I think it you use it off the tee as a fairway finder, you will really like it. I'm able to hit it a bit lower off the tee to get some run in the fairway, but it's surprised me with the overall distance. But even more shocking is how consistent it is finding fairways.I am almost certain I will have the Pro 4i in the bag. I my 4i off the tee a good bit and it's a more forgiving iron than my 5-PW. Gives me extra confidence that I will find the fairway. You are crushing the 4i BTW.
I predict good things! After playing a couple of rounds with an empty spot between 5 hybrid (4 iron distance) and 6 iron, I decided to go ahead and order a Pro 5 iron to go with the set. Already had at least 3 instances in two rounds where I need that yardage and don't like trying to take something off the 5 hybrid. The face is so hot it can still go long even choking down and swinging easier. Might only use it on some par 3s and punching out of trees, but we'll see.
Any questions you have that would help come time for your fitting at ECPC?Lots of great info and feedback in this thread. Much appreciated!
Did you try the paradym? I am at the point that I don’t know what I would gain from going away from a paradym-type iron but love the looks of these. My iron game got a little better when I went from this type of profile to my current irons that are closer to paradym. I just don’t know what I would gain and lose going with the Apex Pro over paradym. I am glad I am going to a fitting where I can try both and see what they say.Any questions you have that would help come time for your fitting at ECPC?
I have not tried the Paradym irons. But I do know that I love the Pro 4i and 5i, and they share a very similar construction with the Paradym irons. So if that's the case, and the feel of the Pro is close to the feel of the Paradym throughout the entire set, I would probably have no issues gaming them. Wish I would provide more, but can't wait to see how it turns out for you and which they think is best for you and your game!Did you try the paradym? I have hit the paradym and apex pro and love them both. I will see what is in the Callaway lineup for next year and hit what is the best fit. I think there will be a number of THP’ers in the Apex that will be fit into these and able to add to the wonderful feedback that you and others have been giving us.I have not tried the Paradym irons. You can see it.
But WHY? There has to be a design reason. They wouldn't do it for nothin
Nope. It’s not really a big deal. Hopefully you never hit the ball there.Did you guys figure out the reasoning for this?
Yeah I'd say 92% is a very consistent number lolBut even more shocking is how consistent it is finding fairways.
Just so much confidence in it. Can't wait for the Grandaddy guys to see for themselves!Yeah I'd say 92% is a very consistent number lol
Surely your el capitone can make sure that happens. lolI hope I have a bit of time to at least give these a swing next week!
He's busy for three straight hours, he doesn't have time to worry about what I'm doing lolSurely your el capitone can make sure that happens. lol
I’ve hit this spot. It in fact does not increase performance . I wonder if it’s a hidden offset.Nope. It’s not really a big deal. Hopefully you never hit the ball there.
Yeah. Just something I have never seen before. I was most curious if it was a milling. Mistake or if it was everywhereI’ve hit this spot. It in fact does not increase performance . I wonder if it’s a hidden offset.
I have a feeling that you'll somehow manage to squeeze it in.I hope I have a bit of time to at least give these a swing next week!
I'm not going to be on ECPC grounds and not take a COUPLE swings with stuff...I have a feeling that you'll somehow manage to squeeze it in.
I believe @Jman has.Hi all.
I wonder if anyone hit the new UT and could compare to the old one?
Did you happen to notice any difference in spin and launch?I was able to spend 10 minutes with the Apex CB, with the same shaft I have in the Pros. I noticed:
1. Very consistent distance overall
2. Thinner topline. Which i expected, but not as intimidating after a few shots.
3. Good forgiveness low on the face, but not quite as good as what I was experiencing with the Pro.
4. Love the feel. The Pro is solid. But the CB is a great plush feel that's addicting. Really like it!
I really want to spend some more time with the CB's, as I'm considering a blended set. I'm happy with the Pros, but I'm a tinkerer, for good or bad, and love trying different irons out. Love the soft feel in the scoring irons, and the CB's delivered. Need to see the scoring differences though, compared to the Pros. Hope to get them both on a monitor if the opportunity arises this winter.
I haven't had the Pros on a monitor to know a baseline with them unfortunately. Another reason I want some more testing this winter, to get these numbers. Just need to find the time.Did you happen to notice any difference in spin and launch?
