NEWS Brooks Koepka Back on PGA Tour?

That was one of my comments and to be clear, I absolutely do not care at all lol. He went and got the bag from LIV and now gets to come back to the Tour.

Makes the Tour look like idiots. There's gonna be guys wishing they had done what Brooks did (and whoever else follows in his footseps).
The caveat is that they have won a major or a players from 2022-2025 so that shrinks the pool of who the PGAT are targeting.

Brooks seemingly getting to have his cake and eat it too. Huge win for him.
I’m good with him coming back. I’ve liked watching him play and maybe he contends more maybe he doesn’t but I can watch again and I’m cool with it. Not that I couldn’t before I just never remembered to tune into liv

I'm not sure this is a win/loss situation here at all. But, in the grand scheme of things, the PGA tour didn't lose revenue or viewership in total since LIV began. The changed some policies to make it more player friendly. Now, they take an absolute shot across the bow of LIV and if Rahm or Brooks take the bait then LIV is done done

There is irony in that every LDSer out there said Brooks didnt matter.
Now all of the sudden he does.
This is what I don't get, but I do agree Brooks is playing better now than at the time of his move. But again he has never cared about the PGAT events (maybe the Players).

To be fair, the list of people that have won a major or the Players since 2022 is very short... not a lot of PGA tour guys could make that cut and have that as a gripe.

Cam Smith is washed up at this point, nothing good from him of late.

Bryson and Rahm would be huge..........................Bryson is negotiating a new contract, and Rahm is under contract thru 2028.

You dont think any kid globally dreams about playing for the largest purses in the world?
I don't.

They dream of winning majors and tournaments.

Yea, oddly I was not thinking on that aspect at all - and I can't 'pick a side' I do lean to him being older - but it's golf - so how much will that alter his game (at this stage). I was honestly just wondering when it was first posed - one member said, he comes back with no penalties or delays. I replied to that, suggesting it could kill the LIV league as they would all leave (or would have the chance to), I expected honestly a short penalty that would magically go away maybe 2-3 weeks before the Masters, and some cash penalty.

Maybe the PGA leadership is finally where they need to be - as it applies to LIV and how to counter all this.

PS: Srixon guy so I gotta like him now as I have become sooooo enamored with the V sole and several other things the alloy change etc. :)

Definitely. Feb 2 is just before LIV 2026 gets started. So to me it’s “move now or wait at least a year”.
And if the same criteria is used a year from now, who drops off the list of major winners or players winners?

absolutely love this. Love that the PGA is open an honest around the requirements to rejoin, it affects 4 current liv members and they have a deadline where a choice has to be made. as a fan I just want to see the best golfers golf period. Think they handled this situation great.

It's weird they included the Player's right? Like, that's only Cam and Cam also won The Open that year. Why bother including it? It's not like anyone that has left has been able to play the Players since they left.
Because they want to make it sound like it’s on the same level as the majors

I mean, it is already the 5th Major. I just thought it was weird to include it.

The funny thing is its worded as a threat but if they wanted to come back they would let them I guarantee it
They want this thing to be over quickly, they've waited a long time to finally have the leverage and now they do.

I genuinely want to know what they will do with Wesley Bryan who didn't even play on LIV just did some youtube thing

Exactly.................he falls outside this current offering, but he should be reinstated ASAP

In the long run, I think we will see this as some of the first steps to LIV eventually collapsing. I say this as someone who enjoys LIVs product but never saw its staying power.

He makes more cuts being suspended then he did while on tour.

Really??? I didn't really think that Brooks is really the needle mover. He doesn't even try in regular PGAT events. He wasn't playing well when he went.

Maybe it will but I'm not thinking Brooks is the reason.
I don't think Brooks being the needle mover is the reason for the thought though. It's that there IS an opening, however fleeting, that exists.

It could happen, they've got 20 days to make decisions.

Absolute crazy talk.
Thats what we as fans want them to be dreaming of.
Go to a high school match, AJGA event, NCAA event etc. and ask what they dream of. To a man they will say I want to win the Masters, US Open and be #1 in the world.

Again, GLOBALLY.

Look at Elvis Smylie. LIV matters in Australia and they got the biggest prospect they’ve had from there in years as a result.

The Tour wants to entice recent stars back, but not open the door to just anyone with a previous tour card, which IMO doesn't open any doors for anyone currently to leave outside of a few players which I don't think would anyway. If someone like Rory, Scottie, Xander, or JT would leave, it's a different story. But until that happens the Tour needed to do this.

And now they can do it all after Monahan kicked the curb and can basically blame it all on "past leadership".

However it happened, however it works out, the Tour needed to tuck tail and turn the other way anyway. We can all sit here and sh** on the tour for how they have handled everything because a few top players left, and then sh** on them again to do something about it...but in the end as people watching and not making money off the tour, this is better.
