Callaway Apex 19 and Apex Pro 19 Irons

Do you notice a signicant feel difference when you transition between the two models in the set?

None at all. I like the extra forgiveness with my 5-7 irons. Hitting the 8-pw I don't notice a big difference profile wise, and I love how the hit the numbers I need.

Always love seeing this thread bumped.

It's been a career year for me with GIR and the confidence with each club is enjoyable. Approach shots is something I used to struggle with badly but now I'm over 6 GIR and am approaching 7 GIR on average. Pretty happy with that, obviously I'd like to be around 10 a round but that's just being greedy hah.

Last couple of rounds found a little bit of added distance, nothing major but an increase nonetheless, and a higher ball flight. Higher hands on the backswing and more of a turn. It's been about 1.5 rounds since I've tried this and the miss is a pull since I'm getting more out of the swing but something I am more than welcome to harness.

Beautiful irons.

I am not a callaway fan (in my head) even tho I play a EPIC FLASH SZ currently. These irons I haven't even looked at until my buddy bought some Pros this past weekend. Now im looking at a combo set. Like the idea of that as the top line is a little thick for my liking on the forged even tho I love the blade length (although I fear I can't handle it ). I need to hit these badly. I like how the combo set adjust the lofts too compared if you were to do it yourself.

With that blade length are they forgiving enough?

Whoa hit my buddies apex pro today. Was totally surprised. They are borderline intimidating to hit. Love the no offset except a little on the 4i. Heel to toe is sexy. Love the top line. He had the elevate shafts. Was shocked how easy they were to hit. I mean, they weren't super game improvement to hit or anything but not nearly as hard as I expected. Sadly, only got to hit off mats but love the sole and top line.

Why Am I just getting around to these?

These with recoil or Steelfibers would be money.

I also would want a little more distance from the pros. If I had them bent, would that cause a leading edge issue to dig?

I've bent mine every which way, even though I try not to do that much generally. It really depends on your swing and setup. I can't really take them much stronger until around the 7 or I really notice. So I can generally go about a degree a the 7 and maybe 2 by the AW if I really had to. I can be aggressive with the AoA though, and I do think they play with a fair amount of perceived bounce and have launch to give, so I'd be slightly more amenable to taking them stronger than some other sets.

What kind of difference were you seeing vs your gamers. I'm just getting around to the pros myself.

How have the smoke finished held up? It's PVD,no?
Typically I'd say "heck naw" to PVD, I was shocked at how good the demos looked in the smoke. They look like they have been beaten up good too but the finish looks pretty good despite the abuse.

I was losing about 6 yards to my gamers.

I would say it's okay. I feel like I've seen more durable black than on the Apex, but my buddies have held up well enough. It's seems like the ones that look completely worked or well used very quickly always belong to range rats. Nothing tears into finish like hitting 20 straight from beat up cheaper based turf.

If you have access to a new retail set of pro smoke for normal or discount price grab those things and resell them. They're hard to find now. Better yet, message me and I'll take 'em.

Just the demo smoke pro. Not a set. Didn't realize they weren't available anymore.

Pros...inbound. :D

Congrats. Still trying to figure out if I want the combo or not.

If you're still stressing about the pros, just go with the regular CF19 and you and they'll be great. They're amazing, and you probably won't outplay them or anything. I played them to a plus handicap and @MattyD-MPLS is right now. So just take the extra forgiveness and run with 'em. You're hard pressed to find a person who regrets them.

The CF19s are great! I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

Umm.. I just found my club porn.

That there is a smoke pro with modus 120X in black. Never even dreamed of that combo. It's so hard to find modus 120 in black.

Nice find. I'd probably go with a smoke combo set if they still had em.

Played with mine again yesterday....... Holy moly I forgot how good these clubs are for how small they are. It was 44 degrees and I was playing Chrome soft and it felt like a marsh mellow when I hit them. Switched to the TP5x and still felt softer than my i210 pings.

I played in a 15-20 mph wind Sunday and the Apex pro's were my friend in the wind. It was fun hitting a lower penetrating shot that defies the wind and then a towering PW 160 yards downwind right next to the pin. I used my backup set last time out so having the Pro's back in the bag was a blessing.

My combo set must have senses I’ve been flirting with the Hot Metal Pros because today they saved me. It didn’t matter the lie I felt confident swinging knowing these would hit the number I needed. I can’t say enough good things about these right now. Very confident with them in the bag.
