Callaway Elyte Fairway Woods

Since getting my Elyte Ti 5W, I’ve been struggling a bit to gel with it. The stock shaft didn’t feel right…so I swapped in my old 3W shaft Abd choked down. Well…on 18 I had my worst drive of the day. On this hard par 5, my bid to avoid a double or worse free round was in jeopardy.

Great time to have that “I love this club!!” Swing. It is a monster 5W result for me. Put me in position to save bogey. Pull off the extremely rare no double or worse round and win my league event!

I've talked a lot about my triple diamond 3 wood and how much I love it...this led me to add the 5 wood. I have always been somewhat of a revolving door in this spot...driving irons have lived there, most recently it was the UW which I was pretty happy with, but with the love of the 3 wood I figured a 5 wood might be a good play.

I am so damn happy I added this club. Let's go through the stand out points for me:

-The ease of launch - we have seen it time and time again from folks testing the 3 wood and others who own multiples, but it needs to be mentioned how easy it is to get this thing high.
-The shape and design make me feel like I can draw this if I need to - I fade every shot, just how I've grown into my swing...but when I need a draw off a tee I feel like I can fall back to this club and do it. I struggle to do it consistently with driver and even 3 wood, but this one I feel like when I need it, it's there.
-The mid flight bunt off the tee - sometimes under pressure on a shorter hole you just need to find the FW...I had always relied on either a driver iron or a 4 iron to do this but sometimes you just can't create enough ball speed to give yourself a decent number in...not anymore! I am falling in love with this shot where I move it back in my stance a touch and have an abbreviated follow through and just try and hit a mid flight cut down the right side. It's something I can go to when I need it and I just need to find a FW or put myself in a decent spot on a shorter hole. For someone who sometimes loses confidence with driver this is so nice to have in the bag.

Excited to keep using this, but wanted to mention some highlights out of the gates.
I need to work on that mid flight shot off the tee with the 5w. I think I could use that shot in a few places at my home course where I need to get far enough out there, but get through some wind.

I’m still trying to tame the overdraw so I get your early “struggles” but I’ve gotten better every round so far. So your shaft switch may be what you’re looking for! That’s a hell of a second shot!

It's a nice shot to pull out when you gotta fight through either some elements or just getting one out there...it's becoming a reliable thing for me now

I just keep going back to these thoughts.
Confidence is a huge aspect with the game of golf. Not having that confidence will leave you with circling thoughts in your mind and cause frustration. The Elyte X 3W changed everything about confidence in the top section of my bag. How you may ask? Well the Elyte X 3w has taken a penalizing miss, low off the face and allowed me to stay in the hole looking at par or better. With the Tungsten Speed Wave, the results from these misses have been met with a chuckle or joyful four letter response. The technology is legit and 95% of the time leave you in an area that should not be possible.
The Tungsten Speed Wave is not the only thing I find myself raving about. As a previous swinger of 3w's that would leave the best excavator jealous is no more. The Step Sole has provided me to step up to the ball with a confidence that the club in hand will allow me to interact with the turf that won't leave the local grounds keeper looking for me. With parting thoughts if you struggle with misses low off the face or have poor interaction with the turf with 3w in hand I beg you to try these for yourself! You will be amazed and a true believer!

Think you nailed this...confidence is so key to playing well and this club gives so much damn confidence

Without it in these very situations I was dead in the water. No clue what to do or try, but it always ended up with being less than amused. Now I am seeing better scores in these situations!

This is what I'd relate the issues I've had at times with the Ti 5w. Trusting that the step sole is going to help get through the turf better so that I'm not hesitant to go down and get the ball (if that makes sense) is huge. Was hitting it the best I have to this point on the range last week Friday and I'll have some opportunities to use it both off the tee and in the fairway this evening in league. As confidence in the club grows as I get more accustomed to it, I think it could be a really special one.

I'm still not 100% certain if I should just butt trim the Ventus Red 6S 3W shaft (easy), have it tip trimmed for 5W use and trimmed to length, or souce a 70g shaft to better align with my UW and 5H.

Thanks. That was a must perform shot if I wanted to recover. so much danger staring at me, as I needed all the distance to get me a change at the 3rd shot approach. Dead straight, high launch rocket ship.

The Elyte X 3w didn’t just earn a spot in my bag, it earned my trust. What stood out through this testing wasn’t the performance on perfect swings, but how consistently it showed up when the swing wasn’t perfect. Low on the face strikes that used to be punished still launched with purpose and carried with confidence thanks to the Tungsten Speed Wave. The Step Sole gave me clean turf interaction from lies that used to make me second guess pulling fairway wood at all. Tight, downhill, even soggy, it doesn’t matter. This club erased fear and replaced it with freedom. I came into this testing period unsure if I could ever truly rely on a 3w. I’m leaving it with one that feels like an old friend. Always ready, always dependable, and capable of shots I didn’t know I had.

This has been huge for me, along with the confidence part you mentioned. Even on those poor strikes, being able to stay in the hole is huge. The upside of the really good shot is there, but what the Elyte has done is raise the floor for the bad shots to help narrow the gap between good and bad.

As if I can add more to what everyone has already said!

Walking down the fairway I was talking to my buddy. Why do I have a 5 wood into this par 4 after a decent drive?

Toed it slightly but solid push draw contact. Missed it pin high from 214 out.

Found out at the end of the round getting up and down here was for birdie because it was actually a par 5! :ROFLMAO:

If the turf interaction is as good as the reviews are with the step sole, that in and of itself is enough to convince me. Fwy off the turf has been my kryptonite for quite a while.

The Step Sole is legit. You hear folks talk about it and wonder is it real. Does it really improve turf interaction. It indeed does. I can’t recall having to clean the bottom of my fairway wood from the earth yet.

It’s honestly better than advertised. I’ve hit 3W good off the tee in the past but never experienced anything like the Elyte 3w off the turf. It’s pretty mind blowing how easy and forgiving it truly is.

I just keep going back to the fact that this is the first 3w that hasn’t made me even think about putting my 21 yr old Cleveland Launcher Titanium back in the bag.

Man, the Ti is so much fun to hit off the tee

I was able to use my Elyte 3w a few times in today's round. I had to pull it on a 2nd shot par 4 after i hit my drive high and short. I was in the rough but a clear shot out and had 270 to the pin. I hit a nice ball that stopped 30 yards from the pin center fw. Getting me up that close gave me a chance to pitch on and a look for the par save which i just missed. The last time was off the tee again on 17. I actually drop kicked this a bit but the ball just launched high and straight down the fw. I still got 190yards out of that shot with a good look at the green. The step sole is absolutely impressive how well it works!

Ti 5 wood continues to impress when I put a good swing on it. The performance low out of the face is just astonishing. I had 220 to a pin on a par 5 tonight and pulled the Ti. Missed it just a hair low but still hit a tight draw that rolled up to the middle of the green and set me up for a long birdie putt after topping a 3 wood on the shot prior.

I need to get my brain to trust going down to get the ball. I've been missing fairway woods thin so far this year. Just need to keep getting the reps in and stop thinking so much over the ball.

Stop pulling the 3w. 5w will do the job 😝

I can talk about distance with the Ti 5w but I have to use this post to talk about feel. Back when I had the 6g in the front weight port, I mentioned that the Ti felt like there was more behind the face. The only way I could think of describing that was “fuller”. I wasn’t a huge fan of it

Well after just over a month with the lighter 2g weight in the front, I’ve absolutely loved how soft it’s made this fairway feel. It’s like I can feel the ball completely trampoline and just rocket off the face. That sensation is felt on almost the entire face. I love the feeling of smoking one with the Ti. It might be the most satisfying feeling club in the whole bag.

I moved the 6g weight forward too, but I think I'm going to try to switch it back and see what comes of it. I feel like once I unlock this club, results are gonna be crazy. That shot I hit with it to reach the par 5 today was one of the best approach shots I've ever hit bar none and it wasn't even a "great" strike. Just bonkers.

I have a 2g front (from my driver) and the 10g in back. It’s been spectacular.

Yeah this club just gets the ball moving. I haven’t missed with it in three rounds now. I think I’m finally comfortable. Still going to cut my LinQ Red down and make it a fairway shaft. But it’s nice trusting it almost completely now.

You’re not going to want to hit anything but the 5w soon dude! I mean at least when it comes to swinging one of your fairways

Fairway woods are unique and not for everybody. When a new one hits the market those that love fairways sit up in their chair and pay attention. Those that have a love hate relationship, sit back and wait to see if the hype is real.

The Elyte 3W takes all the your previous biases and throws them out the window. We often talk about “Evolution” versus “Revolution” with new equipment. I can say the Elyte fairways are a revolution to the space they occupy. With Callaway we know we will get distance and forgiveness. We do not second guess overall performance, but depending on your needs, not all the boxes are checked. With the Tungsten Speed Wave helping to retain ball speed away from center and low on the face, the Elyte 3W offers the playability and forgiveness I personally need and welcome. Combine that with the Step Sole and you have a combination that will reward center strikes as expected, but will allow not so efficient swings to retain efficiency and provide results better than we deserve as we explore the face away from center.

The Elyte line of fairways offer something for a broad range of golfers. They will surprise even the most ardent fairway lover and convert a few of the more reticent players. Give them a try and you might be surprised.

Ah yep, I misread that. I swapped the 10g and 6g weight in the Ti to put more up front. Going to switch it back to the 10 in back and see if it makes any difference in what I’m seeing in flight.
