Callaway Apex Performance Series Irons – Ai200, Ai300 and Ti Fusion

yup. I think the smokes are a good iron, really explosive. These fit in a different spot, even though there will be some similarities in performance.
Interestingly I think the only big similarity will be launch, I’d bet once we get them in monitor together the spin is more robust here, and the Smoke will be more forgiving overall.

I would bet the launch is somewhat similar. They are both going to launch and be ball speed fiends and give good height. Which will offer a good option to hit both price markets.

Tons of respect to Callaway for not releasing something until it’s ready and until it’s a legit improvement over the previous model. We talked to the Callaway team in December about that and it was the same mindset across the board, whether it was golf balls or irons.
Absolutely, I’m glad they didn’t rush it but waited til they were right! There is going to be some happy THPers with these!

I know that @Dougie is going to be getting a demo day in on Saturady and is currently playing the Smokes. I'm sure he'll weigh in this weekend.
you lucky guys and your demo days! there isn't one within 50 miles from me (at least listed on the Callaway site) until 9-11 at Topgolf.

Talked about it in the article, but the Ai Smoke are the most forgiving iron options Callaway has in line right now. If max forgiveness is the goal, then that is the iron. To me that means we will see them keeping their standard release line irons relevant cycle to cycle, and the Apex remain more aspirational irons. I like that move.
Seems like AI300 can cover a very large portion of the golfing populus as well, so it'll be interesting to see what the standard release looks like early next year. A plethora of options for folks!

I just like that Callaway is flat out saying that the Ai Smoke will remain in line and their most playable irons for those needing max forgiveness. It’s cool to see them included, and not left out.

Check out any big box retail locations near you, they'll definitely have something.

oh yeah, I'll hit up a PGASS as soon as I can. Just wish there was a demo day on grass somewhere nearby.

Have you checked a B&M future event tab? I know GG is getting them available. No outdoors, but an option.

Anyone out there concerned or with thoughts about the move from predominantly being a cavity back line to now fully hollow?

This is what I’m hoping to see. Spin is the one place I would like to see improvement from the Smokes. Well that and maybe a little bit of feel.

@ddec and I talked about this a bit at Ballyhack.

For me, it makes sense given their ability to actually maintain spin with their hollow models, and it obviously offers them more manipulation and tuning potential. Plus, the 300 are technically considered cavity by them, which I found interesting.

For me, Hollow Body just makes the most sense given what can be done with it, especially when you have urethane microspheres.

With a forged face AND a forged body here, you’ll get that feel.

Spot on.
Playing the smokes now. Very comparable to the 200 in launch, but better spin in the 200.

I am seeing slightly higher launch in the TI Fusions with more spin than the Smokes, which is exactly what I’m looking for.

For the better or more confident ball striker, the Ti will shock some people.

However, it’s definitely not as forgiving as the 200 or 300 imo, but it’s not meant to be either.

I haven’t heard about any double trade in bonus any time soon, but certainly worth time to pop by a Callaway fitting event at a golf course 😉
You can find these on the Callaway website and the events will show up as well as the availability. You know for those interested.

Yeah, I've been looking on the Callaway site for a little bit...they seem hot

Are the OG Paradym irons now out of line, with this launch?

Nailed it.

The TIs are like a teched out Pro. Def not as forgiving as the other lines, but man they are fun.

I agree. these are very forgiving irons and look really good IMO. Sure I love the beauty of the new Apex AI line. I'd absolutely love to dream about gaming the Ai200 or AiTi. However, I think the AiSmoke Max fit the current state of my game better....testing to see....will definitely happen once these new beauties hit the store shelves.
