NEWS Brooks Koepka Back on PGA Tour?

Bryson now has a ton of leverage. He seems to enjoy the team aspect of LIV, but I am pretty sure he doesn't want to be on a sinking ship as well if others leave. I would have to think LIV is going to have to offer him the biggest contact they have ever given out to keep him. His YouTube channel is a big deal to him. He loves to create content. Going to be very interesting to see what happens.

Anyone know what the penalty is if a player leaves LIV before fulfilling their contract? This is going to be an issue with Rahm I think.
Bryson right now:

Left the tour to spend more time with family returns to the tour to spend more time with family. Lolol..
Official statements are garbage. All they ever say is what the speaker wants us all to think. They don't reveal anything about what the speaker actually thinks.

They (LIV) can't make this kind of financial committment right now. That's why folks are leaving. These guys will all play for more money, they've already shown it. If they're leaving it means there isn't more money to be had.

That's a 10-4. Some seem to forget that.

in 2025 176 players just competed in Q-School ( Sept to mid-Dec)
in 2026 156 will compete in Q-school in March.
Im no math major, but that sure seems like a number greater than zero who want to play on the LIV Tour and are trying to do it.

Still feel like this is very tour puffing their chest out and being we are right you will do as we say and not really trying to do what is best. That said, i dont pay enough attention to all of this as i hate how it all has been playing out.

The whole "equity fine" is just posturing and grandstanding right now. It's hard to put a monetary value for penalties for a program that doesn't exist or have a floor to determine a dollar amount for.

The PGA Tour Player Equity Program (often abbreviated as PEP) is a groundbreaking initiative in professional sports, launched in 2024, that gives eligible PGA Tour players ownership stakes (equity) in PGA Tour Enterprises. This is the for-profit entity created by the PGA Tour to manage its commercial operations, including sponsorships, media rights, and other revenue-generating assets. The program was introduced amid the competitive landscape with LIV Golf (backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund), as a way to align players' long-term interests with the Tour's success, reward loyalty and performance, and provide financial incentives beyond weekly prize money and bonuses. As PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp has noted, it allows players to benefit directly from the Tour's growth and value increases — essentially, "as the PGA Tour does better, so do you. "Key Features and How It Works
  • Equity in PGA Tour Enterprises: Players receive grants of equity (ownership shares) rather than cash payouts upfront. This equity has potential value based on the Tour's overall valuation and future growth (e.g., from investments like the $1.5 billion initial commitment from Strategic Sports Group — a consortium led by Fenway Sports Group — with potential for more).
  • Vesting Schedule: Grants typically vest over time to encourage long-term commitment. For initial grants, this is often an 8-year period (e.g., 50% after 4 years, 75% after 6 years, and 100% after 8 years), after which players can potentially sell or realize the value. Recurring/annual grants may have even stricter vesting (e.g., a 6-year cliff in some cases). Players generally must maintain PGA Tour membership, participate in a minimum number of events, and avoid conflicting activities to keep eligibility and avoid forfeiting unvested equity.
  • Purpose: It shifts player mindset from short-term weekly results to long-term Tour health, fan engagement, and growth. It rewards both on-course success and off-course impact (e.g., star power that draws fans).

This is high level trolling. More impressive that someone even caught it.

Depends on the contract language, if any, as to what would happen if one of the parties were to desire to rescind the contract.

Of course they caved. Done that a ways back when the TOUR remodeled their schedule and adding the so called signature events and such. Phil was right all along about the TOUR basically holding them hostage till LIV actually got off the ground.

As expected, the rank and file are not happy

I wonder what his net gain/loss would be in the end. How much he made with LIV minus what he may forfeit, to see how far he came out ahead going the LIV route. Assuming he would come out ahead, and that's ok, he took a risk to get more money and was never guaranteed to ever be able to come back. Just would be curious to see how it all netted out.

He came out way ahead. He left at the same time he had an injury and was almost considering giving up the game. Any money he made at that time more than offsets any losses today.

He came out way ahead IMO considering the PGAT equity dollars are all conjecture at this point and magical numbers on a page. I am sure there is some value there, but right now there is none because this is the first year the program is being implemented.

The PGA Tour doesn’t care about the rank and file. Koepka is more important to the Tour than those guys hitting balls on the range in Hawaii.

The PGA Tour administration is a joke with his Jupiter’s boys club advisory council. They have absolutely no vision, they only act for a specific group of players. They don’t give a damn of ranked 30/100 players. II is one more proof after the « chosen few » tournaments.

The fine is a deductible donation. The number looks good but Koepka made a ton more on LIV.
Sorry to say that but a golfer is a golfer not a businessman with a clear vision. (Tiger that I loved as a player might be the worst).
Well the PGA Tour got into this situation because they let those 30/100 players have too much say in how they ran things. They had a pretty good run though.

Oh wow. The this is a one time window and no guarantees it will be open again is bold.
A lot of chatter for a tour that just opened it up after being so defiant. It's the one section that really caught my attention as well. It's almost a shot across the bow hoping that a few big names bounce after collecting a fortune and it damages the LIV brand.

Yeah, it will be interesting after it’s all said and done to see how far ahead (or behind if you ask people like Chamblee lol) he comes out.

I have to think of Rahm or Bryson wanted to come back after Feb 2, it would happen.

Don’t know who they will replace Brooks as a captain. But on Twitter they say Ben An and Thomas Detry are joining LIV

This is correct and how it is in every pro sports league..
