Callaway Apex Performance Series Irons – Ai200, Ai300 and Ti Fusion

It is. And it's kind of making me question going with the Ai300s in the rest of my irons.
Do you have a 300 AW? I can’t believe it’s that different atcaddress.

I don't. When I bought my Ai300s the AW wasn't available to me so I kept my DCB.

Probably not that much different but the Ai200s just feel a bit better.

The 200s feel better than DCB or 300s?

Both. Currently.

Really starting to find the speed in the AI200s. It’s amazing what happens when you find the middle of the face, right? 83mph SS (seems a little low but won’t argue) and produced 125mph ball speed. Previously I was at about 85mph with about 117mph ball speed but very toe side contact

Got out this morning before work to play the first round with the new Fujikura Pro shafts in the TiF. The feel definitely went up a notch as far as the full swing went. This shaft is a better fit for me than the steel was.

As far as the performance goes, it’s way too early to judge, but I do feel like I saw a difference. The ball fight looked and felt higher. The ball was landing softer and spinning more for sure. That was nice to see because the greens at this course were firm and fast.

I’m still mental on the tee of the par threes. The first one today I pulled it a touch left. The second one I pull hooked it OB left. On the third one I moved to just putting the ball on the ground with no tee. Perfect contact and shot right to the middle of the green. Same thing on the final par three. Looks like for now, that’s gonna be the play.

Overall, another great day with the Apex TiF. I had more shots out of the center so I got to feel that extra special feeling that they give. Hopefully that continues the next round out.

Dart from 174.

Another range session today - addictive hitting these irons.

Worked my way up again from AW to 5i with 7-10 per club. Slightly off the pace today as shoulder was aching and it was definitely getting colder here down to 50f from 60f yesterday which will have had an impact.

Amazing flight on these and so nice to hit. Got some practice in hitting a few knock down distances for those inter-club yardages and that worked really nicely as well.

Ended up with a Toptracer 30 with a PB, and approaches being my strongest point at +5.6SG and then a Toptracer 12 which had my iron play at +6.8hcp which is laughable of course but was entirely down to me nailing all 9 iron shots and sticking 3 of them within 10ft of the hole from 100-150yds out.

It was great hitting to a target but I'll hold any kind of likely score / hcp improvement until I play some real golf. Certainly positive signs are there.

Little battle between the DCB AW (Dart 90) and the Ai200 AW (Dart 105) today. Hitting on a mat into a Net Return Net. Had the MLM2pro with me but the sun shining into the shed seemed to skew numbers.

From a feel standpoint the Ai200 is light years ahead of the DCB in my opinion.....which blows my mind because the DCB AW has been one of my favorite clubs.

Kinda prefer looking down at the Ai200 too.

Okay first, nice toe shot on the new Apex...how'd say it ended up even if the reading was a bit off?

Second, how did I miss you got a 200??? I know the way you ordered originally, the AW wasn't available at the time with the 300. I I didn't even realize that the AW you did end up getting was the 200. Was there a reason for that? I remember seeing your order with the trade in and the Callaway credit, I just didn't even look to see that it was a 200

And so it happend. The legend is true
Ti Fusion: hole in one within a month.
All other sets the last 25 years.... 1 hole in one.
Amazing ! congratulations - first of many lets hope

When I was at Ballyhack I hit @MikeG s 5 iron I think. That planted a seed. It felt good especially with a 105g shaft. Piled on top of the fact when I got fit they told me I could easily play the 200 it I wanted. So I decided to give it a shot.

Numbers distance wise we're about identical, but I liked the launch better. I think the ai200 will do a better job of holding greens with my swing.

The results were pretty good for cold temps and range balls. The weight of the shaft imo helps keep a good tempo in the swing also.

I like it...how far up would you think of combo-ing?

Idk. Maybe up to 8? 8 iron is my favorite club in the bag and 8-AW are the distances I feel most dialed in. We'll see. Might just mess around with different weights in the Ai300 and see what happens.

Yeah that was the thing that stuck out to me at Ballyhack. I felt I could really control the club better too. Idk ...got me thinking of some real crazy internet golfer stuff. 😂

But combo sets are so much more THPer lol

I know you’re not asking me but I’m 6-7 ai300 and 8-pw ai200. As i get more comfortable they deliver expected results.

I’ve seen what you’ve said so far! Seems like you made a great choice to NOT wait until next year lol

So far so good. Still getting acquainted with distance and aim, but no complaints. I think for smaller sets, 8 is a good place to split.
