Callaway Elyte Fairway Woods

Dialing in the Ti setup and thinking the TR Red 7X is my best shaft setup. Weights atm are 6g forward and 12g rear.

I absolutely adore this fairway wood. Im still using the Elyte 5 wood and its to the point that I honestly can't even think about going to something else when I have that distance. I will even try to talk myself into hitting it over a hybrid or iron on an approach because the confidence is that high.

Ball flight initially gets up quick, flies pretty darn straight and lands soft for me. Its continually been my 220 club and even holes I used to lay up routinely to a number, I find myself going all out with this one.

As posted this weekend, I put a new shaft in the Elyte X 3 Wood for saturdays round. The good is I am now hitting it dead straight. The bad is now I need to aim down the middle instead of plan for a fade.

See the following recap of hole 9, and really long par 5. After a good drive center fairway I still had 280 left. There's a tree on the right edge of the fairway which I aimed right of, to plan for a fade (over the tree) back to fairway for a short pitch to the green. Well the ball never moved off line, carried all of that 227 and landed in shin high rough by the cart path. I did what I could to hit out and get it on the upslope of the green. Then chipped up, and missed the 10 foot putt, to end with a bogey. That's my game, so I don't hate it.

The Elyte X 3 wood just gives me 220-225 carry consistently, which is great to have. I have yet to really duff one outside on course. At it's worst I get 180 out of a shot hit fat.

quoting the bolded...if you do that, are you saying your confidence is high regardess of shot type? If you pulled this instead of a hybrid or an iron, you'd obviously have to lay off of it a bit yeah?

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been on my sim but every time I’m reminded how forgiving these are when I hit one thin and see no drop in ball speed. On course lately I’ve seen still mostly fantastic performance, but with some pulls mixed in. Those are on me for sure, but the only thing that could really be added to the still is some ability to add fade bias with some adapters and/or weights. My preferred option is the adapter because I don’t want Callaway to touch a dang thing with the head lol

Just finished a struggle session on the sim. I’m making progress and found something in the irons, but the driver was off tonight. So bagged it and hit Elyte X 3 wood off the tee every time. With the #1 Birtee this thing was money. 235-245 carry was the number. The new shaft is amazing in this head and I’m timing up nicely with it.

it’s bad that I’m the most confident with these fairways out of any club in the bag right now. That should speak highly for their capabilities.

The Elyte TD 3w continues to just work for me. I only got to use it once for my nine holes yesterday, but I needed to hit a draw around the corner off the tee and was able to pull off the shot. Hitting a controlled draw isn't the easiest shot for me, but I felt confident using the Elyte for the shot. It has become a great option off the tee and off the deck, it gives me the best turf interaction thanks to the step sole of any fairway I've played.

Hit @outlawx Ti 5w off the tee and man that thing is a bomber. Nice penetrating ball flight.

Yeah absolute bomber right? I have had some really good success thus far off the tee. Limited number off the deck and am looking for more opps to use it there.

gotta do like I do sometimes and just drop one somewhere and let it rip Lol. These things are too good not to hit often.

Drop one somewhere and let it rip…sounds like a Kentucky thing? 🤣

7w or return of the heavenwood for my bag? Hmmm

Thanks for the review and comments all. Been thinking about a 5W and this seems to be the one. Now only need to figure out the shaft.

Only needed to pull the 5W once last round, but if there was ever a shot that showed off the step sole design, it was on that shot. Had a bit of a weird lie where I was in the fairway, but had some weird crab grass type turf behind the ball. Well, I hit it a bit heavy catching that thicker stuff behind the ball, but managed to still get through to the ball to make decent contact and get the ball up greenside maybe 10-15 yards short and just pushed out right. What would have otherwise been a duffed shot ended ok.

My vote is now and will forever be Heavenwood.

Edit: You can't trust @JTinMO, he hits the ball from the wrong side. 🤣

This is what I hope to minimize with my fairway. I tend to do this very thing quite a bit.

So driver has been off a bit as of late and I sliced this one off the tree into the next fairway. I had a nice view of the green through the trees between fairways and thought "why not go for it?" Pulled the 5w TD and threaded the needle between the trees and landed right in the front edge of the green. Ball caught the edge of the upper tier (red line) on the green and funneled towards the pin leaving me a 10' or so putt. Missed that but saved for par. Man that felt good! One of the best shots of the day!

I don’t hit it heavy as often as I do thin so the speed wave is what stands out more frequently, but knowing that step sole is there to help gives me that confidence to try and get the club further down to the turf. Then when I do inevitably hit it heavy, it works out.

I got my vote in first, so it counts more. I gave you and @Slowmo about 10 minutes before the heavenwood gushing starts.

Dude, it’s obviously the heavenwood. That thing is just special

I’m just saying we both know what you’d be in if it was an option.

You’re just jealous you can’t get the most amazing club ever created because you’re wrong handed. 😜
