Callaway Quantum Fairway Woods: The Evolution of Speed and Playability

So in terms of the fairways. I have always carried a 5w as my only fairway now I’m using the 3 and the 5! They really are weapons anywhere on the course and I tested them everywhere except out of a bunker at The Hideway. If you want distance give these a hit!

Good gracious Callaway knows how to make a great looking golf club. These look phenomenal and I didn't think they could improve upon the speed wave or step sole but here we are!! must hit
You’re going to love them dude. It is so damn good.

Not well educated, but Optifit4 is new and appears to allow loft and lie adjustments independent of one another (eg. can increase loft and decrease lie angle)
Yep just like they brought to the hybrids last year.

Here comes the fun part, Quantum TD vs Quantum Max vs Elyte TI in the 3 and 5 woods
Quantum Max is where I went in the 5 wood

I did... ended up 6-AW in irons. It actually has been eye opening how much better that 9W is for me compared to a longer iron.

Your comments about the clubs during the GD definitely grabbed my attention. You and I are similar age, build (I'm just a wee bit taller :p ) and play a similar game, so the excitement you showed has me leaning towards the same type of setup when I get fitted. I want to keep an open mind when I do it (both for clubs and OEMs), but I'd be surprised if I don't end up with more woods / hybrids than irons and Callaway in the bag. If I recall, you went graphite shafts as well, correct? I lost some distance this year and my ego is having problems with that.

I'm on vacation the week these drop, think I'm going to schedule my fitting on the 13th and see what I end up with.

Going into the Grandaddy I expected to leave ECPC with 3 hybrids. I was looking forward to it. Between the new line, the Super Hybrid, and the UW (however we want to classify it), there were plenty of options.

During the fitting the Quantum Max was working great. The 5h fit just after my 6i and the Max OS 4h fell in line above that. I wanted to love the Super Hybrid and gave the UW a bunch of swings. But it wasn't there that day.

My fitter handed me a 5w to try and, Oh boy!. Easy launching, baby draws. Spin, launch, and distance all where I needed them to be. The 5w was going in the bag. I've never carried a 5w and I'm kicking myself for it.

Next he handed me a 3w and I hit 2 beautiful shots. From the turf, they had a slight draw, were launched high, and carried 240-245. So the 3w went into the bag.

The 5w was a star for me at the Grandaddy. It was my less than driver off the tee. And I hit someone my best shots with it. It's effortless distance and feels like butter when you get into one. Paired with the Graphite Design Tour AD DI makes it the smoothest club I've ever owned.

I love the look of the glossy carbon fiber crown. And the bottom is sleek with just a few highlights of Nardo gray and writing. Having the Opti Fit4 adapter lets you tweaked your loft and lie to whatever works for your game.

I'm not a hybrid guy so more FW's are the move for me. I did go graphite in irons for the first time (Denali Frost). I think you will love the transition to more woods. Def get that UW you were hitting at GrayBull too. These woods are just so easy to hit it's like cheating. Here is my trusty 9w from this morning...

Colors are good, tech is good, article was great. Good to see there is a 9w offering, but why is the OptiFit4 not across the entire line?

Really well done again @Jman

Improving step sole, which was a game changer on the Elyte fairways, is great to see. Add in the new AI optimized face and this is going to be winner for Callaway, no doubt

The winner is going to be Quantum Max or at least it was for me.
Man like cap said Quantum Max! I'm coming to these froM the Rogue ST LS 5 wood, and this 5 wood is just as hot! Don't sleep on the speed and forgiveness combo that is Quantum Max.

I'm getting the same distance and ball speed without having to go full send on my 5 wood now

Wow these are gorgeous!

Given how much I love my Elyte TD 5w I am hard pressed to understand how these could be better. but knowing Callaway, I bet they are.

The biggest advantage I see immediately is the inclusion of the OptiFit4 in the 5w. That’s one thing I would love to have seen in the Elyte

Love the step sole on the Elytes. I can see where they removed some material. Clean look and sounds like a great club for those who struggle to hit fairways.

The new opti fit option on this is great.

I do not have any off the deck shots with the 3W yet, but I am really excited to see the results now that I have a lie angle 1 up.

Off the tee, this thing is a monster as you would expect. Excited to be able to put it in play tomorrow.

Looks, feel and sound all give me a lot of confidence.

The improved step sole is one of the steps in improving impact location. They reshaped it for increased stability when the club interacts with the turf.
It CUTS through rough so easily! Step sole is probably my favorite part of the design on these this year!

Are all the fairway models removable shaft, or are some bonded?

Just reading through, apologies if this was answered. I see about the adaptor, but not if any models are bonded.

The Step Sole being put on all the fairway woods is such as wonderful addition. It allows you to go down after the ball and not lose speed when doing so.

Think of the tail on an airplane as it's taking off. The tail is curved upward so it doesnt hit the ground as the plane tilts up during takeoff. The Step Sole accomplishes the same thing.

I finally got to post this shot!

This was the 7w in action on the Clive.

7w and above are bonded.

speedwave 2.0 looks like it'd be a huge asset

Man the more I read your fitting experiences I laugh because John had us fit the same in the wedges and now fairways
