Callaway Quantum Fairway Woods: The Evolution of Speed and Playability

Here comes the fun part, Quantum TD vs Quantum Max vs Elyte TI in the 3 and 5 woods
The winner is going to be Quantum Max or at least it was for me.

Question for the crew. With the new adapter, will the old one work with this head or do you have to have the new adapter?
Have to have the new one.

Great work on the article @Jman. There’s so much improvement on these and you highlighted it well.

There’s way the new Step Sole 2.0 deflects and has room to rebound internally is incredible.

Elyte was just that and these should be even better... its going to be fun folks!

Was it significantly better over the other two? Is the max still really easy to hit off the tee? Sometimes the shallow face and I don't get along! Can't decide what to do with the fairways this year I really never use a 3 wood so thinking about doing a td or max 5 wood turned down to like a 4 wood!

Still very easy to hit off the the tee. Face heights aren't all that different to be honest.

I made the switch to the Elyte Ti fairway line last year and never thought I’d find one better.

The Quantum Max is genuinely, shockingly good.

Callaway has improved on speed wave and step
Sole. Speed Wave was in “exploratory mode” with the Elyte line and has become more optimized with Quantum.

Step sole was refined with new shaping to improve impact location and the ability to get through the turf.

It is HOT, and I hit some of the best fairway shots OTD of my life at the Hideaway

How do these look so good?

I thought I was excited about the Mizuno FWs...that was just a Monday morning. The Step Sole last year was amazing...now they've taken it up a notch.

Might have to sneak a new 7 wood into the bag this year.

Great write-up, @Jman !
Yeah, I’d really like to give this evolution of the TD 7w a go again this year

Great article @Jman ! I know people were raving about the step sole last year, so it'll be really cool to hear how much better it is paired with the new face!
It’s SPECIAL

Callaway focused on three performance pillars with designing the Quantum fairways.

Consistent Launch
Impact Location
Perfect Gapping

Love the size and shape of these. Also, love hearing the improvements to the step sole.

Made an already great feature better. Which is wild to think about.

The thinner sole also allowed it to become more a part of the overall face cup system.

These look very very good. I know the new adapter is moving up the lines, (hybrids last year, fairways this year). Changing adapters is always a little frustrating, just because of having to buy and swap them out on the old shafts, but the value is clear for what it brings to the table.

These are probably gonna get a try, but unseating the Elyte Ti is going to be exceptionally difficult, imo

Do you find the face to be just as shallow as last years elyte standard fairway?
Yes! And I love it! For me, the FW wood is a versatile club, I use it off the deck and tee. I prefer it over the mini driver, and last year I was in the Triple Diamond version. I went Max this year to get as much forgiveness as I can. I use my FW at least 6-8 times per round so I need it to be fast, forgiving, and as easy to hit off the turf as it is off the tee.

The improved step sole is one of the steps in improving impact location. They reshaped it for increased stability when the club interacts with the turf.

Awesome to hear this! Will be doing some much needed testing this weekend with both before I pull the trigger! My mind wants to go with the TD but I know deep down my course demands accuracy and consistency off the tee! Max might be better for me there!

I think I just made my choice with this! 5 wood adjustable and is better off the turff? What more could I want..... I need golf season now!
The 5 wood is so good and has tons of distance. My shot of the week at the Grandaddy came on the par 5 13th hole at the Clive course. I had 225 to the green and hit a perfect high cut to the middle of the green 40’ from the flag.

It can go, sounds great and looks excellent behind the ball.

Gosh, this has me fired up! That's exactly what I need off the turf! Long and forgiving sound like the best of both!

Good gracious Callaway knows how to make a great looking golf club. These look phenomenal and I didn't think they could improve upon the speed wave or step sole but here we are!! must hit
