Callaway Elyte Hybrids

I ordered a super heavy 17g weight to see if I can slap it in the heel and an actual draw out of these hybrids. Current ball flight is straight, or if I lean on it I get a baby fade. I would love to get a dependable draw out of these hybrids. And I could use a little more head weight after chopping down the shafts about ¾” from stock.
the shaft length does seem a little long. I never compared it to any other model

They are long. Even chopped down, I still grip down a bit. I need control out of my hybrids, and don’t need them to be distance monsters. Playing them shorter has proven to be very beneficial for me.

Makes sense. No different than a PW vs 7 iron. Need a number not another driver.

Hit this into a par 5 today. 220 yards out ball slightly above my feet. Didn't try to crush the ball just a "normal" swing. Landed about 25 feet away. Nice ball flight, rolled out about 20 feet. I didn't expect the ball to get to the green with the heavier strike that I put on the ball. Very pleased with this purchase. The LINQ 100F5 Black really fits my needs for this hybrid in keeping the ball flight lower

Could’ve sworn my ball looked like this in the air off my 3h the last couple rounds on its way to the middle of the fairway:

Absolutely crushed my 3 hybrid today on several holes. One in particular my drive clipped a tree branch, and I was 270 out on a par 4….less than ideal for sure. Put a smooth swing on the 3x and watched it soar towards the green with a little baby draw that found the fairway and set me up for a chance to get up and down. Missed the putt but have gained a pretty great confidence in this hybrid  . Really never expected to say that….but the Elyte has been so d@mn good all year long.

I only hit the Elyte X hybrids twice today. Both were a little leaky left for me. Both out of the rough, and one was on a side lie so losing it left was no surprise. Both ended up fine, just in the rough, but playable.

I've got thoughts of making a shaft change on these to tighten them up a little. They are currently both AD-DI and AD-IZ shafts. The AD DI definitely feels looser than the AD IZ, but neither are giving me strong feelings of control. More Ventus Blue HB shafts may need to happen. I've got one pull on hand but need to get more adapters.

Completely flipped the weights and lie angle. Feels like it sits better. Will see if this helps consistency at all.

I put the heavy weight in the heel pretty early after seeing rights and never took the time to experiment with it back in the toe like it came. Now is the time.

Limited use today with this club. Needed a punch from the fairway under a massive over hanging tree. Done exactly what I needed it to do without excessive climbing.

I stripe the 3. Have to be careful I dont get too active with the upper body so my baby draw doesnt turn into a hook. The 4h I hit well but I find harder to turn over for whatever reason.

Really good off the tee for me. It also does pretty well out of our rye rough. It is pretty thick in places and in a non-scientific study of 5i, 5w, and 4h, the 4h wins every time in consistency and total distance.

Here I grabbed the 3h instead of the 4h on a short par 4 (this is the one with OB down the right and a fairway width of 20 yards at around 150 out and 10 yards in front of the green). The 3h off the tee soared over 220. Usually I hit 4h to take a collection area left out of play.

Only one use today and it was unconventional. Hit a bump and run from about 30 yards off the green. Distance control was off a bit and had about 15 feet back to the pin. The great part is that it was easy to lineup and really help its line as it rolled over the edge of the hole

I hit the Elyte X 5 Hybrid heavily today, as I had a ton of 185-195 yard shots for some reason. It worked out well, and has solidified its place in the bag. I would not have nearly the same confidence in getting the 5 iron there like I do with the hybrid.

I have to occasional pull shot with it, but the distance is there and the leave it not too bad.

And I don't hate all the headcovers I have going on in the bag, as long as I am hitting them well.

The Elyte X 4 and 5 hybrids got some decently heavy use in Myrtle Beach the last couple of days. I seemed to have a ton of 185-200 yard par 3s or approach shots. There were some super bright spots with both, and I've really grown to enjoy having them in the bag vs a long iron.

There were some struggles trying to hit them out of bermuda rough, but to be fair I think anything struggles in that stuff. They still worked out, but some knuckleball shots were seen. A lot of shots were toe-ey, but I think there was some face twisting in that rough that certainly didn't help.

These are solid clubs, and I think they will stay in the bag for the foreseeable future. I have confidence in them. They helped birdie the first hole on both rounds Friday and Saturday, which goes a long way to having a good day.

The Elyte 4h had some stellar moments on the course this past weekend at Victoria National. I used it both off the tee and OTD throughout the weekend, and the best shot came on hole 8, if I remember correctly. We were playing into the wind and still had a lot of hole to bite off, and @JDax and I both pulled hybrid on the second shot. I hit a cut into the green that held (both of us hit great shots here) and we ended up winning the hole after being further out on approach.

The Elyte hybrids were stars at the Vic.

Was lucky enough to have a full bag of Elytes as my rental clubs on vacation. The 3h, with a Denali Blue shaft, was exactly what I needed. Felt like a comfort blanket when using other clubs.

Very limited contributions to this review considering I just got the club. I have had a few uses on course with it and it is excellent. So easy to launch and requires minimal effort to get great results. I will be keeping this around for a little while to potentially compare to a new model (assumption is that there will be one) so I can give a good honest look and results. After that, a lucky member of the Albatross club could potentially get a hybrid head to put into play.

You're completely right. It launches so easily. If I have any apprehension on a tee shot, then I go 3h.

The 4H has proven to be the smoothest 220 yards I've had in the bag in a long time. I'm excited for what is next

Couldn’t agree more with this! I can’t wait to hit what’s coming next and compare it to the UW and SH! The 4h really is the easiest club I’ve had to go 215-220

I'm gonna go out of a limb and say that the 22 degree setting with the Elyte is as easy to launch and control as the 26 degree Ai Smoke hybrid setup. Distances gap well

The bump and run is something I hope I get to test in the next generation of this club. Its a pretty common shot for me to use depending on the greens.

Pretty wild they have a completely new/different adapter on just these hybrids. I dig it.
I've been cycling thru the last couple of releases (for knowledge purposes) and this adapter has to move to the woods... doesn't it?

So during the sim session yesterday I had some solid shots out of the 4h and was nailing my targeted carry or was within +/- 2 yards of it and that is the 215 number. I was able to turn some over with the overlap grip switch and it was so good to see! The slight fade is still there but it's fine as it is the normal shot shape with the current setup. I'm 100% positive if i move the toe weight to the heel I'll have an easy draw but for now it's staying put. I started to see some shots leaking further right than I would care for and though. At this point I stopped and checked the club and noticed the ball mark was toe sided and moved about a half inch closer to the ball and all was right again. Man is this club so good I'm not sure how the team at Callaway make it better! The sound is perfect for me not too loud not too muffled just perfect. I wish I'd made the switch to this earlier in the year.

Elyte hybrids are ridiculously good. So easy to launch. I'm see a very consistent cut with mine. I've been trying to turn it over a smidge just to avoid going too far right.
