Callaway Chrome Tour, Chrome Tour X, and Chrome Soft Golf Balls

Finally got a chance to give the Chrome Tour balls a try in a couple rounds. Really liked what i saw all around.felt great off the driver and reacted well on shots into the green both full shots and chips. Had shots i wanted to check up do so nicely and put a couple shot nicely close to the pin each round. Thinking i am switching up from the Chrome Soft with my next ball order.

I switched from the Tour to the X hoping for more spin on the short irons and wedges to control the ball flight at little better. What I got was the same balls speed I'm seeing with the mid irons. Not a bad thing if you need it. There is more spin on really short check-up style chips but I'm going back to the tour. The X for me is almost a full club longer.

Had a stinky round going so I played the X today for about 7 holes. The extra spin around the greens is intriguing, but I'm still seeing more spin than I'd want in the full swing PW and GW. Hard to say if working on taking spin off would be worth it to have the spin when needed. Having most of a season with the Chrome Tour + AI One combo on the greens, there's a bigger difference in feel switching to the X than when I tested them back in the spring. So I think I'm still going to stick with the Tour unless something really sways me learning from the Callaway folks at the GD.

The X I played today was a TruTrack and I just really like it. Think I'm gonna go back to it next time I order more.

Back to the TruTrack Tour

Really curious how the CTx is going to do for me this next dozen. I’m kinda fighting the ct recently.

out of curiosity, Titleist touts their V1x to fly higher than the ProV1 and AVX. Is the Chrome Tour X the highest flying of the Chrome Tour balls?

I've tried both the Tour and Tour x, I haven't seen any significant difference in the flight window, but yes, the tour x is slightly higher

So this year I have been putting the new Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X in the Bag. Man, do I love these golf balls? I have some things about both that I have liked, however ultimately I ended up landing on the Chrome Tour X but let me tell you my thoughts on both.
1 The Chrome tour: This ball is everything I wanted except the spin. I love this golf ball and the feel of it. The firmness that this golf ball has is amazing I love it! But as I mentioned that comes with a lack of spin. I found myself unable to hold my greens as well as I normally could with the Pro V line. Other than that I really like this ball and would most likely play it if it was soft outside.
2. The Chrome Tour X: This golf ball is a great combination of firmness and spin. If I'm honest I am sacrificing a little bit of firmness but not enough to break the deal. I like this golf ball. I have been using this for most of the summer except when trying to burn through the pro vs I had ordered. I love the spin that this golf ball has. I can tell the difference. I have a lot of in-between wedge shots and this Golf Ball has been an amazing golf ball for those shots. I feel like I can control them a lot better than I can with the Chrome Tour.

Chrome tours loaded up for San Antonio. Let’s get to work.

Chrome Tour X came close to a hole in 1 today

Smooth 7 from 155 ... I did make the birdie 🤣IMG_0524.jpeg

The chrome tours were a perfect choice for the Morgan Cup. Did everything I would want out of a golf ball and more. Controlled on the greens, flew true off irons and wedges, and were long off the tee. Couldn’t ask for more out of a golf ball.

I played Chrome Soft on my rounds, except in Alt Shot where we decided to go Chrome Tour with @CBaker. What I can say about the CS, is that the ball definitely doesn't lose out in performance!

When I was actually making good contact, the CS really went! I think it performed even a bit better in the Texas heat than in the Finnish cold. I had consistent and good spin with my irons and wedges and loved the Tru Track for putting alignment.

I played the Chrome Tour on several rounds at home before the event, so it wasn't an unknown to me. For me, the performance of both is really close.

I’ve been super happy with the results of Chrome Tour X this season. I honestly started the year with playing just standard chrome tour because that’s seemingly what everyone said to play. I would reccomend people get out and try the CTX. I think the feel is extremely nice and the spin on the green is tighter. If you are wanting more spin on the green this ball is worth trying out!

I have been using the Chrome Tour for the better part of the year. I have switched a few times to other things to try them out, but always find myself back in the CT. I absolutely love the ball flight off the irons and the staying power. It spins great around the greens and the feel is what I like in a golf ball, which still feels a bit soft to me.

I picked up a box of Chrome Tour with some club pro shop cash to try them out. I'm very happy with them, the feel off the club is very solid the ball flight is strong, and the feel around the greens and on the greens is very "crisp".
I really like them, and will play them for the rest of the season for sure.

I've played the CT all year long and have done so in some windy conditions but playing on vaca along the ocean with a hurricane approaching was a bit of a different story.

Played 3 rounds in the Destin area last week, and put the CT in play as normal. It was performing like it has all year, very well with no major wind impacts. I got up to a par 5 and hit driver like normal, but it took a weird hop and ended up in a hazard. No biggie go to re-tee, hit a nice one out there but watched it slowly start to drift with the cross wind coming off the water. Thought that's odd, but didn't think anything of it until I got up to the ball and realized I had left some non CT in the bag and grabbed one by mistake. Finished out the hole obviously, but immediately retired that and pulled out a new CT to finish out the round.

I say that not to knock the other ball in anyway, it's a great ball, it just doesn't perform the way the CT has for me all year- especially in windy conditions. I'm beyond excited to hear what Mr. Finley and crew have come up with next.

The aero is very under rated. I tested out some other balls this year and they were good but they lacked the consistency I see from both the CT and CTX.

Also I don’t know if it is the smoke max or the ball but the combo has cut down on penalty’s off the tee by about 30-40%

It's truly been a great ball off the tee for me as well. I'm one who looks at performance off the tee first with a golf ball and it's helped hide some of my swing flaws this year.

You typically flight a fade correct?

Yep- tried going draw this year and it just wasn't in the books, so instructor and I just said go with what's more natural and own it.

I already spin a lot, and the X spins too much for me.
Did you put it into play though?

I have crazy high spin numbers with my driver but I find the x to have a bit more distance and less curvature than the CT. Sometimes the sim and real world don’t agree.

I am not talking drastically different but it’s enough that I can bounce happily between both with few issues and if I’m play greens where there’s concerns around not holding its x all day.

I played the last version of the X a bunch, but after testing the CT I liked it better. It just seems to perform how I'd want it to so I have stuck with it this year.
