Fresh off winning his first major and doing so in dramatic fashion, Bryson DeChambeau had a lot to say. The long bomber talked about his equipment, his transformation and what the future holds. You can watch the press conference below.

With the craziness that has been 2020, the Masters is looming just two months away. A course that historically has shown that length can be helpful but not required (see Zach Johnson, etc). Slipping on the green jacket can also be done without the most accurate tee shots.

With Bryson coming off a huge victory at Winged Foot and doing so as the only player under par, what does the next Major hold for him? Is anything less than a victory a let down?
You tell us! How will Bryson DeChambeau fare at the 2020 Masters in November?

Man, it is hard to bet against him....

One thing I know, if he says he is going to put on 15-20 more pounds, I am not doubting him. It seems like whatever he puts his mind to, he can and will accomplish.

I am not going to say anything less than a win is a disappointment, but it definitely will be to him.

I didn’t think his new bash and slash game would work at Winged Foot. If he putts Augusta like he did there, he’ll be hard to beat. The unknown is how the course will play in November.

Bryson last year showed brilliance on day 1 but drifted way back afterwards.

I believe he had an equipment story last year with going into DGS400 in his irons and wedges and having a grip that was more normal in weight.

That said, I'm still a little concerned for him for playing off uneven lies. I couldn't tell how bad the fairways and rough was at Winged Foot but Augusta has a bunch of awkward lies even out of the fairway.

While he's the current hot topic, I think 2 months is a long time away and I'm not sure if he can maintain sharpness in all aspects of his game till then. Even after quarantine and his stellar run, he did fade back for a bit. I hope that valley doesn't appear since he could be a very fun watch at the Masters with how he played this past weekend.

Recency bias is strong with this one...It's still incredibly hard to win any golf tournament let alone the Master's. To be honest I think his best chance will be next April and not the upcoming one. In November he will have time to test a few things and learn the greens and then execute in April. One little thing that might impact his putting routine is that I believe there are no green books allowed / available at the Master's which for him might be a bigger deal than others. All this being said he is still in the 10 people group that have a shot at winning.

It seems the last several years, that a player gets extremely hot for a period of time, anywhere between 2 to 3 years, and wins several big events. Rory, Spieth, and Koepka are examples. It feels like Bryson may have transported himself into this special category of “hot.” While I wouldn’t bet on him against the field, he certainly is one of the top 2 or 3 favorites, if not THE favorite.

As long as he can avoid getting wet, the typically non-penal rough will be a joke to him, and the other pros. His putting will determine his fate. I would not bet against him.

He will win by 1,582 and ruin my second favorite major. 😭

Still. It’s slightly better than Reed.

I would put my money on a top 3 finish. This guy is so locked in right now and he definitely wants to bully Augusta with his distance. If he can putt well I think he will be tough to beat.

All depends on which Bryson’s short game shows up. Last week, he put on a display. That hasn’t been his MO with any consistency

One thing is for sure, he has proved that full blown mind clutter is good - at least in his case, yet, interesting he made a statement on how he refocused on hole 9 to stay on track (I think it was 9, anyway he knew he had to get back to his thought process and not think about the win).

He will contend, but I am not sure he wins. With minimal rough and OB more likely for errant tee shots, he will have to be more accurate than he was at Winged Foot imo.

How long do Bryson’s equipment changes spend incubating in the swing lab? Is the 48” driver a possibility in November?

i say no because i don’t think his touch around the greens is good enough. augusta requires so much creativity around the greens, and i worry that bryson’s one length wedges could hold him back. granted, he’s smart enough to know that and might be working hard on that part of his game. i’m definitely pulling for him, though.

As much as I hate to say this, I'll be placing some $$$ on Bryson at Augusta. (Of course, I also bet on him to win the US Open, but I'm a degenerate.)

Gamblers, here is your missed cut guarantee. :p

I don't know if the April Champions Dinner will be Steak & Chocolate Milk, but if Bryson does win, he'll annoy the heck out of everyone there. Can you imagine him at the Champions Dinner?

He'll sit between Jack and Tiger ("We're the Wolfpack")
He'll host the first dinner with sponsor product placement.
He'll talk about pumping up.
He'll serve chocolate milk.
He'll continue talking about pumping up.
He'll wonder why Rory isn't there.
He'll give Spieth several inexplicable tips.
He'll describe how he putted his approach on 2, drove the green on 3 and played 13 from the 14th fairway.
He'll complain about the not one, but two slow play violations he received.
He will explain how he overcame them using his anti-slow play and focus governors.
He'll ask 84 year old Gary Player to compare abs.
He'll tell Gary Player he will have better abs at his age.
He'll have no idea why "that guy" is here. (That guy will be Charl Schwartzel).
He'll ask Danny Willett to refill his water glass (because 2 Majors > 1 Major)
He'll be surprised when no one asks for a second glass of milk.

But he will have steak, and in my mind, that balances it out.

I dont think it a win or nothing deal for him. But he for sure is the favorite in my mind. I would say anything less than a top 10 solid showing is a let down..

He will need some more accuracy, wayward tee shots will find trees. Touch around the greens while good will need to be better. Top 5 finish.

It is going to be insane to see what he can do off the tee. How far down the hill can he get on 2, 10, 11? How much will he have left in on 15? How short of an iron can he hit on 4? No matter how well he plays, we are in for something new.

Will place as always 5 bets on majors and up 950 so far this year with big wins on both players so far at WV legal sportsbook.

Masters (which I worked in 86 in medical school and played there after) winner will be among:

1. Johnson
2. Rahm
3. BD
4. Rory
5. Xander S.
