Callaway Opus SP Wedges

Had I been asked, I might've gone black but I'm honestly glad I didn't have to think about it.
I am glad I was asked. I always go black if I have a choice in that end of the bag.

that is the best feeling in the world. Well, not your sh***y weather, but the sheer excitement that somebody has for what’s in their bag.
I just need to migrate closer to your neck of the woods.
It’s funny, the wedges I was playing weren’t bad, in fact they were actually quite nice in my opinion but something about these really hit the mark for me.

The W is REALLY fun to hit, but it flies very high. Like, a lot higher than the 56.12 D grind SM10 I played this year. If you don't love a high ball flight, definitely hit it in a situation where you can see that before pulling the trigger.

I love it. But I know it isn't for everyone.

EDIT: Got trigger happy adding some feedback and saw you already had the W grind in a 50 and ordered it in a 58. Lol. Love it!
I’m with you that I’m not seeing the low flight. I’m not hating it at all! I don’t know how the spin looks since I haven’t been able to play them in to actual greens, but the flight is on the higher (or at least equal) side as my Opus

I have a feeling these things are going to stop HARD on normal greens. They were tight and pretty firm at the Hideaway and still sticking. Cannot wait to see what they do at my home club

Come on down to South Georgia. I've got a tee time Sunday at 9:20am. Always a spot for you.

How close to Albany?!

Definitely no issues getting the ball to stop, even on flighted shots.

Whats your bounce now compared to before? Just curious if that has anything to do with it.

About 3 hours 45 minutes.
That’s close enough lol Next time I’m at my wife’s Aunt and uncle’s we need to meet up.

We'll meet up halfway! I'll know a couple of THPer's that'll join!

Higher on my 60 and the same on my 55
So probably not the reason. I'm always just curious about those things. I didn't have the Opus to compare to the SP. I am seeing lower flight than the SM10s I was in before. But I fully expected that.

I’m seeing lower flight but mine are bent to 53 and 57

And I know you're liking what you see so far KP. Have you had an issues adjusting to the spin? I find I have to play mine a little longer due to the stopping power, but it's not ridiculous.

I’m seeing much lower flight in the 52 Opus SP than my 52 SM10.

Higher in the 56, but easier to hit with a full and 3/4 swing. The W grind must stand for wizardry. Lol

The W is a lot wider sole which could help you get it up. I think it would be similar to K in the Vokey which I played and it does launch. I am kind of kicking myself for not going W grind with one.

Just posting some thoughts after my round yesterday..

-I do have to adjust and play slightly closer to the hole, because unless I skull it, the ball is just going to spin and stop.
-The 52S is really good for full face shots. I love it so much more than the 50° wedge I was previously playing. So good.
-The 55X cuts through thick grass like paper.
-Finally figured out how to use the 58X out of the sand. I wasn't opening the club face up before gripping the club which was leading me astray. So I was able to get it working. Wait, except on this one:

This one was 2 shots and I got lucky it was only 2.

All of the SP love has been fantastic to read - super pleased so many of you are finding them a step up from whatever you were playing beforehand.

Having grabbed an Opus SP 58/X early last week in a Black Friday deal and got some amazing results in my first session with it I succumbed to another bargain this time on eBay on the wave of everyones excitement about their 54 wedges - just had to make the choice between bounce/grind options. Put in a low offer on a very good condition 54/S and the counter-offer back was still a can't refuse. This one is in the black finish so I shouldn't confuse the two as I occasionally have this last year with my Opus wedges.

Should be here late in the week and so with a re-grip it ought to go into the bag for some range work early next. Then I need to move on the OG Opus that I no longer need.

Really keen to get my distances dialed in with the S200 shafts rather than my DG 115's and like @Michael.Sandoval33 start to trust the spin will keep the ball at the hole if I fire it closer than previously.

Not really, I'm actually seeing my normal distances too.

As I sit here almost two weeks after ordering a PXG driver (where I only really wanted the shaft) and just got my shipping notification ....

I ordered this beauty Dec 6. Got my shipping notification Dec 9. And its in hand after overnight shipping on Dec 10.

Callaway is the real deal and I'll never take that for granted. Plus this thing is beautiful. Opus SP 54 12X with a Dart 105. Can't wait to swing this thing.

I am excited to get these in the simulator tomorrow.

Goals:
1. Wedge distance matrix
2. How easy are these to hit a full distance? ( I don't really do this with wedges often?
3. How much of a gap do I have between my set GW 47 degrees vs my Opus SP 54? (Do I need another wedge)
