Callaway Quantum Driver Line – The Next Evolution of Speed

Sort of. But I’m pretty sure everyone who was in the TD TD previously from the team ended up in TD Max with the weight in neutral.
Excellent write up @ddec.

Excited to read through the thread and learn more from all that have hit these. Have to say I was disappointed not to see a TD TD version as I am loving that in the Elyte so I will be watching closely what others in a similar situation are moving to. I had the Elyte TD before the TD TD and it was definitely more “right biased” for me. The TD TD fixed that while maintaining all the good things about the regular TD.

Does anyone know why they didn’t come out with a TD TD version?

what sort of ball speed improvements have my Grandaddy folks seen with the Quantum?
I'm seeing between 1-2 mph difference between Elyte TDTD and Quantum Max.

I urge you to also try the TD Max. I was really shocked by its forgiveness and ability to keep spin from climbing
That’s what I’m ordering

Get ready to take the leap with Quantum, Callaway’s biggest breakthrough in driver technology since the 2016 Epic series. They are changing the game by bringing something to the industry that has not been done or seen before in the Tri-Force face.

Tri Force combines three layers of materials - Titanium, Poly Mesh and Carbon Fiber - to create “the fastest the industry has ever seen” in a driver face. Layer one is made of titanium. Ai allowed Callaway to contour the material which led to the thinnest face material they have made to date by 14% which allows for maximized ball speed. The second layer, Poly Mesh, is the “glue,” so to speak, that binds the titanium and carbon together. It reduces vibration and increases energy transfer while also preventing deformation of the materials over time. How durable, you ask? They use long drive competitors to test it as their “proving grounds.” It is only 20 thousandths thick, which is just enough to blend the system together, allowing the three materials to deflect as one instead of separately. The third layer, carbon fiber, allows the face greater flex and faster recovery. Think of it as an ultra-light reinforcement for the titanium outer layer that ultimately led to a 17% increase in responsiveness. The face design is ultimately comprised of 74% titanium, 12% poly mesh and 14% carbon fiber.

This system came to be through research on how different face materials and designs perform and deflect, creating a system that is highly efficient and plays to each materials’ strength. They really focused in on two impact stressors. Strike surface is compression force, which is a weakness of carbon fiber. But what carbon fiber is very good at is TENSION (at impact, it will stretch out, or bow, before returning to form). What was crucial in their success was finding how to optimally bind titanium and carbon fiber. Poly Mesh, which is found in multiple military applications (how cool is that!), unlocks and maximizes material performance that allows them to work in harmony.

They also wanted to create improved spin consistency across the face with this line of drivers. With the utilization of Ai with these three materials, they were able to unlock another level in managing micro-deflections on the face. Factoring a strike range of half an inch low to half an inch high of an optimal strike, the spin range was reduced to 700 rpms. And that isn’t just in the middle. It factors heel to toe as well.

59,280 unique face designs were tested before ultimately landing on this combination, with over two million face impact simulations run.

I will continue to dive further into my experience throughout the thread, but wanted to share details that we were given straight from the product presentation.

Tag me in any/all questions, and get ready to Take the Quantum Leap!
Have you played the TD versions previously?

Smart money for me is to buy the standard Max or Max D. But I've had success with TD versions in the past. Less area to miss I guess.

But I also tend to miss on the heel so, maybe TD isn't a good option.

Distance and Forgiveness Focused, Max D Edition

The Callaway Quantum Max Draw delivers impressive performance where it matters most, distance and forgiveness. From the first swing at ECPC this driver felt explosive, it helped that 1st drive went right down the middle of the Performance Center fairway, with a ball speed rarely seen that consistently produces long penetrating shots. Callaway’s Tri-Force face design takes a new spin on multi material face design in an explosive yet consistent way, so you’re not just hitting it far you’re hitting it far and straight.

Where the Quantum Max Draw and the Tri-Force face shines is not only explosiveness but forgiveness. Even on off-center strikes, Quantum feels very stable and maintains surprisingly good distance. Mishits stayed in play more often than not, with less distance loss than I would’ve expected, and if the fact that I’m gaming the Max Draw didn’t tip you off, let me tell you straight, my driver swing can be really hit and miss at times. This makes it a great choice for mid to high handicap players like myself looking for both added yardage and confidence from the tee.

Overall, the Callaway Quantum Max Draw is a distance driven, forgiving driver that helps you hit it farther and more consistently. A club that can lower scores without lowering your ability to outdrive your playing partners when that swing is acting right. This is a clear winner and one well worth considering if in the market for a driver this year.

The TD Max being a full release without limited quantities was SUCH a great move by Callaway in my opinion.

This is the head I ultimately was fit into, though I could have just as easily gamed the Quantum Max. In the end, it came down to shaping for me and the TD Max won out.
OK I should have kept reading before asking my question...LOL.

So is that a legit ventus+ in the td max

Just when I think the tech is nearly maxed out, Callaway comes up with what I think are some significant advances in tech. Love the face, weight design, and overall clean look. No doubt I’ll be putting one of these in my bag to replace my 3 year old Paradym ◊◊◊. Fantastic write up!

I was fit into Quantum Triple Diamond Max, 10.5, Denali Frost Silver Stiff 50G.

For heads, I was between the core Max and the Triple Diamond Max heads during the fitting. I found similar forgiveness, with more ideal spin with the TD Max. That surprised me a bit. I am normally a core guy. Normally, I am pretty low spin, and a TD head just doesn't stay in the air. Not the case here with the TD Max. I saw some desirable launch, carry and total distance on course with the TD Max.

Most of my subsequent sim testing will be comparing the Quantum TD Max vs. the Elyte core head. I am interested to see some spin comparisons.

I enjoyed reading the write up and learning the details about the design and construction of the new new drivers from Callaway.

what sort of ball speed improvements have my Grandaddy folks seen with the Quantum?
I was probably the single largest gain on average, but it would be hard to grant that, solely on the individual number because I was centering every one with this driver and not with the Elyte during my testing.

I admit to be really really interested in the Max Fast - I am honestly not sure I am ready (age and swing speed based) for this type of driver, but finally clicked in my head - even if just slightly that the Max Fast seems to hark back to the Goldwin AVDP - not in tech, rather in making everything as light as it can be - I had a lot success with Goldwin equipment, and as an irony, have an Elyte Max Fast supposedly arriving today - from PreOwned. Worst case, I find it helpful and then I start jonesing for the new model - trade it in for price similar to what I paid (hopefully).

Only concern is whether the Max Fast is draw biased or not, hopefully not.

Great article, now to go back and read into it deeper.

Very interesting! Except for a short run with the XR driver many years ago, I haven't had a Callaway driver in the bag.

My fitter calmed me down when I emailed him about the Ping G440 (and asked again when they were getting the Powercore). He suggested I come in for a fitting in late February/early March when everything is out.

The new Callaway offerings will definitely be on the list.

Sorry if it was mentioned before, I didn't see it, but which one did you get fit into?

The embargo lifting will now let me freely swap heads at my public sim to test this. Can't wait. Will be comparing Quantum TD Max vs. Elyte core, each at 10.5.

The discrete weight port on the back is so well done, light years better than Elyte
I agree. I really wasn't a fan of Elyte's weight ports, and this one is up there amongst my favorite designs for adjustable weight.

At ECPC during the Grandaddy I went through a fitting with @johnnythompsoncg. Tons and I mean tons of great info in there. Watch for a new thread later this morning.

As someone who still fights a slice, this was the driver that grabbed my attention when I read the article. Really jonesing to do my fitting now.
We are very alike my friend (as you have witnessed) and I think this will help. I look forward to hearing your results my guy and maybe we will twin when I come visit you this summer.

Not sure if anyone was watching the DP World Tour on Thursday morning but they did an on course infomercial with on one of the Hojgaard twins who is playing the new Quatum driver. According to him it was an easy adoption.
