

That leaves Bryson.

Why would the PGA offer a return path to Bryson, Rahm and Smith if two of them have no interest in returning to the PGA. Clearly not everything discussed has been made public.

Bc they think they have some sort of leverage they don’t have. IMO Brooks is a one off example that fit a perfect timeline for the PGAT
