Callaway Apex Performance Series Irons – Ai200, Ai300 and Ti Fusion

After 3 rounds in Missouri a couple weeks ago and another at home yesterday the tinkering has begun. SW was a little lighter than I normally play. Bumped it up a little. Now they compare really close in feel to my previous gamers. Sorry Apex but lead tape is being applied. Range session upcoming. Will see if change is positive or detrimental. IMG_0682.jpeg

Yours came light? Mine came feeling like hammers lol

When I get them reshafted, the first question I’m going to ask is what the swing weight was because I definitely don’t want that again

With the Dart 90s on my sw scale they were hovering right at or just bit under D0. Now they are just a touch over D1.

I never got mine checked when I first got them. When I had them re-shafted a couple weeks ago, they are now D1. They definitely feel different than when I first got them.

The lead tape is staying. Big improvement today from the previous 4 rounds.

The last thing to touch on is the looks. Out of the box, I don't know if I've seen a more beautiful set of irons from Callaway. The black finish and chrome badging on the Apex logo, the matte finish on the face. It's all just stunning. Now you expect these kinds of irons to show wear. Anyone who doesn't, is one of those golfers trying to convince you that loft is the only thing that matters in a club...both things are patently false. But the wear on these has been disappointing to say the least. It's been harped on. The horse has been beat many times. I will just add my before and after pictures and say I'm disappointed in the large amount of wear in such a short amount of time.

This is a helpful review. I have a set on the way, and I've looked into the idea of sandblasting them. Can anyone think of a reason NOT to sandblast these heads? The only thing that gives me pause is the possibility of it affecting the titanium?

Can anyone suggest a company to perform this work?

I think it would look pretty sick, but I have ZERO in the way of expertise on what that would or wouldn’t do to affect the face of the club.

Whether you do or you don’t though, seeing the way the irons perform, does soften the blow of what they look like. Like I mentioned, these are concept irons. They aren’t perfect and they will get better. We are paying to be a part of that initial test of sorts though

For those that are playing the TiFusion, can anybody compare them to the Paradym irons? I don't think I missed a comparison, so if I did, please direct me.

What did you see out of it?
Center contact was much improved ball height improved as did spin. The sw feels more like the demo club did.

Contact and ball flight much improved. Height spin and distance more inline with demo day. They now SW at nearly the same as my previous gamers. I wish I knew what the demo day clubs sw at. The connector I know ips it some. If I remember correctly CC told me their connector added 1 sw measurement.

And this was just range correct? Data or just eye test?

Ohhhh so easy to see results! I like it and love to hear it!
Very easy to see. If I had made a few putts todays round could have been a really good one.

Blasphemy...put some black tape on that, or at least paint it. 😞

Well from the feedback and pics posted on the finish wear issues, the head will pretty match the tape color in a few rounds anyway.
These are not going to be show pieces very long.

They absolutely wear, but not THAT poorly.

Naaaaah. Lead tape is something that should be shown off. An internet golfers badge of honor! 🤣

So I need to find someone with OCD that has these then... 😀

It’s all I had at the time. Might do something a little bit more cosmetically pleasing.
