Callaway Apex Performance Series Irons – Ai200, Ai300 and Ti Fusion

Also, my 4i literally laughed at me when I hit it (and well) today after 3 rounds of @Canadan hitting it 280

Finally in a headspace, and physical space, to sit down behind a keyboard here in just a bit.

But, after 3 rounds at my home course, then 3 rounds at the Oasis in Ohiotopia, then two more rounds here today at home, I wanted to share a wear pic.

I’ll be honest, it’s not as crazy as I thought or expected.

Is the back of the iron wearing because of bag clatter. That is the one area that would concern me to wear so quickly Wouldn't expect that from 10 rounds. I'm more in the they are a tool and if you get black it is going to wear. But that back seems to be quick. It is what it is if you are getting gains. Just curious.

It’s wearing pretty much exactly like I’d expect out of a PVD black finish on clubs that are carried in a bag with other clubs and then slammed into the dirt/sand repeatedly.

That said, they should have done satin with a two tone to showcase the titanium band areas of trying to hide the seam under black finish.

How are the toplines looking?

Got in a couple of rounds with the 200s over the weekend. No range time just straight in the bag. I was living on the toe pretty much all of both rounds but still managed to hit a bunch of good shots with them. Distances definitely aren't dialed in yet. I had a few that I thought I hit really well that ended up short and some I didn't think I caught great that went longer than expected. I'm chalking that up to my swing and lack of range time for now. I will say that even on mis-hits these still feel so much better than I thought they would. When you do catch the center it's almost like the ball isn't even there. They also look crazy good in the bag. Even without distances dialed in I'm ready to send in my trade-in clubs with no remorse.

Back at it again today

Man, those irons sure look sweet! I don't have the game for them which I am kinda glad because the finish coming off so easy would really bother me so I am thinking about a set of Ai300's next season or maybe the Ai200's since this season is winding down.

If you’re a decent ball striker I’d go AI200. The margins are pretty slim between the two imo. A little more offset and a little more pop in the AI300 but the AI200 is jam packed with forgiveness and also has a little workability to it

The only workability I struggled with the AI200 was trying to knock it down and still have some spin. I could hit “Lower” shots but it was always more like a low spin punch as compared to a low spinning stinger type shot. I don’t work the ball much left or right, but with out Colorado winds you need that low one pretty often.

I’m sure you’re trying not to die of sleeplessness @xThor , but I’d love to hear how the TiFs worked for you in so much wind this week!

I’m a pretty high spin player so I haven’t noticed that but I would expect it to be somewhat of an issue with an iron like this. I found a lot of success this weekend clubbing up and just swinging easier rather than trying to deloft something

Maybe these will go the way of “road worn” guitars and be kind of a thing.

Same. I've heard these are really supportive of spin, not anti-spin heads.

These irons are an absolute WILD ride.

Quite a few wind aided bombs with the 4 iron last weekend that had me questioning a lot of what I consider to be reality.

Some of the other heads were super interesting too. The 9 iron just ripping through the air with ease, the 6 iron floating for days. I'll admit I didn't hit much into the wind, but with it was an absolute adventure.

And the sound. I can't wait for others to describe it.

Yeah after 14 holes, I could tell the wind took them a bit. But I think they would be really easy to work them now that I have a small idea of what they do. But I don't think I would knowingly go out in that kind of wind to test myself lol

I think a lot of golfers are going to be baffled by them... Because of their size, shaping, and overall performance.

It's a really wild mix of ball speed and workability.

I was shocked at how slim they were. They look so good behind the ball

One of the weirdest parts about it, was how invested I was in hitting the ever loving @#$%^ out of the ball just to see how crazy it could get haha - Tech like that just begs to see how far it can be taken.

I'm excited to see how the testers experience them with normal, confident swings and not just swings that are worth posting on the internet.

The sound….. um that is hard to describe other than addictive. It is what everyone says Mizuno marshmallow shots do to them, the Tifusion does to my senses. A unique sound to say the least, but holy Wowzers. Honestly, the only reason I am keeping them is that feeling.

Yeah, I really like that.

Once you really catch one on the screws, there's a certain level of desperation to do it again.... and again... and again.. just to hear it
